1977 was a year full of surprises.
The first piece of good news of the year is that Brother Sang has been transferred back to Kyoto.
Along with this news came the news that my aunt would be arriving in Kyoto soon.
When she received the news, the schadenfreude on Sang Shen's face was quite obvious.
"Big brother is finished."
Bling shoved him: "Look at you, gloating like that. Hasn't your older brother treated you well?"
Sangshen rubbed her face, trying to make her expression look less ungrateful: "You don't understand, this is just a conditioned reflex."
Bling rolled her eyes at him: "What a character."
At the dinner table, Little Star was eating heartily when she heard her parents talking. She asked curiously, "Mom, are you talking about Uncle?"
Little Star is precocious despite her young age. Although she has never met Brother Sang, she receives gifts from him every year and has a very good impression of him.
Why was Dad gloating over Uncle's misfortune?
Looking into her daughter's clear, big eyes, Sangshen was at a loss for words and didn't know how to explain.
At the crucial moment, it was Buling who came to his rescue: "It's because Little Star likes Uncle, and Daddy's jealous!"
Little Star looked at Mulberry with her round eyes: "Daddy, really?"
Mulberry: ...
He clutched his heart and exclaimed, "It's true, Daddy is so heartbroken!"
Little Star chewed on her rice spoon, tilted her head, and blinked twice: "Then...then Star still likes Daddy the most."
Sangshen grinned, revealing her little tiger teeth, and turned to her daughter, leaning closer: "I don't believe you, unless..."
Little Star got anxious: "Unless what?"
“Let’s pinky swear!” Sangshen raised her chin and extended her right little finger.
Little Star blinked her clear eyes: "Daddy, you're so childish~"
Then, she sighed softly and held up her little finger: "Well, you're Xingxing's favorite dad, so be it~"
Mulberry: ...
"Pinky promise, never to change for a hundred years, whoever changes is a scoundrel." He was determined to carry on with his childishness to the very end.
"Whoever changes is a mangy dog," Little Star repeated helplessly.
At that moment, Little Star left a childish mark on her father's young heart.
As she grew up, every time she had a boyfriend, her father would remind her of something, which was something she hadn't expected.
Bling sighed, looked at their intertwined fingers, and slapped them: "Are you still going to eat?"
"Eat!" the father and daughter said in unison.
"Then let's eat."
Just as Sangshen had guessed, the first thing her aunt did upon returning to the capital was to drag her older brother Sangshen to a blind date.
After all, Sang Shen is already twenty-seven this year, and his older brother Sang is eleven years older, thirty-eight this year.
Therefore, Auntie's requirements for Brother Sang's blind date were quite low.
She could accept any woman younger than her mother.
But after more than a month of trying, Brother Sang is still single.
My aunt was so angry that she didn't even mind wasting national resources anymore; she would call every time to complain and lodge grievances.
"Lingling, what kind of girl does he think he's looking for? Someone like him is already lucky if any girl wants him, yet he's so picky. He really doesn't know his place." As expected of a mother, the aunt didn't hold back when she started criticizing her son.
Bu Ling weakly advised, "Perhaps Big Brother has other ideas."
"Pah! What is he thinking? I think he just wants to live a lonely life and drive his mother crazy!" Auntie went berserk.
It took Buling a lot of effort to appease her aunt.
After hanging up the phone, she wiped away a bead of sweat, then glared fiercely at Sang Shen: "Is this what you call an emergency?"
Sangshen smiled ingratiatingly, "Lingling, isn't it because you and your aunt are both women that it's easier to communicate?"
Bling: "Get lost!"
Today, Sangzhen rushed into the restaurant in a flurry, saying that her aunt needed to see her urgently.
She thought something had happened, but when she answered the phone, she realized that she had been completely tricked by the Sang brothers.
These two inhuman beings actually pushed her to face her aunt, who was in a frenzy.
"Hmph~"
Sang Zi was focused on correcting documents, oblivious to everything else around her.
It took Mulberry a long time of careful persuasion to finally appease the person.
"Take me home, I have to go to work."
"Okay."
No matter how anxious or irritable his aunt was, Brother Sang remained unmoved, unaffected by any external pressure.
My aunt would get so angry that she would have a meltdown every few days. Whenever this happened, she would call Buling, vent her frustrations, and then regroup before going back into battle, always full of energy.
And so, we fought and fought, and spring was about to pass.
A transfer order from Kyoto shattered the peace of the Sang family.
"Brother, you're being transferred? Where are you being transferred to?" Sangzhen was extremely surprised. After looking around to make sure no one was there, she lowered her voice and asked, "Brother, weren't you waiting for an opportunity?"
Sang Zi smiled and patted his shoulder: "Because of that letter." In his eyes was an ambition as fierce as wildfire.
When the topic turned to that horrifying letter, Sangshen's smile faltered: "Isn't that in the past?"
Sang Zi smiled reassuringly: "Don't worry, it's all in the past."
"Right now, the higher-ups are rewarding those who have made contributions," Sangzi explained.
Hearing about the rewards for meritorious service, Sangzhen finally felt relieved and had the mind to care about his brother: "Brother, where are you being transferred to this time?" He was somewhat reluctant to part with him.
Sang Zi was very pleased: "Kyoto." And it was a position he was very satisfied with.
Noticing Sangshen's reluctance to part, he chuckled, "Don't be sad. I believe we'll meet again in Kyoto soon." He said meaningfully.
