Granny Lan waved her hand quickly: "You misheard, I didn't mean that, you must have misunderstood." She finally understood; this girl's advantage wasn't something to be taken lightly.
"Alright then, we'll have to talk about it another time," Bling said with a regretful expression.
Aunt Shen then realized what was happening: "You brat, don't go! Explain your work situation clearly before you leave."
Bu Ling chuckled mockingly, "Aunt Shen, do you really think the whole world is your mother, that everyone has to cater to you? I've already made myself clear enough: if you want a job, bring the money; otherwise, don't bother me!" Bu Ling's voice suddenly rose as she said the last sentence.
At first, Granny Shen didn't understand what Bu Ling meant. But when she did, her face twisted in anger, and she stepped forward to tear Bu Ling apart. But Aunt Wu stopped her, saying, "Aren't you ashamed enough already?"
Granny Chen looked at Aunt Wu, who was blocking her way, and said, "Of course you'll side with her. She found a job for your Wu Yuanyuan, so she doesn't have to go to the countryside anymore. As for my Jiang Hua, I don't care. This girl has to give me a job today!" With that, she broke free from Aunt Wu and started to move forward.
Aunt Wu quickly stopped her, because Bu Ling had found a job for their Yuan Yuan, and she couldn't let the girl be bullied right under her nose.
Seeing the two middle-aged women tearing at each other, Bu Ling quickly said, "Aunt Wu, you don't need to stop me. If I get hurt even a little bit today, I'll report it to the police tomorrow. I want to ask the police how blatant robbery is punished? Does it mean I'll be sent to a reformatory?"
Upon hearing this, the two elderly women who were tearing at each other stopped simultaneously.
The neighbors in the compound were all watching Bu Ling.
Granny Shen, though outwardly fierce, said weakly, "Don't talk nonsense, who robbed you?"
"Aunt Shen, you probably think only robbing money counts as robbery, right? Stealing a job counts too. If you don't believe me, I'll take you to ask the police tomorrow, and you'll see," Bu Ling kindly explained to her.
Aunt Shen was about to say something more when she was suddenly interrupted by a woman's voice: "Mom, please don't make things difficult for Bu Ling because of me. She only scared you because she had no other choice." The girl who spoke was of medium height and had delicate features, with only her pair of bright almond-shaped eyes standing out.
At this moment, the owner of those almond-shaped eyes was looking at Buling with tears welling up in her eyes.
Bu Ling thought to herself, "This must be the legendary Jiang Hua."
She gave a mocking smile and remained silent.
Jiang Hua's expression stiffened, and she said in a pitiful tone, "Little sister Bu Ling, I'm sorry, my mom was just too worried about me. I've caused you and everyone else trouble." She bowed to everyone in the courtyard.
Buling wasn't buying it: "Since you know you're causing me trouble, don't let your mother out again, especially not in front of me. I can't guarantee I'll always have the patience to argue with her." Pshaw, she'd seen plenty of those innocent little devils.
Granny Chen stared at Bu Ling with a murderous look on her face.
Jiang Hua's eyes reddened as she spoke, but she still bit her lip and nodded: "I understand, Sister Buling."
"Good to know. Also, don't call me 'little sister.' I don't have the habit of calling anyone 'little sister,'" Buling said bluntly.
Jiang Hua nodded timidly.
Wu Yuanyuan stayed inside, looking at Bu Ling with admiration. If Bu Ling hadn't told her otherwise, she would have gone out long ago to fully appreciate Jiang Hua's humiliation.
She knew that Buling was doing it for her own good; after all, she had come out on top in this whole affair, so she figured it was best not to attract attention at a time like this.
Seeing that Granny Chen had calmed down, Buling didn't linger any longer. She was hungry, so she said goodbye to Aunt Wu and went back to her room.
Jiang Hua watched Bu Ling's retreating figure, a hint of resentment flashing in her eyes. Just wait and see; she'll definitely become the most outstanding person in this compound.
Seeing that the main characters had left, the onlookers naturally went back to cook their meals.
However, after this incident, everyone understood that Bu Ling was a kind and righteous girl who didn't forget to treat Aunt Wu and her family well when she received something in return, but they shouldn't scheme against her.
They should try to build a good relationship with Bling from now on; just in case luck comes their way someday.
Bling didn't know what they were thinking, and even if she did, she'd probably be happy to see it happen.
