"What?"
Suddenly, Bu Ling rushed up to the person and grabbed her shoulders tightly, asking involuntarily, "What do you mean 'disappeared'? How did it disappear? Did you call the police? Did you send people to look for it?"
Upon hearing the news, the first thing that came to her mind was the mass child abduction that occurred two years ago.
Of those children, only a few were found, and those few were not in good condition.
Thinking of the children's tragic condition, Bling's hands trembled uncontrollably. "What exactly happened? Tell me!"
The person who came, Jiang Wanying, was closest to Bu Ling and was stunned into place by the brutality in her eyes.
This was the first time she had ever seen such a Bling. "I...I was making dumplings with my aunt in the kitchen, and when I came out I couldn't find Little Star."
As she spoke, Jiang Wanying's voice was already trembling with sobs: "My aunt and I have searched everywhere, but we still haven't found it."
Bu Ling clenched her fists, forcing herself to calm down, and turned around: "Sister Yuanyuan, can I borrow your bicycle for a moment? I need to go back."
Wu Yuanyuan knew the seriousness of the matter, nodded readily, and handed over the bicycle keys: "Here you go."
Bling gave her a forced smile, then rode her bicycle home at breakneck speed.
The people in the restaurant watched her retreating figure, their hearts filled with worry. "Comrade Jiang, when did Little Star go missing? Did you call the police?"
Lü Zhiwei also ran forward, but after a few steps, he turned around and asked again.
Jiang Wanying nodded: "My aunt has passed away." Her face was very pale.
She has a heart condition and cannot engage in strenuous exercise. After running, her face was abnormally flushed, accompanied by a heart-wrenching cough.
Upon learning that the police had been called, Lü Zhiwei nodded and quickly ran towards the county hospital.
Seeing this, Wu Yuanyuan poured her a glass of water and fed it to her to moisten her throat. Jiang Wanying stopped coughing and then was about to go out.
"Hey, finish your drink before you leave," Wu Yuanyuan stopped her.
Jiang Wanying paused, thinking of her own health, but still picked up the water glass and drank it all in one gulp. After finishing, she ran back without stopping, but Lu Zhiwei had already disappeared from sight.
After a brief period of chaos, the restaurant returned to calm. Wu Yuanyuan didn't linger; she nodded to the group and hurried home.
Along the way, she walked faster and faster, until she jogged, and finally ran.
Panting, she returned home, told the neighbors about the lost little star, and then asked them to help look for the child.
Although Buling hadn't lived in the compound for very long, the people there still treated her like one of their own. Now that they'd heard the child was missing...
Without saying a word, everyone put down their work, called on neighbors and acquaintances, and joined the search for the child.
Meanwhile, Bling arrived home amidst sparks and lightning.
The door to the house was wide open, and there was no one inside. She didn't have time to think about anything else. She walked around inside and outside, and after confirming that her daughter was not there, she got back on her bicycle.
In such a large county town, finding a lost child with just a few people is nothing short of a pipe dream, so she needs to find help.
With a clear purpose in mind, she headed straight for the government building.
When she arrived, Sang Shen came out and saw Bu Ling. Her face lit up with joy: "Ling Ling, what brings you here?" Could it be that you have forgiven him?
Bling wasn't in the mood for pleasantries and cut to the chase: "Little Star is lost!"
Who lost it?
“Our daughter!” Bu Ling said, stopping her bicycle and running upstairs. “I’m going to find my older brother and ask him to find someone to help us look for her.”
Mulberry realized what was happening and turned to rush into the building.
Hearing their conversation, Sang Shen's colleagues stopped in their tracks, hesitated for a moment, and then followed her back.
Inside the building, Sangzhen quickly overtook Buling and pushed open the door to Sangzi's house: "Big Brother!"
Sang Zi paused, pen in hand, and scolded, "So careless! What kind of behavior is this?"
Then, glancing at the sky outside, he asked, puzzled, "Aren't you supposed to be off work? Did you need something?"
Sangshen cut to the chase: "My daughter is missing!"
He believed Lingling wouldn't joke about something like this, so he was very anxious. "Brother, ask your men to help look for it. I'm afraid..."
That's the apple of his eye!
Sang Zisun's expression turned serious. "Okay."
As he spoke, he stood up and strode towards the door, just as he was leaving, he brushed past Bling, who had just come up.
At a time like this, neither of them was in the mood for small talk. "What did you say, brother?"
"Big brother went to find someone," Sangshen said succinctly.
Bling's heart was pounding, but she knew she couldn't panic; her daughter was waiting for her: "I'll go look for her too."
"I'll go too."
As darkness fell, the crowd surged, and the entire county town descended into chaos.
The police and public security bureau mobilized simultaneously, searching house to house for the child's whereabouts, and also sent people to guard several roads leading out of the county town, making quite a commotion.
The people aren't stupid; they knew something big had happened just from the commotion.
Some kind-hearted people offered clues or helped find their children, but most went home to confirm their own children's safety.
When the moon was bright and the stars were few, Buling and Sangshen finally met their aunt and the first thing they said was...
"Has the little star been found?"
Then all three shook their heads at the same time.
After a brief meeting, the three parted ways to conduct their own searches.
They spent the entire night going from house to house in the county, but the whereabouts of Little Star remained a mystery.
In the dead of winter night, Bu Ling and the others felt their hearts sink and tremble uncontrollably, as if they had fallen into an icy lake, chilled to the bone.
