When Han Yu arrived at work, he saw a strange girl in the kitchen. He was stunned for a moment, but quickly realized what was going on, and his face turned ashen.
Originally, he planned to wait until the chef was less angry, then have Tan Xiao talk to the chef and ask his mother to take over the position. He didn't expect the chef and Manager Zhu to act so quickly and find a new kitchen helper.
All his plans failed, and Han Yu's face turned ashen.
Wu Yuanyuan looked at Han Yu with a puzzled expression, wondering if this person was crazy. He was giving her a particularly fierce look, and she didn't even know him.
Han Yu was smart after all. He quickly adjusted his emotions, smiled heartily at Wu Yuanyuan, and extended his hand: "Hello, you must be the new kitchen helper. You can call me Brother Han."
Just as Wu Yuanyuan was about to reach out, Bu Ling peeked into the kitchen and said with a smile, "Calling him Brother Han isn't quite right. Let's call him Comrade Han, since Comrade Han is a married man."
Han Yu was momentarily embarrassed. "Yes, I didn't think of that. Just call me Comrade Han." He was furious inside, feeling that this Bu Ling was extremely ungrateful.
Wu Yuanyuan, of course, listened to Bu Ling: "Hello, Comrade Han," without extending her hand.
Han Yu reluctantly withdrew her hand.
Bu Ling said to Wu Yuanyuan, "Yuanyuan, come here for a moment."
Despite her confusion, Wu Yuanyuan still stepped outside.
Bu Ling dragged Wu Yuanyuan to the backyard, leaned close to her ear and whispered, "Stay away from that Han Yu. I'll tell you why after get off work." She had only gone to the kitchen because she suddenly remembered she'd forgotten to tell Wu Yuanyuan this. Luckily she had gone, otherwise that silly girl Wu Yuanyuan would have been completely fooled.
Wu Yuanyuan nodded seriously. She didn't have a good feeling about Han Yu either, so of course she would stay away from her.
After giving her instructions, Bu Ling and Wu Yuanyuan went back first.
Not long after the two returned, Grandpa Tan arrived. As usual, he stood with his hands behind his back, smiling broadly. After greeting Bu Ling, he said a few words of encouragement to Wu Yuanyuan.
Then he checked today's supplies and found beef. He said, "Xiao Wu, come and cut some beef. We'll make braised beef for lunch."
"Alright, Uncle Tan," Wu Yuanyuan readily agreed.
"Xiao Wu, come over here and help me keep an eye on the heat." Grandpa Tan
"Coming, coming!" Wu Yuanyuan
"Xiao Wu, Xiao Wu, Xiao Wu..."
Han Yu, in the kitchen, watched as Grandpa Tan completely ignored him and only called on the new kitchen helper, which made him feel even worse.
He stepped forward and said, "Master, let me help you chop the vegetables."
Without looking up, Grandpa Tan said, "Go and kill the fish, wash the dishes, and wash the vegetables."
Han Yu's face twisted for a moment, but he didn't dare say anything and obediently did as Uncle Tan instructed.
Grandpa Tan glanced at Han Yu's retreating figure, a cold smile creeping across his face.
During lunch at the staff cafeteria, Wu Yuanyuan looked blissfully happy, a sight that filled Bu Ling with disgust. She completely forgot that she herself had the same expression when she first ate there.
The state-run restaurant was small, with only six people in total. Everyone enjoyed a lively lunch and was quite satisfied, except for Han Yu, but he wasn't important anyway.
That evening, Wu Yuanyuan waited for Buling to finish reconciling the accounts. She then sat on the back of his bicycle, and the two walked home together.
With a ferocious expression, Bling pedaled his bicycle, saying, "I'll teach you how to ride a bicycle tonight."
Wu Yuanyuan had no objection: "Sure, you can teach me after we finish eating."
Mulberry was walking down the street when she saw the little black girl, baring her teeth and grimacing, pass by her. She was riding her bicycle wobbly, which worried her greatly.
He wondered if this county town was too small, since he was running into the little black girl so often.
That evening, when she returned to the compound, Aunt Wu was eagerly waiting. Seeing Wu Yuanyuan's expression, she knew that the matter had been settled.
She immediately beamed and went to greet her, taking Buling's hand: "Buling, you're back! Come on, Auntie just cooked some meat, come wash your hands and eat!"
Buling didn't refuse, smiling as she took the lunchbox from the bicycle basket and handed it to Aunt Wu: "Aunt Wu, this is an extra meal from me and Sister Yuanyuan." It consisted of a few slices of beef and a fish left over from the state-run restaurant today, which the six of them shared.
Aunt Wu hesitated for a moment
Seeing her daughter's meaningful look, she stopped refusing: "Then Auntie won't be polite." She took the lunchbox and looked at Buling with loving eyes.
Wu Yuanyuan jumped out of the back seat of the car and said to Buling, "Put the car back in the house first, I'll go help my mom cook."
Buling nodded, greeted Aunt Wu, and pushed the cart into the house.
In the evening, Buling sat at the dining table in Aunt Wu's house, waiting for dinner.
The entire Wu family was present; there were six people in total: Aunt Wu and her husband, their son and his family of three, their daughter Wu Yuanyuan, and Buling, all sitting around the Wu family's dining table.
On the table were braised pork stewed by Aunt Wu, scrambled eggs, tomato and egg soup, as well as braised beef and braised fish brought back by Wu Yuanyuan and Buling.
Sister-in-law Lu's mouth watered as she looked at the table laden with hearty dishes, but she said, "Mom, we're eating as a family, why are you calling this girl?" This is all meat; how can we let outsiders have it?
Aunt Wu glared at her daughter-in-law and first put a piece of braised pork on Bu Ling's plate: "Little Bu, try Auntie's braised pork. I'm not bragging, but Auntie's braised pork is exactly what your uncle taught you."
Grandpa Wu chuckled and chimed in.
Sister-in-law Lu was even more dissatisfied, "Mom and Dad, we don't even have enough to eat for our family, why are we inviting outsiders?"
Aunt Wu slammed down her chopsticks and glanced at her eldest son's family of three: "This meal is to thank Bu Ling and to celebrate Yuan Yuan's birthday. Your family of three is just an afterthought. If you don't want to eat, there are cornbreads in the cupboard."
