Since it was night, the carriage was quiet. Buling and her two companions found three seats, assigned them to different places, and sat down.
Bu Ling and Sang Shen sat together, while Liang Boda sat in an empty seat not far from them.
After sitting down, Sangshen said to Buling, "Close your eyes and rest for a while. Don't worry, everything will be fine."
Bling didn't refute, nodded, leaned back, and closed his eyes.
She knew Sangshen was worried about her, but with Buyi's fate unknown, how could she possibly sleep? To avoid worrying Sangshen, she closed her eyes and pretended to be asleep.
Seeing the little black girl's bloodless lips, Sangs clicked her tongue lightly, pressed the little black girl's head onto her shoulder, and said nothing.
Buling didn't resist. Her mind was in turmoil, and the thought of the original owner's fate in that novel made her heart sink.
At times like these, having a shoulder to lean on makes a person feel much more vulnerable.
Mulberry sensed it, but didn't say anything. She simply adjusted her position silently to make the little black girl more comfortable.
He didn't know what the little black girl's family was like, but judging from the fact that she hadn't mentioned any other relatives besides her brother over the years, he could roughly guess what they were like.
Hebei Province is right next to Kyoto, not too far. The train passed through Kyoto on the second day at noon, and that's when Bu Ling and his two companions got off.
After getting out of the car, Bu Ling looked at Liang Boda and asked, "Brother Liang, which hospital is my brother in? How do we get there?"
"Military hospital!" As for how to get there, he had no idea. He had been driven there when he left, and because he was worried about Old Bu, he hadn't remembered the way.
Sangshen gave Liang Boda a disdainful look.
"Come with me, I know the way."
Unsuspecting, Bu Ling immediately followed Sang Shen, and Liang Boda had no choice but to follow as well.
Sangshen led the two out of the train station, boarded a bus, transferred to another bus, and two hours later, the three of them stood outside the military hospital.
Military hospitals are different from regular hospitals; everyone has to register to enter or leave. Fortunately, Liang Boda was reliable this time. He showed his military officer's ID to the guard, and the three of them were able to enter the hospital smoothly.
Liang Boda led Bu Ling and the other person up to the third floor, to room 306, and pushed open the door to enter.
Brling followed him into the ward. The first thing that caught his eye was the figure lying on the hospital bed. Brling staggered a couple of steps as he approached the bed.
Before he could speak, tears streamed down his face. "Brother! Brother! Buyi!"
On the hospital bed, Bu Yi was wrapped in bandages from head to toe, revealing only his handsome face. His cheeks were sunken, and his peach blossom eyes, identical to Bu Ling's, were tightly closed. His lips were pale, and there were small wounds on his face, giving him a sickly beauty.
Bu Ling gently grasped Bu Yi's rough, large hand, choking back tears and unable to speak.
His brother was fine when he left, how come he came back like this?
"Brother, brother, it's me, Lingling. Brother, brother, don't leave me. You promised me you would come back. You promised me."
Buyi remained unresponsive, like a finely crafted mannequin.
Seeing the little black girl like this, Sangshen quickly stepped forward, put her arm around her shoulder, and gave her strength.
Liang Boda's eyes also reddened; he turned away and wiped away his tears.
The other two people in the ward felt bad seeing this scene.
The middle-aged man stood up and walked over to Liang Boda, whispering, "Liang, have you told the family about the situation?"
Liang Boda silently shook his head; he didn't know what to say.
The middle-aged man sighed, said nothing to blame, and walked heavily behind Buling.
"Comrade Buling!"
When Buling heard the sound, she turned around, her eyes blurry with tears, unable to see the expression on the person behind her. Sangshen raised her hand and wiped away her tears.
"I...I am...I am Buling, this leader, my brother...my brother..."
The middle-aged man looked somewhat ashamed, but still said, "Comrade Buyi is an excellent soldier. We will do our best to save him. You, his family, can rest assured."
What could Bling say? She didn't react at all, just stared blankly, as if she hadn't heard a thing.
"Comrade, how is Comrade Buyi's injury?" Sangzhen asked.
The middle-aged man glanced at him. Who was this kid? He'd never heard of Little Bu having a younger brother.
Faced with Sangshen's urging gaze, "Comrade Buyi doesn't want to wake up right now, so we can only ask his family to try and stimulate him. His physical injuries aren't fatal." But if things continue like this, it's hard to say what will happen.
Bu Yi and Liang Boda's mission team consisted of 31 people, but only the two of them returned. Liang Boda was able to escape unscathed because he was in charge of logistics.
As for Comrade Buyi, facing the tragic deaths of his twenty-nine comrades, as the sole survivor, the guilt in his heart and the horrific sight of his fallen comrades overwhelmed him.
Liang Boda dragged him out of the pile of corpses. When he was dragged out, Bu Yi was covered in blood, and if it weren't for the fact that he was still breathing, he would have been a dead man.
More than half a month has passed since the two were rescued. Experts from major hospitals have examined them and reached a strikingly similar conclusion: Buyi himself did not want to wake up.
Having no other choice, they contacted the family, hoping they could awaken Comrade Buyi's will to live.
After explaining Bu Yi's current situation in detail, the middle-aged man looked at Bu Ling and said, "Comrade Bu Ling, you can talk to Comrade Bu Yi more."
Bling nodded; she would do it even without him saying so.
Seeing Bu Yi's gaunt face, Bu Ling forced herself to cheer up, "Brother Liang, Sang Shen, you two go and rest first. I'll stay here with my brother."
"I'll stay with you!"
"I'll stay with you!" they both said in unison.
Buling forced a smile: "My brother and I have some private things to say, and it's not convenient for you to hear them."
