The state-run restaurant was getting more and more crowded. After finishing their meal, Bu Ling and his two companions didn't stay long. As they walked out of the restaurant, the late spring sun shone on them, and the three of them felt a little lazy after eating their fill.
Seeing the post office diagonally opposite the state-run restaurant, Bu Ling suddenly remembered that he hadn't written to the principal and Teacher Wang yet.
“Brother, I’m going to the post office to send a letter to our principal and Teacher Wang,” Bu Ling said.
"You wrote a letter?" Buyi asked in confusion.
Bling shook her head. "I can write it when I get to the post office. There's nothing I can't see. I just need to tell them my address so they can send me my graduation certificate."
“Let’s go then.” Buyi led the way toward the post office.
Upon arriving at the post office, Bu Ling sweetly said, "Comrade, do you have any envelopes and stationery? I'd like to write a letter."
The clerk at the post office window was a young man in his early twenties. He blushed a little when the girl asked him such a sweet question, but when he saw the two tall and burly men behind her, he quickly handed her a piece of paper and an envelope.
"Thank you, comrade!" said Bling.
"You're welcome, you're welcome!" the young man said, at a loss for words.
Bling then asked, "Comrade, could I borrow another pen?"
The young man handed her the pen he had clipped to his chest.
Bling took the pen, leaned over the counter and wrote two sentences, folded them up and put them in an envelope, bought a stamp, affixed it, and handed it to the staff.
Suddenly, something occurred to him. "Comrade, do you have any monkey stamps here?"
The young man asked in confusion, "Monkey stamp? Never heard of it."
Buling was disappointed for a moment, but quickly cheered up again, "What about the 'All the Mountains and Rivers of the Motherland are Red' stamps?" These stamps could fetch astronomical prices in future generations, so it wouldn't be unreasonable for her to hoard five, six, seven, eight, or ninety sets.
The young man shook his head again: "Never heard of them? Where did you hear about these stamps? Were you scammed?"
Bling shook his head stiffly, said nothing, and walked out of the post office dejectedly.
Her get-rich-quick dream is shattered!
It really is a parallel world. Although the history is roughly the same, there are many differences.
Seeing Bu Ling's disappointed look, Bu Yi asked curiously, "Lingling, where did you hear about those monkey stamps and the 'Red Piece'?" He also suspected that his sister had been deceived.
“With my stepfather!” Bling replied weakly. “He said those two stamps are very valuable.”
"He's lying to you. What good could someone like Du Weilong be?" Bu Yi said angrily. Just thinking about how that bastard abused his sister made him want to whip his corpse.
"I understand, brother." Bu Ling nodded obediently.
Waaah~ Wasn't she hoping to snag a bargain?
"Don't be sad, little sister. Come on, let's go see a movie." Liang Boda also joined in the comforting words.
Bling's disappointment was short-lived; after all, she had only asked casually, just because she thought of it. If there was no answer, then so be it.
“Okay, let’s go see a movie. I haven’t seen a movie before.” Bu Ling silently added to himself, reflecting on this era.
Both of them felt a pang of sadness upon hearing this.
Even worse, his sister, whom he and his father doted on, was abused for more than ten years by that vicious woman, Niu Fangcao!
He knew that woman was no good; she favored sons over daughters, was selfish and cold-hearted, but he never expected her to be so cruel to her own daughter.
Buling didn't understand why these two people were acting like she was a pitiful little thing when she had only said one sentence.
Seeing his sister's puzzled look, Bu Yi solemnly promised, "Come on, Lingling, I'll take you to see a movie. I'll take you to see a movie every month from now on."
"Uh... okay, thank you, brother!" Bling said instinctively.
The three got into the car and drove towards the movie theater.
The movie theater was just across the street from the state-run restaurant, so there was no need to drive, but Buyi felt sorry for his sister and didn't want her to go that far.
This was the deepest love from an older brother, and Bling could only accept it all.
Upon arriving at the cinema, Liang Boda took the initiative to buy tickets.
A movie ticket cost 50 cents, which was a bit expensive in those days, considering that Bu Ling only spent one cent to ask for directions.
When Liang Boda returned with the tickets, Bu Yi asked, "What movie?"
"Tunnel warfare!" Liang Boda replied excitedly. As a soldier, this was the kind of thing he loved to watch the most.
"Lingling, do you like it?" Buyi asked his well-behaved younger sister who was standing to the side.
Bling nodded. "I like it!" Did she have any other choice?
The three of them entered the movie theater. There were no fancy screenings; it was just a room with rows of long benches and a screen at the very front.
It was noon, and the movie theater was empty. The three of them spent 1.5 yuan to have the theater to themselves and watch a movie.
Tunnel Warfare is a very old film, and compared to the 3D and 4D movies from Bu Ling's previous life, the picture quality is extremely poor. However, the actions of those predecessors in the story and their spirit of being willing to sacrifice everything for the greater good of the country still brought tears to her eyes.
She couldn't do it, but she admired it.
The movie lasted two hours, and all three of them, including Bu Ling, sat upright and watched it.
Stepping out of the dark movie theater and facing the blinding sunlight, Bu Ling closed her eyes briefly. Once her eyes adjusted, she opened them again and looked at Bu Yi on her left.
"Brother, where do we go next?" Bu Ling asked.
"Wherever you want to go, your brother will go with you," Bu Yi asked in return.
After thinking for a moment, Buling said, "Brother, do you know where the tailor shop is? I'm not very good at making clothes..."
Bu Yi didn't know either. He had only been transferred here recently, and he only found out the location of the department store by asking a local comrade last night. He looked at Liang Boda: "Old Liang, do you know?"
