Chapter 340 New Year's in Kyoto

The commotion outside caught Sang Ersao's attention.

After she finished relieving herself, she peered out the window and asked, "Mom, what happened?"

Auntie came out with a bowl of sweet soup and answered loudly, "It's nothing, some things were sent from home, it'll be ready in a bit."

Pei Shengnan: ?

You call this a 'dot'?

However, through sending the package, she truly experienced the unity of the Sang family.

"Mom, let me help you pack. There's so much to do, how long will it take you to finish?" With that, Pei Shengnan was about to leave.

“No need!” Aunt refused decisively. “I can take care of it myself. You should lie down.”

Looking at the packages scattered on the floor, Pei Shengnan said tactfully, "There's too much stuff. Mom, can you manage by yourself?"

"What's wrong with that?" Aunt rolled up her sleeves, picked up a package in each hand, and started carrying it into the house.

Once inside, Pei Shengnan wanted to help, but her aunt dodged her, saying, "Shengnan, go back inside and lie down. It's windy outside, don't catch a chill."

"I'm not lying down anymore," Pei Shengnan refused. "My bones are too soft from lying down. I'll sit here for a while."

Knowing that her daughter-in-law was someone who couldn't sit still, she didn't insist, but simply told her, "Then go back to your room and put on another layer of clothing."

"good."

...

On the other side, in Gu County.

When Buling received another letter from her aunt, there were only a few days left until the New Year.

They had packed their bags and were ready to return to Kyoto for the New Year.

"Lingling, a letter from your aunt!" Sangshen entered the yard carrying several pieces of sausage and immediately waved the letter in her hand.

"Quick, open it and take a look!" Bling strode out of the house.

Halfway there, Sangshen put her arm around his shoulder and led him back into the house. She put down the sausage, tore open the envelope, and the two of them read the letter head to head.

The letter contained nothing special; it simply expressed the gratitude of the second brother and sister-in-law and the longing of the eldest aunt. At the end, it mentioned that the second sister-in-law had made a small gift for Little Star and sent it along with the letter.

After reading it, Bling asked, "Where's the little gift?"

Sangshen spread her hands: "No, Brother Zhang just gave me this letter."

"It should still be on its way," he explained.

"We're going back to Kyoto tomorrow. Will we still be able to see each other before the New Year?"

"It's alright, if you can't see it, you can't see it. You can see it again after the New Year," Sangshen comforted her.

"That's all we can do."

After chatting for a while, Sangshen put the letter in the box: "Our company gave us a few sausages, shall we steam one tonight?"

"You cook, I'll do whatever you say." As she spoke, Bu Ling put on her military overcoat: "I'm going to pick up my daughter, you make some steamed buns for us to eat on the road tomorrow."

Sangshen took off her clothes and put on an apron: "How about steamed buns with pickled cabbage and pork belly? I'll also make some carrot, egg, and wood ear mushroom buns for my daughter, which she likes."

"You decide what to do." With that, Bu Ling strode out of the courtyard.

The current preschools are much more humane than kindergartens in later generations.

Putting everything else aside, the fact that there are no summer or winter vacations is really nice and quite parent-friendly.

Braving the cold wind, Buling cycled all the way to the Machinery Factory Primary School. She found a sheltered spot to park her bicycle and waited for her daughter with her hands in her sleeves.

She timed it perfectly; less than five minutes later, the preschool class was over. The little ones, all bundled up and with their faces red from the cold, ran out the door, playfully frolicking.

Bling's eyes searched among the small potatoes for his daughter.

It wasn't that her eyesight was bad; it was just that in the dead of winter, all mothers unanimously made black cotton-padded jackets for their babies, not for any other reason than that they were more resistant to getting dirty.

Finding your daughter in complete darkness requires sharp eyesight.

Before she could even find it, a little cannonball burst out from the pile of toddlers, shouting, "Mom, Mom!"

Bling acted faster than she thought, "Hey, Mom's here!"

Little Star rushed up to Bling, arms outstretched, wanting a hug.

Buling naturally bent down to adjust her daughter's scarf, then took her hand: "Come on, let's go home. Your dad is steaming your favorite buns at home."

What are you trying to hug me for? I'm so heavy!

"A carrot?" Little Star was young and easily distracted.

"Do you have any other favorite foods?" Buling asked in return.

Little Star nodded seriously: "Yes, Star also loves to eat meat."

Yes, we have them all.

Reaching the bicycle, Buling grabbed her eldest daughter under the armpits and lifted her onto the bike, saying, "Hold on tight to Mommy, okay?"

"Um!"

Amidst the envious glances of the other children, the eldest daughter responded loudly.

Buling smiled, tucked her hat in, then turned around, got on her bicycle, and took her daughter home.

Here I have to mention that it's a good thing her brother bought her a 26-inch bicycle, otherwise she would have had to carry her daughter on the crossbar.

With a grateful heart, thank you, brother~

When we got home, my eldest daughter didn't need to be carried. She nimbly climbed down herself and excitedly entered the yard, shouting, "Dad, Dad, buns! I want to eat buns! Meat buns, carrot buns! I want them all!"

Sangshen stepped forward, her hands still covered in flour. Seeing her lively eldest daughter, she smiled like an old father and said, "We have everything, we have everything."

"ah!"

"Dad, you're the best!"

Little Star has been a natural at sweet talk since she was little, charming her father to the point of disbelief, like right now.

Sangshen's mouth stretched to the back of her ears, and her charming phoenix eyes narrowed into slits with laughter, making her look rather silly.

Bling: ...

Her daughter...

That's brilliant!

You'll definitely not suffer losses in the future.

"Alright, alright, you two stop grinning like idiots, aren't you cold?" Bling, the master of ruining the mood, was online.
