On the way back, the atmosphere in the car remained heavy. The car headed north, entered the county town, and stopped at Yangliu Hutong.
As Bu Ling opened the car door to get out, Sang Zi suddenly said, "Comrade Bu Ling, thank you."
Bling raised an eyebrow: "It's okay, I already got paid." However, Mulberry's brother's tone was a little strange.
Sangzi didn't say anything more. Although they had been paid, since the other party had risked their lives for them, they deserved a thank you.
"Xiao Zhen, take care of Comrade Bu Ling," he instructed again. Although he knew what his younger brother was thinking, the girl hadn't agreed yet.
"Brother, don't worry." Sang Shen readily agreed. Even if his brother hadn't said anything, he would have taken care of the little black girl. "We'll head back now."
As he spoke, he got out of the car, took two stools out of the trunk, and said to Buling, "Let's go, we're going back."
Bu Ling nodded, greeted Sang Zi and the other person, got out of the car, and followed Sang Shen.
Only after the two figures disappeared into the compound did he start the car and head towards the other side of the residential area.
"Xiao Dong, it's too late today, why don't you stay at my place?"
“Brother Sangzi, never mind, just put me down up ahead. I have some things to take care of tonight.”
Sang Zi didn't insist. She put Xie Dong down and said, "Be careful, these are turbulent times."
If someone is watching Xiao Ci, it's not impossible that no one is watching them, especially since Xie Dong's current actions could easily be used against him.
"I understand, Brother Sangzi." Xie Dong was someone who listened to advice.
Seeing that he understood, Sangzi nodded and drove away.
Xie Dong watched the car drive away before walking in the opposite direction.
When Buling and Sangshen returned to the courtyard, it was almost ten o'clock. Everyone was resting. Yu Dabao, who opened the door for them, saw that they looked like they had just come back from outside and asked in surprise, "Why are you so late?"
Sangshen raised the stool in her hand and said, "We went to order furniture, so we came back a little late."
Yu Dabao had only asked casually, without intending to delve deeper. He nodded, and after the two entered, he closed the door again.
Once inside the courtyard, Buling said to Sangshen, "I still have some noodles. I'll cook some and bring you a bowl later, so you don't need to cook anything." It was so late; she wasn't in the mood for anything else.
"Okay, I'll do as you say."
Sangshen handed the stool to Buling, who took it and went back into the house.
The two went their separate ways. The first thing Bling did upon arriving home was to turn on the coal stove, boil water, cook some noodles, and fry two eggs—one for herself and one for Sangshen. Finally, she opened a can of luncheon meat, cut it in half, put the meat in a bowl, and brought it to Sangshen.
Sangshen didn't stand on ceremony, saying, "I'll wash the dishes and return them to you tomorrow."
"Okay. I'll head back now."
"Okay, get some rest."
After finishing a bowl of hot noodle soup, Buling felt warm all over. Now that the weather was cold, she wasn't so particular about hygiene and didn't need to wipe her body every day. She quickly washed her feet and lay down on the bed to sleep.
Since transmigrating, she's developed a biological clock, working at sunrise and resting at sunset. This sudden all-nighter is a bit too much for her.
The next day, Bu Ling was woken up by Wu Yuanyuan. After hearing what Wu Yuanyuan said, Bu Ling sat up abruptly, took out his watch from under his pillow, and looked at it.
Goodness, it's 8:40 already, only 20 minutes left before I have to go to work.
She threw back the covers, the cold air jolting her awake a little. She put on her clothes, but the chill made her completely sober again. Shaking her head, she got out of bed, put on her shoes, took two pieces of steamed rice cake from the snack box, and made herself a cup of malted milk powder.
Then, grabbing her toothbrush cup, she opened the door, gave Wu Yuanyuan a fawning smile, and then shoved her aside to brush her teeth and wash her face at the tap.
Enduring the icy water, she brushed her teeth with a grimace, then rushed back into the house like the wind. Under Wu Yuanyuan's dumbfounded gaze, she quickly finished her breakfast, slung her army green bag over her shoulder, and grinned at Wu Yuanyuan, saying, "Let's go, Sister Yuanyuan."
Wu Yuanyuan: "You..."
"Yuanyuan, we're going to be late, let's hurry." Buling pushed Wu Yuanyuan down the steps, then pushed the bicycle out and locked the door.
"Oh, okay!" Wu Yuanyuan knew this wasn't the time for idle chatter.
After Buling settled in, she rode her bicycle out of the compound, pedaling as fast as she could, trying not to be late.
Actually, Bu Ling has been working here for almost half a year, and being late once or twice occasionally isn't a big deal.
The main problem is that Bu Ling is unwilling. She's hoping to find fault with Han Yu, and if she herself isn't clean, how can she righteously condemn others?
Fortunately, Wu Yuanyuan was a skilled driver and quite strong, and she arrived at the state-run restaurant at the last minute, thus avoiding being late. She breathed a sigh of relief.
If Bu Ling's decision to avoid being late was intentional, then Wu Yuanyuan's moral standards were simply too high; in her mind, being late was an absolutely unforgivable thing.
Bu Ling sighed, "Yuan Yuan is still too inexperienced!"
Look at Grandpa Tan, he's always half an hour late, but he's still so calm and unhurried. She should learn from him!
It was another busy day. Because the weather has turned cooler recently, Grandpa Tan especially likes to make hot soup and meals to keep him warm.
Grandpa Tan's cooking skills are top-notch. His crucian carp and tofu soup is so delicious that you'll want to swallow your tongue. Bu Ling couldn't resist taking out her money to buy a serving.
Over the past six months, Bu Ling has become quite familiar with Grandpa Tan, learning that he is now a level five chef, which is a remarkable achievement in a small county town. With his skills, he could easily become the head chef of a state-run restaurant in Shuishi or Hebei Province.
Bu Ling had asked this before, but Grandpa Tan just smiled and didn't say anything.
