"Exactly, they ran away when things got out of hand!" Wu Yuanyuan scoffed.
Bling nodded: "That's normal."
Wu Yuanyuan didn't speak, but let out a cold snort.
The two chatted to pass the time until Chef Lü called for someone to prepare the dishes.
A scorching hot noon passed, and at 2 p.m., six people from the restaurant gathered together to eat their staff meal.
Today's staff meal was all appetizing: shredded potatoes, cucumber salad, and cold noodles—it was all about the taste of summer.
After a busy lunch, everyone was hungry, and the only sound at the table was the slurping of noodles.
After having eaten and filling her stomach, Sister Ma finally started today's topic: "Xiao Wu, Xiao Bu, when are you two planning to have a second child?"
When Wu Yuanyuan, who was slurping noodles, was called out, she gave a vague answer: "Let's wait and see, let's talk about it when the eldest is two years old."
Sister Ma nodded, then looked at Bu Ling, who was calmly slurping his noodles: "Little Bu, what about you?"
"I'll say it later," Bling said, using a more subtle, informal style: "Let's talk about it when our eldest daughter is a bit older."
After listening to their answers, Sister Ma earnestly advised them, "You two still lack experience."
Wu Yuanyuan's curiosity was piqued: "How so?"
Sister Ma spoke with the air of someone who'd been through it all: "You're still young now, you'll recover quickly after childbirth, and the older folks are still energetic and can even help you take care of the baby. But it's hard to say what will happen later."

"I'm fine with anything." Bling wasn't really keen on getting involved in the conversation.
Zhu Zhizhi listened silently to the three of them chatting, feeling an overwhelming sense of sadness.
She knew she wasn't likable, but she couldn't help it.
After that topic came to an end, there was a moment of silence at the dinner table before another topic was started, but this time it was initiated by Manager Zhu.
He cleared his throat and asked, "Xiao Wu, how is your mother-in-law?"
When Wu Yuanyuan was called out again, her heart was filled with overwhelming sadness. She honestly replied, "It's okay, I've already been discharged from the hospital."
Manager Zhu nodded: "I'll go visit her another day."
Wu Yuanyuan: ? ? ?
Bu Ling and others: ? ? ?
What's going on with Manager Zhu? Does he know Aunt Zhao?
The 'well-informed' Bling instantly conjured up a whole drama in his mind: you love her, she marries someone else, and you silently protect her.
There were all sorts of dramatic and ridiculous stories, like "hearing she was sick, he couldn't resist coming to her door," and so on.
The more she thought about it, the brighter her eyes became. She raised her head and looked intently at Manager Zhu: "Manager, you..."
"Let's do it tonight." Manager Zhu stood up briskly. "I'm done eating. You all can take your time." With that, he disappeared from everyone's sight at lightning speed.
Only silence remained on the table.
"Xiao Wu, why is Manager Zhu so fond of you?" This was the only explanation Sister Ma could think of.
"Maybe...maybe!" Wu Yuanyuan herself was also a little dazed.
Zhu Zhizhi wanted to say something, but remembering the previous awkward silence, she opened her mouth and then closed it again.
Bu Ling was still engrossed in his own thoughts and didn't have time to join the discussion, while Master Lü seemed lost in thought.
After getting off work in the evening, Wu Yuanyuan dawdled, still unable to escape the bad news that she would be going home with her boss. It felt just like a nightmare of being visited by her teacher at home.
Because Manager Zhu was there, Wu Yuanyuan had to push her bicycle. She walked silently for a while, then suddenly felt something was wrong and looked back:

Bu Ling grinned and said, "I'm going back to the compound."
Wu Yuanyuan understood immediately and looked at her in disbelief.
Bu Ling blinked: "I need to talk to Sister Xiang Ru about something."

Manager Zhu, who was standing next to him, remained silent throughout and followed them back to the compound.
As she pushed her bicycle around the screen wall, the neighbors in the courtyard greeted Bling one after another.
"Little Bu, you're back!"
"Little Bu, long time no see!"
"Xiao Bu, how's your daughter?"
"Little Bu..."
"..."
It was right around the time people were leaving get off work, and it was summer, so everyone was sitting outside in the courtyard enjoying the cool air. When they saw Buling, they were incredibly enthusiastic.
Bling: ...
I felt inexplicably embarrassed, especially in front of my boss.
She wiped the sweat from her brow: "Thank you, everything is fine. Thank you everyone for your concern."
"Little Bu, who is this guy? Could it be..." Such annoying words were clearly spoken by Aunt Lan.
Bu Ling turned her head, smiled kindly, and was about to speak when Wu Yuanyuan interrupted her: "These are our restaurant leaders who came to visit my mother-in-law."

Wu Yuanyuan felt a chill run down her spine.
Walking towards the backyard, Manager Zhu nodded slightly to everyone as a greeting, then followed Wu Yuanyuan. Finally, Bu Ling followed silently, completely forgetting her earlier statement that she had something to discuss with Sister Xiang Ru.
"Mom, my boss is here to see you," Wu Yuanyuan greeted as she opened the door.
Aunt Zhao's voice came from inside the door: "Manager Zhu is here, please come in, please come in."
Manager Zhu entered the room and saw that Aunt Zhao was trying to get off the kang (a heated brick bed). He quickly said, "Sister, please lie down. Don't get up. I just came to visit you."
Feeling the two burning gazes behind him, he twitched his lips and added, "After all, you used to work in a restaurant too."
