Buling snapped out of her reverie: "Nothing, I was just thinking about something." Something about spending money.
"Oh, okay," Sister Ma replied, getting up to pour herself some water.
After organizing her words of persuasion for Manager Zhu, Bu Ling stood up and knocked on the door of the manager's office.
As soon as Bu Ling knocked, the door opened. Before she could even ask what was wrong, Manager Zhu looked at her with surprise: "Comrade Bu, is there something you need?"
Dispelling his doubts, Bling nodded.
"Then you say it." Manager Zhu, carrying a briefcase, looked like he was about to leave.
Bu Ling wasn't oblivious: "Manager, are you leaving?"
"It's alright, I'm not in a hurry. Tell me what's on your mind." Manager Zhu let Bu Ling into the room.
Since the manager had said so, Bu Ling didn't stand on ceremony and got straight to the point: "Manager, it's so hot in the kitchen this summer. I was wondering if we should ask the higher-ups for an electric fan?"
"I'm not just thinking about myself. You see, our restaurant gets fewer customers in the summer, and we end up with a lot of leftover food. With this electric fan, Chef Lü and the others won't be sweating so much..."
“Okay, I’ll apply to my superiors.” Seeing that Bu Ling was about to launch into a long speech, Manager Zhu interrupted her without any manners: “I’ll apply tomorrow.”
Before Bu Ling could finish her long speech, Manager Zhu agreed so easily, leaving her speechless for once. "Will the higher-ups agree?" she asked.
Manager Zhu shook his head and simply said, "I'll try my best." Then he looked up at Bu Ling and asked, "Is there anything else?"
"there is none left."
Manager Zhu then stood up, picked up his briefcase, and was about to leave when Bu Ling followed him out of the office.
As he left the office, watching Manager Zhu's hurried figure, he murmured, "Was he in such a rush?"
