"Pah! That little bitch is just pretending! Don't be fooled by her!" the old woman said angrily.
Bling leaned limply against Sangshen and whispered, "Letter of introduction!"
Sangshen nodded almost imperceptibly, not even glancing at the old woman who was still cursing, and said coldly, "Call the police. I will absolutely not let this go!"
"Call the police then! Who's afraid of who!" the old woman persisted.
Brother Pang quickly said, "Xiao Qi, don't be impulsive. Since we can't reason with this old lady, let's go find her family. They'll definitely give your wife an explanation then!"
As he spoke, he gave Xiao Jiang, the train police officer, a wink.
Police officer Xiao Jiang immediately understood and quickly brought a stool for Bu Ling to sit down: "Brother, let your wife sit down and rest for a while."
Sang Shen remained cold: "I'm only doing this because of Brother Pang."
Pang stood up and patted Sangshen on the shoulder, then slumped down and turned to the old woman: "Auntie, can you show me your letter of introduction?"
Upon hearing this, the old woman hugged her bundle tightly, exclaiming, "No!"
Pang Ge had also lost his patience: "Xiao Jiang, this old lady can't produce a letter of introduction, I suspect she's a vagrant, take her down!"
Police officer Xiao Jiang and another police officer approached the old woman step by step. The old woman panicked when she saw this. She dared to throw a tantrum at Bu Ling and the other two, but she didn't dare to throw a tantrum at this tall man in uniform!
The old woman frantically pulled out her crumpled letter of introduction and handed it to Officer Jiang, who then passed it on to Brother Pang.
Pang glanced at it and said, "Xiao Jiang, call her son's unit and ask how to handle this."
"No!" the old woman screamed, "You can't call my son!"
Pang Ge said impatiently, "Auntie, either you compensate the woman for her losses, or we'll go directly to your son."
“Your son is a soldier, I believe he can understand things.”
The old woman's face twisted as she looked at Buling as if she wanted to devour him. Buling gave her a defiant look.
The old woman flew into a rage: "You little bitch..."
"Ouch! My head hurts!" Bling immediately clutched her head and hid behind the mulberry tree.
Pang slammed his hand on the table and shouted, "Shut up!" He was referring to the old woman.
The old woman trembled with fright.
"Xiao Jiang, go call her son!" Brother Pang ordered.
The old woman immediately said, "I apologize! I apologize!"
Sangshen chimed in detachedly, "She also wants compensation. My husband was hit by her, and his head still hurts!"
The old woman's triangular eyes widened, and she was about to unleash a torrent of abuse when Brother Pang interrupted her: "Xiao Jiang, find her son..."
"I'll pay for it! I'll pay for it!" the old lady immediately interrupted!
Brother Pang nodded in satisfaction.
Finally, with the ten yuan she had extorted, Bu Ling walked lightly out of the police station. Once she was a distance away, she said with a grin, "Auntie, you're welcome to come and get your revenge!"
The old woman: "You..."
Bling raised his hand to cover his head.
The old woman immediately glared at Buling as if she had been choked, then turned and ran away in a flash!
After thanking Brother Pang, Sangshen came out and saw this scene. He was both amused and exasperated: "Why are you getting angry with an old lady? It's beneath you!"
Bling glanced at him: "What do you know? This is called walking the old lady's path and leaving her with nowhere to walk!"
Sangshen thought about Bling's actions and nodded involuntarily: "Indeed!"
The rest of the journey was uneventful; the train ride from Kyoto to Harbin took two days and one night.
The following evening, Buling and Sangs got off the train amidst the bustling crowd.
As soon as he got off the train, Bu Ling was blasted off by the strong north wind and stumbled, letting out a big sneeze.
My goodness! This Ice City truly lives up to its name; it's incredibly cold!
Seeing this, Sangshen pulled her to the waiting room, opened her suitcase, took out a cotton-padded jacket and handed it to Buling: "Lingling, put it on quickly."
Buling didn't stand on ceremony. She took the cotton-padded coat and put it on. It was a classic, timeless style, black with buttons, but it was a bit bulky!
After putting it on, Buling instantly transformed from a fashionable young girl into a country bumpkin. But, temperature is important!
Sangshen also put on a black cotton-padded coat, the same style as Buling's. When they came out of the waiting room again, Buling suddenly felt that the old north wind wasn't so bad after all.
"Let's go, we still need to catch the bus," Sangshen said after determining the direction.
Bling pulled her scarf up a bit, revealing only her eyes: "Okay!"
After leaving the train station, the two went to the bus station and waited for a while before the bus bound for Mulingzhen arrived.
It was evening, and the bus was packed with people—those with children, those carrying chickens, and even those who were carsick and vomiting.
When Bu Ling got off the bus in Muling Town, she was just a hair's breadth away from death. She staggered off the bus.
The moment her feet touched solid ground, she bent over and gagged twice, then gasped for breath before feeling that she had been saved a tiny bit.
Sangshen patted her back tenderly, asking, "Are you alright?"
Bling straightened up and pounded his chest: "Thank goodness, I'm still alive!"
Sangshen was both amused and exasperated: "How about we find a guesthouse to stay in first?" He looked at Buling's pale face with concern.
Buling shook her head: "No, let's go see Aunt first. I won't feel at ease until I see her."
"Okay, let's get some rest when we get there."
Bling: "How do we get to the military region?"
Sangshen looked at the sky and said, "I guess there are no buses running now. I'll go see if there are any oxcarts going to the military region that can give us a ride."
Bling didn't object: "Let's go together."
