Chapter 4 Opportunity

Finally, the farce was brought to an end by Du Weilong when he returned home from get off work.

He pushed through the crowd, first struggling to pull up his own son, then helping his wife up.

Finally, he politely thanked the neighbors who had come to watch the spectacle.

The neighbors couldn't stand by and watch any longer.

When Bu Ling saw the dispersing crowd, he curled his lip, knowing that this stepfather was just putting on an act.

After everyone left, Du Weilong closed the door, his face darkening. Looking at his stepdaughter sobbing, a look of disgust flashed in his eyes.

"Stop crying, get up and cook." He said impatiently.

Anyway, his stepdaughter is timid as a mouse, so he doesn't need to maintain a good image in front of her.

Pretending to be scared, Bling carefully scooped up a bowl of cornmeal, opened the door, went out, and then gently closed the door.

With her head down, she started cooking. During this time, she looked around and, taking advantage of the fact that no one was around, quickly took out a bottle of mannitol and added it to the corn porridge.

Fearing the dosage wouldn't be enough, she ordered five more bottles. Anyway, this stuff had no taste and even a slightly sweet taste, so she wasn't afraid of being discovered.

Stir it well, then carry the pot into the house.

While she was cooking, Du Changzheng had already returned and was sitting at the dining table with his legs crossed, waiting for dinner to be served.

She placed the pot on the dining table, served a bowl of porridge to each of the Du family father and son, and then put the lid back on the pot.

Du Changzheng said in a glib tongue, "Lingling, let's eat together." As he spoke, he reached out to pull Buling's hand.

Bu Ling took two steps back and decided that as long as Du Changzheng dared to step forward, she would send him to keep Du Dabao company.

Du Weilong snapped, "Alright, let's eat."

Du Changzheng was most afraid of this father. Hearing this, he dared not act rashly. He glanced regretfully at Bu Ling and sat down at the table to drink his porridge.

Bling: My fist is hard.

She huddled beside the small bed, carefully cleaning the broken wooden planks while glancing furtively towards the dining table.

He acted like he was scared but also very hungry.

Du Changzheng noticed Bu Ling's actions and drank the porridge even louder. After his father finished eating, he poured all the porridge into his own bowl and slurped it down.

"Oh, I'm so full!" Du Changzheng exclaimed, feigning satisfaction.

Bling thought to himself, "You'll be in trouble tonight!"

She stood the broken wooden plank upright, spread the sheet on the floor, put her hand under her head as a pillow, and planned to sleep there.

That evening, Du Yuanzheng and his family of three returned from visiting his wife's parents. Their faces were extremely gloomy. As soon as they entered the house, they stormed into their room, slamming the door shut with a deafening roar.

Sure enough, about two hours after dinner, Du Changzheng started frequently going to the toilet.

Tragically, in the 1970s, the toilets in the tenement buildings were not in the homes, but were all built on the stairwells, and their family was the innermost one.

Although she couldn't sleep all night because of the mess, Bling was still in an incredibly good mood.

This was meant to be some reward for the original owner, but strangely, Du Weilong remained silent.

Could it be that she didn't administer enough?

Next time, put in more bottles.

Let's wait a few days. If she has diarrhea with every meal, we should start to suspect her.

This morning, surprisingly, I didn't hear Ms. Niu Fangcao spewing feces. It seems her son's love yesterday was too heavy for her, so heavy that she's still not awake.

In the morning, after making breakfast, Buling, as usual, huddled in a corner, watching the family eat.

Today, the atmosphere at the dinner table was incredibly tense; everyone had a somber expression.

After finishing his meal, Du Weilong slowly stood up, glanced at Bu Ling huddled in the corner, and instructed, "Don't go to school today. Stay home and take care of your mother."

Bling nodded timidly.

Here comes the opportunity!

Since Ms. Niu Fangcao is still unconscious today, the heavy task of taking her son to school has fallen on Du Weilong's shoulders.

After finishing breakfast, I dragged my chubby son out the door.

As Du Dabao was being dragged out the door, he didn't forget to threaten Bu with his eyes.

Seeing his smug look, Buling felt a little regretful. She was still too weak. If her superpower were to level up, she would make sure the little fat boy was taken care of properly, and he wouldn't even suspect her.

No wonder she can only be a human water pipe in the base, instead of dominating the world like other water-type powerhouses.

The family members left one after another, except for Ms. Niu Fangcao, who was in a coma, and Du Changzheng, who had diarrhea all night.

After hastily finishing her chores, she pushed open the door to her stepfather's bedroom, where Niu Fangcao was lying on the bed, oblivious to everything.

After carefully checking Niu Fangcao's condition and confirming that she was indeed unconscious, Bu Ling began to observe the room.

This room is the largest in the house, about the same size as the living room, around ten square meters each. It also has good natural light, with four panes of glass embedded in the wall opposite the door, making the room bright and airy.

To the left of the door was a double-door wardrobe made of solid wood, which was placed at the foot of the bed. To the left of the bed, directly opposite the door, was a dressing table.

Normally, this bedroom is locked, and no one except Du Weilong and Niu Fangcao, who have the key, has the opportunity to enter.

Having seized this opportunity, Buling planned to steal her household registration first.

She tiptoed into the house, closed the door, and nimbly and quickly searched for valuables.

Based on her experience reading novels in her previous life, valuable items were either placed on the roof beams, in the foot of the bed, or in a hidden compartment in the wardrobe.

She carefully felt around in the wardrobe, gently tapping to check for any hidden compartments.

"Empty, empty..."

Bu Ling was overjoyed. There really was a hidden compartment in the wardrobe. It was made of solid wood, and when you knock on it, it should make a thumping sound.

She tapped a few more times to confirm the size of the interlayer, and then gently pushed the edge of the interlayer to open a small opening in the wooden board, just big enough for a fist to fit in.
