Chapter 312 Heartbreaking During the New Year

Sangshen and Buling, who were counting money until midnight, gloriously overslept.

They were eventually woken up, but compared to yesterday, they were much more stable today.

The most important thing is:

"Come on, Xiaoqi, this is your New Year's red envelope." As the head of the family, Aunt took the lead in initiating a game of distributing red envelopes.

Mulberry happily accepted it.

Then it was Buling and Xiaoxing's turn. They both received their own red envelopes, the bright red paper making their smiles even warmer.

After the three of them arrived, it was the brothers Bu Yi and Lü Zhiwei, then Sang Zichenci and her husband, and finally Xie Dong and his wife.

After giving out the last red envelope, the eldest aunt retired, and the next person took over. After Sangzi, the next person took over, then Bu Yi, then Lü Zhiwei, and so on, until the youngest person, Jiang Wanying, gave a red envelope to the clueless little Xingxing.

This concludes the event.

The Buling family of three, who reaped the biggest harvest, were grinning from ear to ear.

On the first day of the Lunar New Year, besides giving out red envelopes, people also exchange New Year's greetings.

After preparing a bag full of small red envelopes and handing Little Star to Auntie, Buling and Sangshen set off.

When visiting a colleague's home, I would take out the red envelope I had prepared, praise the child, hand over the red envelope, exchange a few pleasantries, and then say goodbye and leave.

After a morning of wandering around, my once bulging handbag was now completely empty.

On the way home, Buling complained to Sangs, "Tell me, my once perfect handbag is no longer perfect; it has a scar."

Sangshen took it from her hand and slung it over her shoulder: "It looks better when I wear it."

“Then you carry this, and I’ll carry yours.” Bling had planned this all along, and now the timing was perfect.

Sangshen glanced at her speechlessly: "How long have you been keeping this to yourself?"

"What are you saying?" Bling gave him a light shove. "I wasn't keeping it to myself, I just remembered it~"

"Oh." Mulberry's coffin-like face: "I don't believe it!"

"Hey, you..."

"Comrade Buling?"

Bu Ling turned his head. "Comrade Zhang? What a coincidence!"

It was Old Zhang, the postman, who called out to her. Judging from his attire, he said, "The post office doesn't even close on Lunar New Year's Day?"

Old Zhang gave a wry smile: "Serving the people, you know~"

“This is Brother Zhang.” Bu Ling gave a thumbs up.

Old Zhang scratched his head sheepishly and said, "Here's a letter for your family. I just happened to run into Comrade Buling here, so I won't deliver it to your home." As he spoke, he took a letter out of his bag and handed it to Buling.

"A letter? When did it arrive?" Bling asked, taking the letter with a puzzled expression.

Sangshen leaned over to look with Buling: "From Guangdong Province? Could it be Fifth Brother? But the address doesn't match."

"Don't bother studying it, just go home and open it." Bu Ling put the letter in his bag, looked up at Old Zhang and said, "Thank you, Brother Zhang."

"Of course." Old Zhang's honest face was red from the cold.

After saying goodbye to Brother Zhang, the two strolled home.

"A letter from Guangdong Province, who do you think it could be from?"

“Fifth Brother, he’s in the army over there,” Sangshen replied.

"Speaking of Fifth Brother, he's in the navy, right?"

“Yes, Fifth Brother is in the Navy, and Sixth Brother is in the Air Force.” As she said this, Sangshen proudly puffed out her chest.

"Amazing!" Bling praised sincerely.

If mulberries had tails, they would be pointing skywards by now.

Unexpectedly, Buling suddenly asked, "And what about you?"

Mulberry was confused: "What's wrong with me?"

Bling gave him a disappointed look and counted on her fingers for him:

"Big brother is a regimental commander, and he's from a place with harsh conditions in your province, right?"

“That’s right!” Mulberry nodded.

"Second brother goes without saying, his level of secrecy is so high that even Grandpa can't know about him."

"And then there's Third Brother, who's serving in the army in Qi Province. That's the border area, and he's been through countless battles, big and small, right?"

“Yes.” Sangshen felt like she understood what Bling was about to say.

"And your own brother, your fifth brother and sixth brother, are all exceptionally capable, so what about you?" Bu Ling asked, posing a probing question.

Sang Shen stared in disbelief.

After a long pause, she finally retorted, "You're trying to hurt me during the New Year?"

Bling: "Am I not telling the truth?"

"I...I ran a black market, so...it's not that bad, is it?" Sangshen said, sounding unsure of herself.

“But isn’t that Xie Dong’s business? You just invested some money.” Bu Ling cut to the chase.

Upon hearing this, Sangshen lowered her head, feeling somewhat dejected.

Thinking about it, it seems to make sense. Everyone around him is very capable and outstanding, and they all have their own goals and directions to strive for. Only he is just wasting his days.

"But..." Bling suddenly changed the subject.

Sangshen looked up at her.

“Me too,” Bling said. “That’s why we hit it off. We’re both the kind of people who don’t have many ambitions and are just happy to be alive.”

Hearing her say that, Sangshen shook off her previous gloom and added, "You still have to live well."

“That’s right, living a high-quality life,” Bling agreed.

If living conditions were tough, she might have stood up for herself, but not at all now. They're surrounded by powerful figures, so they just need to lie low and wait to be carried.

"Lingling, you're so kind~" Sangshen was deeply moved.

Bling said smugly, "You know that's good."

The two of them happily returned home.

When I got home, the house was bustling with people, but most of them were children.
