"Aunt, I'm back."
"Lingling's back? Come in quickly, it's terribly cold outside!" Aunt Sang lifted the cotton curtain and greeted her.
Buling parked her bicycle and hurried into the house: "Sister Huaxin, Auntie!"
"Bling, little sister!"
Li Huaxin also greeted Bu Ling.
Buling smiled, took off her hat, gloves, and scarf, and then took off her cotton coat before accepting the hot water her aunt handed her to warm her hands.
After the chill dissipated, she took her eldest daughter from her: "Sister Huaxin, you two chat first, I'll go feed Little Star."
"OK."
The eldest daughter was clearly hungry; as soon as the granary was revealed, she couldn't wait to eat it in large mouthfuls.
Looking at the little figure lying on her chest, Bu Ling's expression softened.
After feeding her, she patted Little Star's back to help her burp and lull her to sleep before tidying her clothes and leaving the house.
"Little sister Buling, come here quickly. These are freshly roasted chestnuts, still warm. Have some." Li Huaxin called out.
Bu Ling didn't stand on ceremony. She sat down next to her, picked up a chestnut, and slowly peeled it: "Sister Hua Xin, where is Auntie?"
"Auntie took the frozen pears; we just thawed them this afternoon, so they're perfect to eat now," Li Huaxin explained.
"You guys are so relaxed~" Bling was extremely envious.
Li Huaxin smiled but didn't say anything.
"Hua Hin, Ling Ling, come and have some frozen pears to cool down!"
"Okay!"
"Thank you, Auntie!"
The mother and her two children sat around the coal stove, eating roasted chestnuts and sucking on frozen pears—it couldn't have been more enjoyable.
Until the arrival of the Mulberry Brothers...
"Auntie, Lingling, Comrade Li." Sangshen lifted the curtain and entered the house, waving a large piece of meat in her hand: "Auntie, Xie Dong got a big piece of mutton. Shall we have hot pot tonight? It'll be more fun with more people."
When Auntie looked at the large piece of mutton, her first thought was that it would last a long time to cook. So when she heard Sangshen's words, she opened her mouth to refuse.
However, thinking of Li Huaxin and Bu Ling beside him, he swallowed the words that were about to come out: "Alright."
Upon hearing this, Sangshen immediately beamed with joy: "Auntie is the best."
His aunt glanced at him with a smile: "Stop being silly!" She stood up: "I'll go wash the vegetables, you come with me, you'll have to make the dipping sauce for the pot."
"Okay!" Sangshen readily agreed.
Seeing his aunt walk towards him, he quickly moved to a corner, then watched helplessly as she lifted the curtain, his smile freezing on his face.
"Sang Zi, you little brat! You dare come back!"
