Three days later
With all of the Du family's wealth in his pocket, Bu Ling returned to the textile factory's residential compound.
Almost as soon as I stepped into the family quarters, I was surrounded.
"Buling girl, you're back?" Granny Li asked first.
Bling pursed her lips and nodded.
"What about your parents? Will they be able to come back?"
Bling shook her head and said softly, "I...I don't know."
"Then why were you able to come back?"
"What else could it be? It must have nothing to do with Buling girl. Our leader said that he won't let a bad person go unpunished, nor will he wrong an innocent person." Mouth immediately retorted on behalf of Granny Li.
Bling looked at her gratefully.
Granny Li puffed out her chest, feeling extremely proud of herself; she was indeed an educated woman.
"Of the Du family, only Bu Ling has returned so far, is that...?" The rest of the sentence left much to the imagination.
"I think so. Old Du is a traitor," said Neighbor A.
"You're still called Lao Du?" Aunt Ding said with ill intent.
The topic gradually veered off course, and when Buling realized that no one was paying attention to her anymore, she immediately sneaked home like a thief.
Granny Li's eyes darted around, and she immediately followed.
Hearing footsteps, Bu Ling turned around and looked at her, asking softly, "Grandma Li, is there anything else?"
"Buling, what are you going to do in the future? You don't have any relatives here. The factory will probably take this house back soon. Do you have any plans?" Her words were half gossip and half genuine concern for Buling.
Bling could also sense that she meant no harm, and she smiled slightly.
"Grandma Li, don't worry about me. My boss helped me find my brother, and he said I can go and live with him," Bu Ling whispered.
"You have an older brother?" Granny Li asked in surprise.
“Yes, half-siblings, haven’t been in contact for over ten years.” Bu Ling nodded slightly.
"Then your brother must be a good person." The fact that your brother, whom you haven't contacted for over ten years, agreed to let Buling live with you shows that he still cares about his sister. This means that Buling's life will be much easier from now on.
“Yes, my brother is a very nice person,” Bu Ling said cheerfully.
"Buling, when you get to your brother's house, remember to be observant, okay? And do more chores," Granny Li instructed.
"Yes, I understand. Thank you, Grandma Li," Bu Ling said sincerely.
When they arrived at the door, Buling had just opened it when she suddenly remembered something and turned to Granny Li.
"Grandma Li, would you like to take a look at my house and see if there's anything you need? I can sell it to you at a discount." She lowered her head slightly, looking a little embarrassed.
He immediately explained, "I don't have money to buy a train ticket, but I can afford the price of one train ticket."
Hearing this, Granny Li's smile brightened considerably. She walked behind Bu Ling and said, "Then this old woman won't stand on ceremony. We just happen to be missing a wardrobe, and the bed needs to be replaced as well."
Bu Ling pushed open the door and said to Granny Li, "Grandma Li, you choose first. After you've made your choice, I'll go ask the other neighbors if they want it too."
"Alright, then Grandma will choose." Granny Li scanned the room with her old eyes.
"Bu Ling, take a look, how much does this bed and cabinet cost?" She quickly took a liking to the bed and cabinet in Du Weilong's bedroom.
"Grandma Li, I don't know how much it should cost, you can give me whatever you think is appropriate." She wasn't doing this for the money, but to make others believe that she had no money.
Old Lady Li pondered for a moment and said, "I won't cheat you. How about this, the two items will cost twelve yuan in total."
“No problem, Grandma Li, but you’ll have to transport it back yourself,” Bu Ling said readily.
After she finished speaking, she pursed her lips and said, "Grandma Li, I'll give you this dressing table too. Could you help me sell the other things in the house as well?"
Granny Li thumped her chest loudly and said, "No problem, leave it to this old woman."
This good thing shouldn't be given to anyone else. It's a dressing table, and even an old one costs five yuan. It's perfect for her daughter. Granny Li thought to herself with delight.
Soon, thanks to Granny Li's vigorous promotion, the Du family's belongings were quickly snapped up by neighbors who came to buy them, and even the glass was removed and sold.
Buling put the 135 yuan she got from selling the furniture into her spatial storage, packed a few pieces of the original owner's clothes, took a quick look around the house, and left without a second thought.
Under the pitying gazes of the crowd, she went to the subdistrict office and obtained a letter of introduction to Hebei Province. She needed to transfer her grain ration to obtain an urban household registration, but she would need a household registration certificate first. After she settled her household registration, she would have to come back again.
She then took a shuttle bus to the Public Security Bureau. Perhaps because someone had put in a good word for her, her household registration was transferred very quickly, and it was completed in less than ten minutes.
After thinking about it, she went to the school again, intending to ask about the high school diploma.
"Bu Ling?" Teacher Wang looked at the girl standing in front of her in surprise.
"How is your family?" he asked with concern after hearing that something had happened to Buling's family.
Bu Ling shook his head, offering no explanation, and instead asked, "Teacher Wang, my high school diploma..."
“I’ll send you your graduation certificate once it’s issued.” Principal Wu suddenly appeared in the office.
Bling bowed to them and said, "I'm going to leave here to live with my brother. I'll send you and Teacher Wang letters once I'm settled."
Principal Wu nodded and asked, "When do you plan to leave?"
