After putting some heavy items into her spatial storage, leaving only a few pieces of clothing in the bamboo basket, and carrying her bag, Buling returned to the county town feeling relaxed.
The courtyard was very quiet, except for Wang Ersao washing clothes with cold water in the yard. When she saw Buling, she greeted her, "Little Bu, you're back? So early this year?"
"Oh, is Sister Wang doing laundry?" Bu Ling replied casually. When she passed by and saw the woman's red, swollen hands with chilblains, she couldn't help but say, "Sister Wang, it's better to add some hot water when you wash clothes in winter."
Wang Ersao smiled shyly: "I'm fine this way. Firewood is expensive, so every little bit saved counts."
Okay, as long as she's happy!
Bu Ling stopped trying to persuade him; good words are useless against a damned devil.
She quickened her pace back to the house. The house had been uninhabited for more than ten days, and as soon as she opened the door, a chilly feeling rushed out.
Buling lit the coal stove, boiled some water, and changed the sheets and blankets. While she was busy, Wu Yuanyuan knocked on the door and came in.
"Buling, you're up so early this year?" Wu Yuanyuan asked curiously.
While wiping the table, Bu Ling replied, "There's nothing I can do. I'm all alone in the family compound, it's so boring, I might as well come back."
"Aren't your brother and the others here?" Wu Yuanyuan blurted out, then realized, "Is the military making any moves too?"
Bling nodded silently.
Wu Yuanyuan helped her tidy up the house. "It's really strange," she said, "so many people and still couldn't find those human traffickers."
"Where do you think they could hide the child?" Wu Yuanyuan asked with great concern for the country and its people. "If they can't find the child, we'll live in fear every day. How can we continue living like this?"
"They've caught them! They've caught them! Those human traffickers have been caught!"
