Chapter 50 Wu Yuanyuan's Decision

“I don’t want to give up my job,” Wu Yuanyuan said, “but I want to leave home.”

She was afraid that if her parents cried and begged her, she would soften her heart. If the job were for her brother, she might have agreed, but this time it was her sister-in-law who wanted the job, and she was absolutely unwilling.

She steadied herself and said firmly, "I want to get married!"

Buling knew she shouldn't stop her from making her own decision, but said, "Sister Yuanyuan, getting married is a big deal. You should think it over carefully."

For a girl, getting married is like being reborn, especially in this day and age, where divorce is practically nonexistent.

Wu Yuanyuan looked at Bu Ling and smiled, "Don't worry, I know the seriousness of this matter. I won't act impulsively and will carefully select the person to take charge."

She knew that Buling was worried about her, but no matter how things ended, it would all end with her getting married, unless she wanted to go to the countryside.

If she doesn't work, she'll soon have no place in this family. It's better for her to get married and choose for herself than for her mother to listen to her sister-in-law's instigation and just marry her off to anyone.

Seeing that she had a plan, Bling didn't try to persuade her further, and simply said, "Is there anything I can do to help?"

Wu Yuanyuan shook her head: "Don't get involved in this matter, lest my mother take her anger out on you."

She's her own daughter, so whatever she does is her family's business. But if Buling gets involved, it'll be a different story. Even if she doesn't want to admit it, her mother will definitely think Buling instigated her.

Buling still needs to live in this courtyard; she can't be so selfish.

"I already have a solution," Wu Yuanyuan said.

“Alright then, just tell me if you have any problems. I’m not afraid of offending your mother,” Buling said.

Wu Yuanyuan nodded without saying anything, but she kept Bu Ling's kindness in mind.

After sitting for a while, she got up and went back. As she reached the door, she said, "I won't go to and from get off work with you anymore." Then she went straight back inside.

Bu Ling watched Wu Yuanyuan's retreating figure, her brows furrowed slightly. She wondered what Wu Yuanyuan was planning to do; now they weren't even going to and from get off work together anymore.

Only after Wu Yuanyuan went inside and closed the door did she sigh and turn back into the house.

Regardless, this is her own life. She can offer help, but she can't make decisions for her.

The next day, as soon as the state-run restaurant opened in the morning, the mulberries arrived.

"Little, Buling!"

Buling looked up in response and saw the handsome young man standing in the doorway, backlit and his figure indistinct. This immediately reminded her of their first meeting.

She came out from behind the counter.

"Why are you here so early? Our head chef hasn't arrived yet."

"I've come to see you. Did you see the gift I gave you yesterday?"

“I saw it. I happen to have something to ask you. Let’s go outside and talk.” Buling looked at the person in front of her questioningly. She had already seen Han Yu peeking around in the kitchen, and even Aunt Ma had glanced at her several times.

Mulberry naturally sensed it too, and nodded.

Bling walked past him and stood under the shade of a tree not far away.

Mulberries followed at a distance that was neither too close nor too far.

Under the shade of the tree, Buling first admired the color of the mulberries before asking...

"I want to ask you, where did the medicine you gave me yesterday come from? And what exactly is it for?"

Mulberry was prepared for this. "I picked it myself; it's for treating your pain." He added, unusually, with a slight blush on his cheeks, looking like a pure and handsome young man.

Bling pursed her lips, trying to control herself.

"You know Traditional Chinese Medicine?"

Mulberry nodded: "I know a little bit."

"That's great! I'd like to find a traditional Chinese medicine doctor. Do you know where I can find one?" After saying that, Bu Ling added, "I just want to see a doctor, that's all."

These days, traditional Chinese medicine isn't popular. Most of the capable practitioners have been sent to lower levels of government, and those who remain are all hiding in the shadows, afraid of implicating their families. As an outsider, she really doesn't know where to start asking around.

Thinking back to when he took the little girl's pulse before, a hint of worry flashed in his eyes.

"I actually know where it is. I'll take you there after you get off work tonight?" He looked at the little black girl.

He was overjoyed. The little black girl really liked him; she even sought his advice on such an important matter.

"become!"

Bu Ling readily agreed, since she and Wu Yuanyuan weren't going to leave together anymore anyway.

Seeing how readily the little black girl agreed, Sangshen's lips curled up, her eyes filled with pleasure.

"It's settled then, I'll come after you get off work."

Seeing the little black girl nod, Sangshen smiled reservedly, "Then I'll go first, I still have work to do."

"Okay, see you tonight."

Watching Sangshen's bicycle disappear down the street, Buling smiled softly before composed herself and returning to the state-run restaurant.

Meanwhile, instead of going to work, Sangshen rode her bike to a secondhand store.

Pushing open the door, I saw Shen Ci frantically rummaging through the books. Only when I saw it was him did I breathe a sigh of relief.

"Why are you here again? Didn't I tell you to come less often? It's not good for you."

"What does it matter? They wouldn't dare do anything to me," Sangshen shrugged, saying nonchalantly.

“That wouldn’t be good for Sangzi either,” Shen Ci emphasized. “He’s not in a good situation right now, so don’t cause him any more trouble.”

The mulberry didn't care much.

"Don't worry, my brother is a cunning old fox. He won't be caught so easily. He's very shrewd."

Seeing him like this, Shen Ci didn't know how to comfort him.

Looking at the person sprawled on the recliner, he seemed to be in a pretty good mood today.

"Did something good happen today? Your smile is practically reaching your ears."

Mulberry reflexively tucked her lips in.

"Nothing good is going to happen, it's still the same, so boring."

Shen Ci was a little skeptical. The two of them had been playing together since they were toddlers, and Sangshen clearly looked very happy.

"Oh, you don't believe me!"

Sangshen opened her eyes, sat up, and stared directly at Chen Ci.

"Bookworm, just focus on your studies. Why are you asking so many questions? Don't you know curiosity killed the cat?" He wasn't in a good mood at all; he just felt great slacking off while everyone else was at work.

Yes, that's why.

Seeing him like this, Shen Ci knew he was back to his usual stubborn self, never able to speak properly.

Seeing that he wasn't asking any more questions, Sangshen lay back down, closed her eyes, and swayed back and forth. If she had a fan with her, she would look just like an old man.

He closed his eyes and said, "Don't worry about me, go read your book. I'm going to take a nap."

He needs to be well-rested; he still needs to see Little Blackie tonight, and he can't ruin his image in her eyes.

"This isn't a place to sleep. If you want to sleep, go home. What will we do when guests come?" Shen Ci said.

Mulberry rolled over

"Come on, how many guests do you get in a month?"

Shen Ci pursed her lips, looking at his nonchalant attitude, there was nothing she could do. Besides, he was right, so let him sleep.

He gave up, sat behind the counter, and continued reading his book.

The mulberry tree finally had some peace and quiet, and after swaying slightly, it fell asleep.
