The day Bu Ling's house was completely renovated, Chen Cong was told by the doctor that he could be discharged from the hospital.
Not only Aunt Tian, but everyone in the compound breathed a sigh of relief. This hospital was definitely not a place that ordinary families could afford.
Chen Cong stayed in the hospital for a total of thirteen days, incurring a total cost of just over one hundred yuan. If Aunt Tian hadn't sold her house, she definitely wouldn't have been able to afford it.
As a result, when the grandmother and granddaughter were discharged from the hospital, they had both lost a lot of weight. Grandma Tian was already thin, and after more than ten days, she was now just a skeleton; her cheeks were sunken.
That morning, when Buling and Wu Yuanyuan brought breakfast, Aunt Tian told them that Congcong could be discharged from the hospital today.
"Really? That's wonderful!" Wu Yuanyuan was also happy for the two of them.
"Congcong, are you happy?" Buling looked at the little boy on the hospital bed with a smile.
"Happy." The child's voice was still a little weak, but much better than at the beginning.
Bling touched the child's forehead: "Remember this lesson, okay? If you feel unwell in the future, you must tell Grandma. You scared Grandma this time."
The child nodded obediently: "I understand, Sister Buling, Grandma. I won't do it again. I'm sorry."
Grandma Tian looked at her grandson with affection: "It's good that Congcong knows he was wrong. Grandma forgives you."
She then said to Bu Ling and the other person, "You two should go to work now. We'll talk properly when we get home tonight."
"Alright, it's getting late, let's go to work now. Aunt Tian, see you tonight, Congcong."
"Goodbye, Sister Buling! Goodbye, Sister Yuanyuan!"
Goodbye~
The two left the hospital together, and Wu Yuanyuan couldn't hide her smile: "That's great, I'm finally alright."
Bling thought so too.
Both of them were in good moods that day and didn't find Han Yu as annoying, which made Han Yu feel rather uncomfortable.
Ever since Wu Yuanyuan started working, she and Bu Ling have been on the same page. Bu Ling, on the other hand, had been lukewarm towards him since the beginning of her job, which he had gotten used to. It was a rare treat to see these two women smiling, and his first reaction was one of being flattered.
If Bu Ling knew what Han Yu was thinking, she'd be laughing her head off. Han Yu even has masochistic tendencies!
After getting off work in the evening, I returned to the compound, and Grandma Tian and her grandson were already home.
"Aunt Tian, what are you making? It smells so good!" The two of them smelled a cloying fragrance as soon as they entered the courtyard.
Aunt Tian came out with a spatula and greeted the two of them with a smile: "You have such a sharp nose. I fried some eggplant sandwiches and will bring you a bowl later."
"Okay, then I won't refuse." Buling agreed, looking quite greedy.
Aunt Tian smiled and pointed at her: "Don't be so polite with me, just wait, it'll be ready in a while."
Bu Ling smiled sweetly and was about to walk into Wu Yuanyuan's room when Sang Shen came out of her room.
"Buling, come quick, the kang (heated brick bed) is dry, you can stay here tonight."
"Really?" Bling turned and walked towards the main house.
"Just come in and see for yourself." Sangshen leaned against the door with her arms crossed, looking completely spineless.
Bling ignored his display of power; her mind was now entirely focused on her room. She stepped over the mulberries, pushed open the door, and looked at the much brighter room, feeling quite satisfied.
To the left of the entrance is a table with several stools and four small folding stools underneath. To the right is a washstand with a white basin with red flowers on it, and a rope is strung up above it to hang towels.
Further ahead was a large vat filled with grains, even mulberries, and cornmeal. Next to the vat was a cupboard with bowls on top, meat and flour on the sides, and sweet potatoes and vegetables at the bottom.
Next was a stove, entirely made of red bricks, square in shape, with a perfectly sized iron pot on top. To the right of the stove was a coal stove, and both the stove and the coal stove were connected to chimneys, sharing a single flue.
Then there's a 1.5-meter-wide, floor-to-ceiling fire wall, right next to the stove. This way, when cooking, the fire wall and the kang (heated brick bed) can heat up on their own, eliminating the need to heat the kang separately.
To the right was her wardrobe, which was one meter wide, with a door in the middle. Inside was a heated kang bed, and at the end of the bed were two trunks.
There was originally one, but then another mulberry was added, and it fit perfectly at the end of the kang (heated brick bed), and could also be used as a table.
Bling became more and more satisfied and fond of the house as she looked around. It was a world of difference from when she first moved in.
"How is it? Do you like it?" Sangshen asked from behind her.
Bling nodded repeatedly: "This is so great! It's exactly what I planned, even better. Mulberry, you're so kind."
The mulberry felt completely relaxed after being praised. All these busy days were for this moment.
“I’m glad you like it. I also made a shoe cabinet for you. It’s not finished yet, but once it’s done, I’ll put it next to the washstand. That way, it’ll be neater.”
"Mmm, you're so thoughtful." Buling felt that Mulberry was constantly surprising him.
She was initially attracted to his looks, then liked his sense of security, and now she's discovered his thoughtful side—he's truly a treasure! She's struck gold; such a gem is rare, and now that she's found him, he's hers.
"Is there anything else you want? Just tell me, and I'll get it all for you." (Sang Shen)
Bu Ling looked around, then leaned closer and whispered, "I want a cellar so I can store vegetables. Aunt Tian told me that there will be a winter vegetable supply around the New Year, and no ration coupons are needed. If I buy some then, I won't have anywhere to put them."
Moreover, having a cellar allows you to store things that are not convenient to show to others.
