That evening, Wu Yuanyuan told Bu Ling what she had done and then left on her own.
After settling the accounts with Manager Zhu and Grandpa Tan, Bu Ling pushed his bicycle out of the backyard. As soon as he stepped outside, he saw Mulberry waiting not far away.
Mulberry saw her too and walked over.
Let's go!
Bling nodded, giving him a suspicious look. She felt he looked different now than when she first saw him.
In the end, nothing seemed different; it can only be attributed to the handsome guy being viewed from different angles.
Sangshen pretended not to notice the little black girl's gaze and calmly rode her bicycle.
Bling immediately followed on her bike.
The two rode their bicycles one after the other towards the west of the city.
Sangshen stopped her bicycle at the entrance of the scrap yard: "We're here!"
Bling looked at the familiar junkyard with surprise.
"The old Chinese medicine doctor you're talking about, could he be the gatekeeper here?"
Mulberry parked her bicycle: "You know him?"
"I've been here before." She even slipped the old man some candy as she left.
"That's him!"
As she spoke, Sangshen walked into the recycling station.
"Old Yu?" he called out.
With a soft creak, the old man whom Buling had met once before came out of the house. Seeing the mulberries, he smiled.
"You brat, you have no manners! Call him Uncle-Master." Old Man Yu wasn't angry.
"Why did you bring a girl along? Is she your girlfriend?" This girl looks so familiar; where have I seen her before?
Sangshen blushed and retorted, "What are you saying, Old Man Yu? This is my friend; she brought her to see a doctor." Honestly, he hadn't even agreed to the little black girl's request yet.
Bling, on the contrary, remained as steady as an old dog.
Old Yu, observing the two men's seemingly reversed reactions, raised an eyebrow and said meaningfully, "Oh~ friend~"
Mulberry felt that it was so hot today.
"Stop joking around, let's get down to business. Do you want to watch or not?" He abruptly changed the subject.
“Since he’s Xiaozhen’s ‘friend,’ of course I have to help,” Old Man Yu said mischievously.
Buling wasn't surprised to see the old man acting so differently from last time; these days, everyone has multiple layers of disguise.
"Girl, come here. Are you here to treat me? Let me take your pulse." Old Man Yu beckoned.
Bling stepped forward
"Come inside." With that, Old Man Yu turned and went inside.
Mulberry gestured for Bling to follow.
The room was completely bare except for a bed and a table. A thin quilt covered the bed, and a bowl and chopsticks sat on the table. It would be an understatement to describe it as a place of extreme poverty.
Sangshen seemed used to it, pulled out three stools from behind the door, and sat down, one for each of them.
"Stretch out your hand," Old Man Yu said to Bu Ling as he sat down.
Bling obediently stretched out her hand.
"The other one!"
Bling switched to his right hand again.
Old Yu's withered hand rested on Bu Ling's wrist; their skin tones were exactly the same, except that Bu Ling's skin was more delicate.
Sangshen watched this perfectly natural scene, her eyes twitching, but she remained silent.
After a moment, Old Man Yu withdrew his hand and said to Sang Shen, "Have you taken this girl's pulse?"
Mulberry nodded
Old Yu turned to Bu Ling and said, "It's a miracle you've survived this long, you little girl."
"Malnutrition, coupled with a serious illness, has severely depleted your internal resources. Don't be fooled by your current lively appearance; even a minor cold could be fatal," Old Man Yu said solemnly.
Bling knew her physical condition; her previous doctors had also mentioned it.
Upon hearing this, Sangshen's expression changed. His skills were inadequate; he could only describe the little black girl's physical weakness, but he hadn't expected it to be so serious.
"Uncle-Master, is there any way?"
Old Man Yu glanced at Sang Shen's anxious face. "They've already called me 'Uncle-Master,' how could I possibly help them?" And they call themselves just ordinary friends?
He's just a friend, why is he so worried about that girl?
Buling also asked, "Grandpa, is there any hope for me?" She still wanted to live to ninety-nine.
"There's hope! Luckily you've been eating well lately, otherwise even I wouldn't have been able to help," Old Man Yu said.
"Old man, stop dawdling and tell me how to save him," Sang Shen urged.
Old Yu rolled his eyes at him.
"I'll prescribe you a month's worth of medicine first. Take it on time, and come back for a check-up in a month. Then I'll change the prescription for you. We'll gradually replenish your body's deficiencies."
Bling breathed a sigh of relief; at least there was hope. "Thank you, sir!"
Old Yu waved his hand, pulled out paper and pen from a crack in the wall, quickly wrote a prescription, and then blew on it to dry it.
Just as Bu Ling was about to reach out to take it, she saw Old Man Yu hand the prescription to Sang Shen.
Bling: ? ? ?
Sangshen smoothly accepted the mulberry, glanced at it, and put it in her pocket.
Bling: ? ? ?
No, she's a patient, right? How come the prescription was given to someone else?
The old man and the other man were completely oblivious to Bu Ling's speechlessness.
"When you get the medicine, don't get too much, just enough for a month."
Bling watched as the mulberry nodded.
She needs to take it easy!
Next, Old Man Yu gave a lot of instructions, which Sang Shen carefully wrote down.
Although he knows some medicine, he's only a dabbler. It's better to listen to Old Man Yu; this concerns Little Blackie's life.
After the old man and the young man finished explaining the precautions, Sangshen didn't linger. She said goodbye to Old Man Yu and left with Buling.
On the way, Buling looked at the mulberry tree, seemingly wanting to say something but then stopping herself.
Sangshen knew exactly what she wanted to say. "I'll take you to the hospital to get your medicine later."
Bu Ling quickly refused, "No need, no need. You've already gone to so much trouble today. I can go by myself. And what about Grandpa Yu's consultation fee? How much do you think is appropriate?" She had wanted to ask earlier, but this person hadn't given her the chance.
