Chapter 261 About Sisters-in-Law

Time always flies when you're not working. In the blink of an eye, Buling's annual leave was over, and it was time for her to go back to work.

Early in the morning, after eating the red bean buns made by Aunt Fang, Buling was driven to work by Aunt Fang.

Originally, this job was supposed to be done by Sang Shen, but since Grandpa Sang was around, he had to put on a show of being ambitious, so the job fell to Aunt Fang.

On the way, Aunt Fang adjusted Bu Ling's hat and then asked, "Lingling, what would you like to eat for lunch? Aunt Fang will make it and bring it over to you."

Bu Ling took Fang Sao's arm and continued walking forward: "No need, Fang Sao, our restaurant provides lunch. It's so cold, don't bother going back and forth."

Aunt Fang smiled and her eyes crinkled: "What's the trouble? It's good that I can come out for a stroll. Otherwise, I'd get moldy if I stayed cooped up in the house all day."

Buling knew that Aunt Fang said this to comfort her, but she still refused: "Aunt Fang, no thanks. I'll be having dinner with my colleagues, and if I eat too well, it might attract attention."

Since that's what she's said, Aunt Fang couldn't insist any further. "And tonight? What would Lingling like to eat tonight?"

"I'm fine with anything, I'm not picky!" Buling seemed very easy to please.

That said, Bu Ling is now four months pregnant and has no pregnancy symptoms whatsoever, such as morning sickness or swollen feet. Wu Yuanyuan is extremely envious of her.

Aunt Fang hesitated for a moment, then asked Bu Ling for her opinion: "How about we have noodles with soybean paste? I heard the old man mention wanting to eat it last night."

“Sure!” Bling had no objections.

The two arrived at the restaurant hand in hand. Aunt Fang escorted Bu Ling behind the counter, poured her a glass of hot water, and then looked around the restaurant. "Ling Ling, I'll pick you up tonight."

"Okay, Aunt Fang, please drive carefully on your way back." Knowing that refusing was useless, Bu Ling simply didn't waste her breath.

After Aunt Fang left, Zhu Zhizhi and Sister Ma surrounded her, gossiping, "Xiao Bu, is that your sister-in-law?"

"It's my sister-in-law," Bu Ling said vaguely, not intending to explain in detail.

Hearing this, Sister Ma said with some envy, "Xiao Bu, your sister-in-law is so good to you, she even drives you to and from get off work." Thinking of her own sister-in-law, she felt incredibly unlucky.

Bu Ling smiled and said, "Yes, my sister-in-law is a good person."

"Buling, how do you get along so well with your sister-in-law?" Zhu Zhizhi's eyes were full of curiosity.

Bling: ...

"Treat others as you would like to be treated?" she said uncertainly. "If you treat her well, she'll treat you well in return."

Zhu Zhizhi was usually a fan of Buling, but this time she unusually retorted, "No, if you're nice to your sister-in-law, she'll think you're easy to bully and will become even more demanding." Her tone was gloomy.

"What's wrong, Xiao Zhu? Are you having a conflict with your sister-in-law?" Sister Ma was a seasoned veteran and was quite perceptive about these kinds of conflicts between sisters-in-law.

Zhu Zhizhi lowered her head, wiped the counter, and gave a soft "hmm".

"Did she bully you? Tell me, and Aunt Ma will give you some advice!" Aunt Ma understood everything when she saw Zhu Zhizhi's expression. It immediately reminded her of herself, and her sense of justice surged.

Zhu Zhizhi looked up at the two of them, gave a bitter smile, and then said dejectedly, "Actually, they didn't bully me. It's just that I... I'm bad with words and don't know how to talk back."

Ultimately, it wasn't that Zhu Zhizhi's two sisters-in-law were bullying her. The main problem was that the three Gao brothers all lived together, and with so much interaction, it was bound to have disagreements.

Moreover, with three brothers in one family, the wives of the brothers always find themselves comparing themselves to each other—their children, their jobs, their families, everything. It's not that they want the other woman to be bad, but they're never happy to see their sister-in-law doing better than them.

It wasn't a big deal to begin with, but Zhu Zhizhi is a sensitive person who takes even the slightest bit of malice to heart and holds a grudge for a long time. So, after a while, she couldn't take it anymore.

As for this matter, Buling really didn't know how to advise her; she had no experience with it! She could only listen silently from the sidelines.

Thinking of the open and covert ridicule and exclusion she had suffered during this period, Zhu Zhizhi felt wronged and her eyes reddened.

This scene terrified Bu Ling and Sister Ma. Before they could even offer any words of comfort, Wu Yuanyuan came in from outside. Seeing Zhu Zhizhi like this, she immediately asked, "Zhizhi, what's wrong? The exam hasn't even started yet, why are you crying?"

Bu Ling gave her a wink. Wu Yuanyuan, not understanding what was going on, walked over and asked, "What's wrong? Why does Zhizhi look so pale? Are you nervous?"

Distracted by Wu Yuanyuan, Zhu Zhizhi snapped out of her grievance and blinked. "Sister Yuanyuan, I'm fine, my eyes are just a little dry."

Seeing the tears in her eyes, even the most oblivious person would know something was wrong, and she unconsciously fell silent.

The atmosphere became somewhat tense for a moment, but after a while, Manager Zhu's arrival broke the silence.

Manager Zhu, carrying a briefcase, pushed open the door and said, "Xiao Wu, Xiao Zhu, get ready for the exam!"

"Coming!" Wu Yuanyuan answered loudly.

"Understood, Manager Zhu." Zhu Zhizhi composed herself and followed Manager Zhu into his office.

The two entered the office and closed the door, leaving only Buling and Sister Ma standing there. They looked at each other, and Sister Ma spoke first: "Little Buling, you are lucky. Your in-laws are reasonable, your husband loves you, and your own family protects you. You don't know how envious I am of you sometimes?"

Bling didn't say anything. How could she answer? Any response would sound like she was showing off, so she simply kept quiet.

Fortunately, Sister Ma was just expressing her feelings and didn't expect Bu Ling to answer.
