Chapter 189 News from Sangzi

"Brother, you're here! Come and sit down!" Bu Ling greeted him warmly.

Sang Zi, wearing glasses, smiled gently at Bu Ling and said, "Sister-in-law." As she spoke, she placed the things she had brought on the table.

He sat down on the stool and looked around the cramped little house. This was his first time visiting his younger brother and sister-in-law's home.

Honestly, he felt his younger brother was suffering here, but the young couple seemed happy living there. Besides, his brother already had his own house, so he decided not to be an annoying older brother-in-law.

Tonight's dinner was cooked by Sangshen as usual. In front of Sangshen's family, Buling didn't lie around like a big shot, but helped out.

Sangzi came here to intimidate the neighbors in the courtyard, to observe her younger brother's married life, and for some other reasons.

After finishing his meal, he took a sip of the tea his sister-in-law had brewed. Hmm? It looked somewhat familiar.

He cursed the mulberry brat inwardly, put down the annoying tea, and said, "Sister-in-law, I've come to see you today."

Bu Ling looked at Sang Zi, waiting for him to continue.

Sang Zi carefully considered her words before saying, "It's not me, it's my uncle. He wants you to go back to Luocheng."

Buling was even more curious. What was she going back for? "Brother, is something wrong?"

Sangshen pressed on, "Yeah, brother, what does Uncle want with our Lingling? Can't he just call? Or Uncle could come over. Why bother our Lingling?"

Speaking of Los Angeles, Sangshen felt uneasy.

Seeing her younger brother's protective behavior, Sangzi felt a pang of distress. "I don't know either. My uncle only told me to tell my sister-in-law."

Buling pondered for a moment: "Then I'll write a letter to ask my uncle." Unless absolutely necessary, she had no desire to return to Los Angeles.

Sangshen, however, wasn't so easily fooled: "Brother, don't try to fool me, you definitely know something!"

Others may not know his brother, but how could he not know him? If he didn't know what was going on, his brother wouldn't have gotten involved in this mess.

Looking at her younger brother, who was now married off, Sangzi gritted her teeth and said conservatively, "I do know a little bit."

Sangshen dried the last bowl and put it in the cupboard. She sat down opposite her brother, staring intently at him, giving him a sense of pressure.

Sang Zi resisted the urge to slam a dunk on her younger brother, saying, "I heard it's related to my sister-in-law's mother."

Before Bu Ling could react, Sang Shen exploded: "It's related to that woman? What happened? How could Uncle do this? Isn't this like stabbing Ling Ling in the heart?"

Sang Zi was forced to endure a barrage of spittle from his younger brother, and for the first time, he realized that his brother wasn't so cute after all. He turned to his sister-in-law and asked, "Sister-in-law, what do you think?"

Bling: "She's still alive?"

Sangzi: ....

"Not only is she alive, but she's also incredibly lively." Sangzi felt that her sister-in-law didn't seem very reliable.

Bling stroked his chin: "Could this be the legendary 'a scourge lives on for a thousand years'?"

Wasn't Niu Fangcao supposed to be sent to the farm with the highest mortality rate? Yet she's still alive and kicking. Bu Ling has to admit she's amazing.

Sangzhen continued to condemn, "And you, brother, why didn't you stop them? You knew Luocheng and our Lingling were incompatible, how could you still help them do evil?"

Sang Zi was almost laughing in anger. She glared at her younger brother and said, "I'm just a messenger. If you have any complaints, call your uncle tomorrow."

The implication was that he shouldn't be implicated.

Sangshen pouted, thinking that his brother was right. He would go and scold his uncle tomorrow, and also complain to his grandfather, uncle, and aunt.

Buling wasn't so angry; she was just curious: "Brother, do you know what happened? It's about the cow... my mom?"

As soon as Bu Ling said this, Sang Shen stared intently at Sang Zi.

Sangzi: ...

He did know about Sang Zi, but after looking at his younger brother, he shook his head: "I don't know, Uncle won't tell me."

Let the younger uncle deal with the younger brother. He's already being blamed for just delivering a message; he's not going to be the one to take the fall for his uncle.

Sangzhen looked at her brother suspiciously, feeling that there was some exaggeration in what her brother said.

However, Sang Zi's smile remained unchanged, as if he simply didn't know.

Seeing her brother like this, Sangshen looked away and said to Buling beside her, "It's okay, I'll ask Uncle tomorrow. If we can avoid going to Luocheng, we won't go."

Bling nodded, knowing there was no point in thinking about it now: "I'll go with you tomorrow!" She was quite curious.

Before Sangzhen could speak, Sangzi agreed: "Okay, tomorrow Xiaoqi can bring his sister-in-law to my office to get it done."

That way, if the younger brother goes berserk, someone will be there to stop him, preventing him from being implicated and affecting the brothers' relationship.

His words made Sangzhen even more puzzled, but Sangzi had a strong mental fortitude and didn't show any sign of anything amiss.

Having delivered the message, Sangzi didn't linger and prepared to leave. Buling and Sangshen didn't stop her and escorted her to the outside of the courtyard.

After the others had gone far away, the two returned to the courtyard. As soon as they rounded the screen wall, they saw their neighbors staring at them with shining eyes.

"Xiao Bu, is that your brother-in-law, Director Sang?" Brother Wu's eyes lit up with surprise.

"Xiao Bu, does your brother-in-law have a girlfriend yet?" This was from Sister-in-law Lu: "My sister-in-law has a younger sister..."

"Little Sang, is there something you need so late, Director Sang?" This was Qian Xinglai, the eldest son of the Qian family.

“Little sister Buling, your brother-in-law…”

"Xiao Sang, your brother..."

Sang Zi's face was known to everyone in the county and was deeply remembered, all for the sake of avoiding offending the wrong person.

The Revolutionary Committee was a tyrannical force in that era; which ordinary citizen wouldn't be afraid of it?
