With a belly full of questions, Sang Shen finally got off work.
After get off work, he first picked up Buling and Xiaoxing from the restaurant, and then they went home together.
On the way, he even said to Buling, "Lingling, my brother said we don't need a nanny?"
Buling straddled the back seat, cuddling his eldest daughter in his arms, and asked, "What do you mean? Does Big Brother have other ideas?"
“My brother said we’ll find out tonight,” Sangshen said honestly.
"Isn't it already evening?"
"Yes, so we'll soon find out what the surprise my brother was talking about is."
Sangshen was very unhappy with his brother's suspenseful behavior, but he knew his brother wouldn't trick him: "If my brother says it's a surprise, then it's a surprise."
“I know.” In Bu Ling’s opinion, Sang Zi was a particularly reliable person.
As they spoke, the two arrived home. Just as they turned into the alley, they saw their door was wide open. Buling asked curiously, "Is it my older brother?"
"It should be." Sangshen rode her bicycle into the yard.
He only gave the keys to the house to his eldest brother and Xie Dong.
"Lingling!"
"Aunt?"
"Aunt?"
Buling and Sangs exclaimed in surprise.
When Aunt Sang saw the two of them, her face lit up with a smile, and she hurried over to Bu Ling: "Oh my goodness, I've missed you so much!" She took Little Star from Bu Ling's arms, and she was overjoyed.
Looking at Sang Zi coming out of the house, Sang Shen asked, "Brother, is this the surprise you were talking about?"
Sang Zi chuckled: "Surprised?"
"Of course!"
After admiring the little girl, Aunt Sang turned to her and said with a hint of reproach, "Look at you all, why didn't you tell me you had no one to look after the child?"
Buling smiled shyly: "Doesn't your aunt have to go to work?"
"Is going to work more important than Mianmian?" Aunt Sang retorted.
Sangzi added from the side, "Your aunt has retired early, so you can all rest assured now!"
"Mmm-hmm!" Sang Shen and Bu Ling nodded at the same time. There was no one more trusting than their aunt.
Next, through Sang Zi's explanation, Bu Ling learned that before Grandpa Sang left, he had sent a telegram to Aunt Sang, and upon receiving the telegram, Aunt Sang immediately applied for early retirement and then took the earliest train to Gu County.
To alleviate Sang Shen and her husband's worries and to prevent Bu Ling from feeling burdened, Aunt Sang comforted them, saying, "I've been longing for my little darling all my life, I wouldn't feel comfortable entrusting her to anyone else!"
Even so, Buling and Sangs still thanked their aunt repeatedly.
Aunt Sang was completely preoccupied and couldn't pay any attention to the two of them. "Oh my, was our little star smiling at Grandma just now? So sweet! Oh, oh, oh~"
"Sangshen, shall we cook a meal to welcome Auntie back?"
"become!"
To express her gratitude, Sangshen went to great lengths to prepare three dishes and a soup for this meal. After it was served, her aunt complained, "Why are there so many dishes? I'll just eat a little."
Sangshen smiled but didn't say anything. She just put some garlic sprouts and stir-fried pork on her aunt's plate.
Although Aunt Sang complained, she was secretly pleased.
After the meal, Aunt Sang asked, "By the way, I heard from Xiao Si that Dongzi got married?"
"Yes, they just got married, not even a month yet," Sangshen replied, placing a piece of scrambled eggs with tomatoes on Buling's plate.
"Why are you in such a hurry? Where is the woman from? What is her personality like? How did she meet Dongzi?" Auntie asked in quick succession.
Sangshen briefly explained the whole story before saying, "Xie Dong has returned to Kyoto. He'll tell you personally when he gets back."
After hearing this, the aunt sighed, "I know." Then she asked, "So, Xiao Xie's wife is living alone next door now?"
"yes."
"I'll go see her after we finish eating and see if she needs any help," Auntie said.
“Aunt, you just got off the train, why don’t you rest first? It’s not too late to go tomorrow,” Bu Ling advised, noticing the fatigue on her aunt’s face.
“Yes, Aunt, there’s no rush,” Sangshen also advised.
"Alright then, let's go tomorrow!" Aunt Sang was indeed tired, so she didn't insist anymore.
After finishing their meal, Aunt Sang washed up and went to bed early. As for Buling and Sangshen, they put their daughter to sleep and then sat down to chat.
"Lingling, do you want me to give all my salary to my aunt from now on?" Sangshen looked at Buling cautiously.
“It’s only right.” Bu Ling immediately understood what Sang Shen meant: “Auntie has already gone to so much trouble, we shouldn’t let her give us any more money.”
She's the kind of person who'll treat you well if you treat her well. Since she got married, her aunt has taken good care of her, let alone now that she's retired early to help them take care of their child. Even a biological mother wouldn't be more considerate than her. It's only right that they support the family expenses.
"Lingling, you're so kind!" Mulberry's eyes sparkled.
“I think so too!” Bu Ling was not one to be modest: “Besides, I remember we still have cloth coupons, right? Tomorrow I’ll take them to the department store and buy some cloth to make a dress for my aunt. I see her clothes are all faded from washing.”
"Yes." All the receipts and other documents at home were in Sangshen's hands. Hearing what Buling said, he stood up, took a box from the bedside table drawer, and then sat back down next to Buling.
“All our remaining tickets are here.” He waved the box in his hand.
Bling took the box and opened it, revealing a box full of tickets. She took them out, sorted them, and set aside those with expiration dates.
"And as for the compound, we won't be able to go back anytime soon. Could you take some time to bring all the things from there here?" Buling put the remaining receipts that could be stored for a while back into the box.
