Chapter 343 Things Have Changed

Lunchtime.

At the dinner table, the old man and the child had returned to normal and were eating together affectionately.

"Great-Grandpa, this meat is delicious, you should have some."

Little Star puts her beloved great-grandfather's favorite piece of meat on his plate.

"Good boy, our little Xingxing is the best." Grandpa Sang couldn't stop smiling as he put an egg on his beloved grandson's plate: "Come on, eat an egg. I heard from your mother that you love eggs the most."

"Thank you, Great-Grandpa!"

The entire dining table seemed to have become a stage for the grandfather and grandson, showcasing their affection for each other, leaving everyone else at the table in awe.

Aunt Fang sat next to Bu Ling and quietly nudged her, "Lingling, you've taken such good care of Little Star."

Bu Ling chuckled, indicating that she wouldn't take the blame for this.

God knows how such a proper person could raise such a sycophantic daughter.

Neither she nor Sang Shen are like that, are they?

Bling was completely baffled and could only conclude that her daughter was exceptionally gifted and self-taught.

After lunch, I helped Aunt Fang clear the dishes.

"Dad, I have work to do this afternoon, so I'll be leaving now." After sitting for a while, Aunt Sang was the first to say goodbye.

She is a strong woman who is still unmarried, and the old man has a lot of headaches about this only daughter.

Now I've learned to ignore it and just wave my hand, saying, "Go away, go away, don't come back and get in my way."

Ignoring her father's hypocrisy, Aunt Sang winked at Buling and said, "Lingling, I'm leaving now. Let's have coffee together again next time?"

“Okay!” Bling readily agreed.

Aunt Sang gave Buling a farewell hug, and as they parted, she whispered in Buling's ear, "I have a gift for you in my room, remember to go check it out~"

After saying that, he winked at Buling, then greeted Aunt Fang and Uncle Lin before leaving.

Sang Xiaogu has her own place to live and doesn't usually live in the military compound.

Firstly, to avoid my elderly father's nagging, and secondly, because it's inconvenient to enter and exit the military compound.

Miss Sang came and went like the wind, disappearing in the blink of an eye.

The second to take her leave was Fang's wife: "Commander, I made an appointment with Commander Liu's son to queue at the grocery store this afternoon. I heard that a batch of shrimp has arrived, and I'm going to buy some to eat during the New Year."

Grandpa Sang certainly wouldn't refuse, but instead instructed, "The money is in the drawer, Xiao Fang, you can take it yourself."

Over the years, he no longer treats Fang Sao as an outsider, and he doesn't hide anything from her regarding money and tickets.

Aunt Fang nodded with a smile.

After the two left, the old man, who had been strolling around all morning, was a little tired. "You two chat, I'll take Little Star back to the house for a nap."

"Xiao Lin, you're getting the day off today. Go home for the New Year."

Uncle Lin gave a crisp military salute: "Thank you, Commander."

Bu Ling: "Uncle Lin, Happy New Year!"

Mulberry: "Happy New Year, Uncle Lin!"

"Comrade Buling, Xiaoqi, Commander, Mianmian, Happy New Year to you all!" Going home for the New Year—what wonderful words! Just thinking about it warms my heart. Even Uncle Lin was no exception, he was overjoyed.

Grandpa Sang waved his hand, took out the red envelope he had prepared for Uncle Lin in advance, handed it to her, and picked up the drowsy little star and went back into the house.

Uncle Lin accepted the red envelope, watched the old man's figure disappear behind the door, then turned around and went back to his room to pack his luggage and go home for the New Year!

In a short while, only Sangshen and Buling remained in the living room.

"What about us? Where are we going?"

Sangshen pondered for a moment: "Shall we go for a walk? The ice rink is lively at this time of day, shall we?"

"Go, go and see."

The two went back inside, put on their military overcoats, hats, and scarves, and then left the military compound.

The ice rink was quite far from the compound, so the two of them didn't ride bicycles but took the tram instead.

Sangshen knew Kyoto like the back of her hand. She took Buling on and off the bus, changed buses and transferred trains, and it took her an hour to finally arrive at her destination.

Just as Sangshen had said, the ice rink was bustling with people, mostly young men and women.

Some were wearing black cotton-padded coats, some were wearing work clothes, and some were wearing military uniforms. The ice rink was quite large, and people were shoulder to shoulder. If you were not careful, you would bump into someone.

"Lingling, wait a moment, I'll go rent two pairs of shoes."

"good."

Wearing a military green coat, a gray beanie, and a red scarf, Bu Ling smiled brightly at the entrance of the ice rink, attracting the attention of many single young men.

"Hey, comrade, all alone?"

A classic pickup line: a young man in blue overalls, thinking himself handsome, stops in front of Buling and makes a greasy attempt to pick her up.

Bling glanced at the person opposite him with greasy hair that could split in two and a mouthful of yellow teeth, and his smile vanished instantly: "I'm afraid half a person will scare you to death!"

The young man choked, then chuckled dryly, "Comrade, you really know how to joke."

Bling quietly moved to another spot, deciding not to bother with idiots; it's contagious.

"Comrade, my name is Yu Ziqi, and I work at a furniture factory. What about you?" The simpleton, oblivious to the situation, continued his relentless pursuit.

Buling looked around but didn't see Sangshen, so she had to go herself: "Call me Sister-in-law Sang. I'm currently a full-time mom at home."

"Mom?" Yu Ziqi was dumbfounded: "You're married?"

Buling, with her sharp eyes, spotted Sangshen running over and quickly waved, "Here!"

Sangshen noticed the man in front of Buling, frowned, and quickly ran to Buling's side: "Lingling, who is this?"

"Oh, stranger, it's not important." Bling didn't care at all about hurting a young boy's feelings: "Did you get the ice skates?"

“We’ve rented it, let’s go over there to change.” Sangshen separated Buling from the man and pulled her toward the bench.

Bling obediently followed.
