Chapter 225 You're taking such good care of your comrade's widow, does your comrade know?

At 10 a.m. the next morning, Buling finally woke up and found that Sangshen was no longer there.

She calmed herself down for a moment, then sat up and grimaced as she dressed. She was so tired yesterday that she forgot to tuck her clothes into the blankets, and now she was suffering this morning.

After getting dressed and casually tying her hair into a low ponytail, she opened the door. The room her aunt had prepared for them was on the first floor, and the living room was right there.

In the living room, only Sang Shen and her older brother were sitting on the sofa chatting; Uncle Sang was nowhere to be seen.

"Lingling, you're up? Did you sleep well?" Sangshen, with her sharp ears, heard the door open and turned to look.

Bling smiled brightly: "Yes, I slept very well!" As she spoke, she went back into the room and took out her toothbrush and toothpaste from her suitcase, preparing to brush her teeth.

Seeing this, Sangshen hurriedly and attentively prepared warm water for her.

Brother Sang was a little surprised to see this scene. It was the first time he had seen Xiao Qi interact with his younger brother and sister-in-law. He never imagined that Xiao Qi had this side to her. However, he didn't say anything.

After brushing her teeth, Sangshen made an egg pancake for Bling for breakfast. After eating breakfast, Bling wiped her mouth.

"It's almost noon, let's go to the hospital to pick up Auntie!" Buling suggested.

Sangshen nodded: "Alright." Then she turned to Sangzhang: "Big brother, are you going?"

Sang Zhang hesitated for a moment, then shook his head: "I'd better not go."

Sangshen glanced at him and said, "Then go to a nearby village and buy an old hen. I'll make soup for your aunt when she gets back."

"Oh, right, buy some other meats too. My aunt has been suffering, I need to give her some nourishment," Sangshen ordered without any hesitation.

Sang Zhang: "Okay!"

After he finished speaking, he grabbed his coat and prepared to leave, but he stopped in his tracks just as he reached the door. He turned to look at Sang Shen and said, "Xiao Qi, cook more food for lunch today. I'm bringing your sister-in-law back so you and your brother and sister-in-law can meet her."

Bling: ....

This guy is really not afraid of angering his own mother to death!

"Brother, how about we reschedule for another day?" she said tactfully.

Sang Zhang frowned. "I don't have much vacation time. I have to leave tomorrow." The implication was that he was only free today.

Unlike Bu Ling, Sang Shen was more tactful. He said bluntly, "Brother, don't come back at noon either, lest Auntie gets angry when she sees you!"

Sangzhang: ....

Completely oblivious to the fact that she had hurt her brother, Sangshen turned to Buling and said, "Lingling, let's go, it's almost time."

Bling raised his hand and looked at his watch: "Indeed!"

Ignoring Sang Zhang's unpleasant expression, the two walked past him and went out the door to pick up Aunt Sang from the hospital.

Upon seeing the two of them, Aunt Sang beamed with joy and happily followed them out of the hospital.

Along the way, when I met colleagues, I proudly introduced them: "This is my nephew and niece-in-law. They are incredibly filial. When they heard I was hospitalized, they took a two-day train ride to take care of me!"

Buling and Sangs could only maintain polite smiles and accept the scrutiny and compliments from their aunt's colleagues.

Finally, when they got home, it was already 12:30. Brother Sang had already returned from shopping.

After entering the house, Sangshen put down her things, rolled up her sleeves, and went into the kitchen to start cooking.

Aunt Sang watched this scene with great satisfaction: "Little Qi has grown up!"

He used to never go into the kitchen, but now he goes in on his own without being told.

Bu Ling smiled but didn't say anything. Then she looked at Brother Sang sitting in the living room and said softly, "Brother!"

Brother Sang stood up, taking Sangshen's place, and helped Aunt Sang down: "Mom, sit down and let's talk!"

Aunt Sang snorted coldly, her smiling face falling. The speed at which she changed her expression amused Bu Ling.

"Aunt, my brother is right, please sit down and rest for a while!"

Aunt Sang: "Listen to our Lingling."

Saying this, he shook off Brother Sang, pulled Bu Ling to sit down on the sofa, and Brother Sang touched his nose, not wanting to be offended, and went to the kitchen to pour a glass of hot water for the two of them.

"Mom, sister-in-law, have some hot water to warm yourself up!"

Buling took it and warmed his hands with it, saying, "Thank you, big brother."

Aunt Sang gave him a cold look, but still took it. Brother Sang wasn't annoyed; he poured water for the two of them and sat down opposite them on the sofa.

"Mom, let's talk!"

"What's there to talk about? You're all grown up now, you can make your own decisions, what do you need to talk to your mother who's in your way?" Aunt Sang said sarcastically.

Ignoring the ill intent in his mother's words, Brother Sang continued, "Mom, I know you mean well, but... but Political Commissar Liu sacrificed himself to save me, and I can't abandon his widow."

Aunt Sang's expression softened slightly: "Eldest son, Mom knows you're doing this to repay a debt of gratitude, but repaying a debt of gratitude shouldn't come at the cost of your own life!"

A faint smile appeared on Brother Sang's serious face: "Mom, I'm willing!"

Hearing this, Bu Ling couldn't help but ask, "Brother, do your comrades know how much you care for their widows?"

Putting yourself in her shoes, if she were to die and her best friend were to marry him under the guise of taking care of Sangs, Bu Ling felt she would be so angry she could come back to life.

Pshaw! She won't get cold!

The question caused both Aunt Sang and Brother Sang to pause in surprise. The mother and son exchanged a glance, then turned to look at Bu Ling together.

Now that Bu Ling had spoken, he didn't hold back and looked at Sang Zhang, asking, "Brother, you keep saying you want to marry her, have you asked her what she thinks?"

Sang Zhang was taken aback by the question, but still answered, "I proposed to her, and she did not object."

Bling suppressed the urge to roll her eyes: "Did you ever give them any other options?"
