Time passed slowly but surely. The day after Liang Boda's wedding, Buling and Sangshen returned to the county town.
That evening, as soon as Bu Ling got off work and returned to the compound, he saw Old Mrs. Shi carrying a basket walking out.
Bu Ling didn't even spare her a glance, continuing to walk forward without looking to the side. This time, even Wu Yuanyuan ignored her.
This old lady Shi was quite a character. Because of the fierce actions of Aunt Jiang and Aunt Lan, she was seriously injured and had to stay in the hospital for a whole month to recover.

Buling stood up, poured him a cup of hot water, and asked curiously, "What's in your bamboo basket?"
Sangshen drank the water in her cup in one gulp, put the cup down, and then replied, "It's salted fish. Xie Dong went to Qing City a few days ago. That place has the most seafood, and he brought back a lot."
As he spoke, he put down the bamboo basket, revealing its contents: "I took a little of everything, and left the rest at the county hospital."
Buling peeked inside and saw several sea fish, some seaweed, dried scallops, and other seafood in the bamboo basket. She rummaged through it and asked, puzzled, "Aren't there any shrimp?"
Mulberry shook her head: "No, shrimp is cooling in nature, and Old Man Yu said we shouldn't eat too much of it."
Bling was quite disappointed and sat down on the stool: "Not being able to eat much means you can eat a lot, right?"
Sangshen paused for a moment, then said without changing her expression, "That's true, but Xie Dong didn't buy any shrimp."
Seeing Bu Ling's face fall, Sang Shen betrayed Xie Dong without hesitation: "It's all his fault. I'll scold him for you when I see him another day."
Bling glanced at him sideways: "Am I such an unreasonable person?"
"No, our Lingling is the most sensible." Sangshen said sweetly.
Bu Ling raised her chin. Yes, she was quite sensible: "So next time Xie Dong goes to the South, he can just buy it for him."
Xie Dong's eyes flickered, and he massaged Bu Ling's shoulders: "Okay, I'll talk to him when I have the chance."
But he quickly added with difficulty, "But it's almost Chinese New Year, so he probably won't be taking any long-distance trips anytime soon."
Bu Ling is a reasonable person: "It's fine after the New Year, I can wait."
Sangshen replied good-naturedly, "Alright, then we'll wait a little longer."
As darkness fell, Sangshen began preparing dinner. "Lingling, what are we having for dinner tonight?"
Buling stood up and slumped back in the recliner: "I asked Sister Zhizhi to get me a pound of meat yesterday. How about we have braised pork tonight?"
Mulberry rolled up her sleeves: "Okay, add some eggs and potatoes, it'll taste even better."
Buling chimed in, "Shall we steam rice tonight? I think we still have some rice at home, right?"
"Yes, there isn't much left, but it's enough for tonight's meal," Sangshen replied, taking a ceramic jar from the cupboard and examining it.
"I'll go to the black market tomorrow and buy more this time," Sangshen said, pouring out the rice, rinsing it clean, and then steaming it on the coal stove.
Buling nodded: "We should buy more. The New Year is coming soon, and we should start preparing for it now."
Sangshen smiled but didn't say anything.
Speaking of the New Year, Buling remembered something else. She opened her eyes and looked at Sangshen: "Hey? By the way, Sangshen, are we going back to Kyoto for the New Year this year?"
Sangshen was wearing an apron with his sleeves rolled up, revealing a section of his lean arms, looking every bit the stay-at-home husband, but that didn't diminish his charm.
Hearing what Buling said, he looked up at her and asked, "Do you want to go back?"
Bling sat up straight: "I'm fine with anything, it's up to you."
Sangshen thought for a moment and said, "Then we won't go back. You're pregnant, and you shouldn't overwork yourself."
Bling didn't disagree with what he said, "But Grandpa will be disappointed."
Sangshen sighed, "There's nothing we can do about it." Then, he suddenly had a brilliant idea: "Hey, we can have Grandpa come to Gu County for the New Year!"
