The days leading up to the New Year.
After finishing her work at the bookstore, Bu Ling returned home and was surprised to see two familiar figures on the sofa:
"Sister Yuanyuan, Brother Tiehe?"
"Ling, it's been a long time." Wu Yuanyuan greeted her with a smile, just like the two of them used to gossip.
"Bu Ling, my sister." Tie He also remembered her as an honest and simple girl.
At this moment, Aunt Wang walked in from outside: "Madam, I only let them in because they said they were your friends."

“It’s my father-in-law. He had an accident and is currently at the First Affiliated Hospital of Kyoto. We wanted to ask if you know anyone at the hospital?” Wu Yuanyuan pleaded with Bu Ling.

The hot tea calmed Wu Yuanyuan's emotions. She composed herself and slowly began to speak:

"When I was getting off the night shift, they followed me, put a sack over my head, and then I lay in the freezing cold for several hours."
"His legs were broken, and he had a persistent high fever. We took him to the hospital. He was fine at first, but yesterday, his condition suddenly worsened. The doctor said he had a heart problem."
“I don’t remember that term either. As you know, Gu County is a small place and can’t treat such a serious illness.”
"We originally planned to go to the provincial capital, which is closer, but the doctor suggested we come to Kyoto, so we came here."
After Wu Yuanyuan finished speaking, she took a sip of water to suppress the sadness in her heart.
“My father-in-law is still in the hospital, but there are not enough beds available. We have no choice but to come to you.”
"Ling, do you know anyone like that?"
After listening, Bu Ling quickly reviewed his network of connections in his mind: "Wait a minute, I'll make a call."

After offering a few words of reassurance, Bling made a phone call.
