Chapter 154 Where is my baby?
The two sneaked to Zhong Guosheng's grave under the cover of night.
Zhong Xiaoyang couldn't help but exclaim, "Brother Chengyi, you're really amazing! Hiding something in your own father's grave... who would have thought!"
Zhong Chengyi, however, didn't take it seriously: "What's wrong with hiding him in a grave? My dad has been dead for so many years... Besides, he's my own father, so he should bless me to make a lot of money!"
"So I think he definitely won't blame me!"
Zhong Chengyi, with a smug tone, led Zhong Xiaoyang around to the back of the grave and had Zhong Xiaoyang dig with him.
However, after digging for a while, the two of them still couldn't find the big black box that Zhong Chengyi had buried.
After digging out another rock, Zhong Chengyi realized something was wrong.
That shouldn't be the case. They've dug this deep; they should have already found the box he buried!
He stopped, but Zhong Xiaoyang continued digging.
Zhong Chengyi now had a bad feeling.
What happened? Why is that big black box he buried gone? That can't be! No one else knows he buried it here; he only brought Zhong Xiaoyang along because he felt safe seeing him this timeā¦
Zhong Xiaoyang kept digging, and finally, his hoe hit a piece of wood.
He immediately took out his flashlight and shone it on the surface, then exclaimed with delight, "Brother Chengyi! I've found it!"
Zhong Chengyi was taken aback, and quickly went over to take a look. His face immediately darkened.
He raised his hand and slapped Zhong Xiaoyang on the head: "What the hell did you dig up! You dug up my dad's coffin!"
Zhong Xiaoyang was dumbfounded: "Huh?"
Zhong Chengyi's expression turned serious: "Something's happened!"
Zhong Xiaoyang was taken aback: "Brother Chengyi, what happened?"
Zhong Chengyi was furious: "What else happened... Didn't you notice we've dug up my dad's coffin?"
The box I buried is gone!
Zhong Xiaoyang immediately gasped.
Zhong Chengyi, however, kept a stern face and began to backfill the soil with a hoe.
Zhong Xiaoyang didn't dare to say anything and started filling the hole with soil as well.
After all the soil had been filled back in, Zhong Xiaoyang cautiously approached and asked, "Brother Chengyi, what do we do now?"
"How should I know!" Zhong Chengyi was very annoyed.
After a long pause, he finally spoke with a fierce expression: "We've been out all this time, so someone must have found out about this and took the stuff away while we were away!"
As he spoke, he looked at Zhong Xiaoyang with a suspicious gaze.
Zhong Xiaoyang's heart skipped a beat, and he quickly said, "Brother Chengyi, you only told me about this this afternoon! We've been together ever since, I haven't had time to tip anyone off!"
Zhong Chengyi knew that Zhong Xiaoyang definitely didn't have the time, but how could something that was buried so well suddenly disappear?
Thinking of this, Zhong Chengyi kicked a stone on the ground in frustration.
"Let's go home first! We can investigate more thoroughly in a few days!"
If he finds out who stole his treasure, he'll kill that person!
The two made their way down the mountain in the dark and went home separately.
Zhong Chengyi carefully kept the money he had earned on his person. He couldn't care less about anything else at the moment, and just wanted to get home and boil some water to take a bath.
The problem now is that the house he lives in doesn't have a stove, and he doesn't dare to go to Zhang Chunxue's yard to borrow their kitchen. So he had to hide all the money he had at home before he finally found his way to Zhong Chengfa's makeshift kitchen and prepared to borrow it.
He made rustling noises, waking up Zhong Chengfa, who was already having trouble sleeping.
Zhong Chengfa thought there was a thief in the house, so he got out of bed, grabbed a small stool, and quietly looked out the window.
But after looking for a long time, all I could see was a single figure busy in front of his kitchen, which didn't look like someone who was there to steal anything.
Zhong Chengfa stared at the firelight from the stove for a long time before finally tentatively asking, "Third brother?"
Zhong Chengyi was startled and almost jumped in fright.
He suddenly looked up at Zhong Chengfa, his expression somewhat embarrassed: "Big brother, did I wake you up?"
His raising his head startled Zhong Chengfa once again.
"Holy crap! Third brother, you've become a homeless person? What's wrong with you, you look like a ghost?"
Zhong Chengyi's eyes flickered for a moment: "More or less! Didn't I just want to boil water for a bath as soon as I got back?"
"I...I haven't built a stove yet, so I'll just use yours for now, brother..."
Zhong Chengfa rolled his eyes speechlessly: "Then remember to replenish the firewood you used tomorrow..."
Zhong Chengyi's face immediately darkened, and his voice became indifferent.
"Brother, the money you borrowed from me last time..."
Zhong Chengfa's face darkened: "Fine, fine, you can use it! You can use it, okay?"
He yawned again: "Keep it down, don't wake your sister-in-law and your nephew."
After saying that, he closed the window and prepared to go back to his room to sleep.
But after thinking for a moment, he added, "Oh, by the way, Mom got married a couple of days ago."
After saying this, he completely disregarded Zhong Chengyi's reaction, slammed the door shut, and went to bed.
Zhong Chengyi was scooping freshly boiled water into the bucket when Zhong Chengfa said that, causing the ladle in his hand to fall into the water with a splash, scalding him and making him yell "Ouch!"
But at this moment, he couldn't care less about being burned; his mind was filled with what Zhong Chengfa had just said.
His mother... got married?
Who did she marry? Song Xingzhi?
When? A couple of days ago?
Zhong Chengyi felt like he was being scratched by a cat; he wanted nothing more than to grab Zhong Chengfa and ask him what had happened.
But after hesitating for a while, he held back and continued scooping water.
However, he couldn't resist glancing towards the backyard.
His mother got married... So, does she still live here?
Looking at the dark rooms in the backyard, Zhong Chengyi felt extremely conflicted.
The next morning, Zhong Chengyi was awakened by Zhong Hongqing's crying and Li Hongjuan's cursing in the courtyard.
Zhong Chengyi didn't get back until late last night, and it was past 3 a.m. when he finally took a shower and went to bed. It was only a little past 6 a.m. when he was woken up again. He was so angry.
He got up in frustration, opened the window, and saw Li Hongjuan still cursing.
"Look how dirty you are as soon as you get up! It's no trouble for me to do the laundry!"
Zhong Hongqing didn't say anything, just stood under the eaves looking aggrieved.
Zhong Chengfa also came out of the house looking impatient: "He's wearing yesterday's dirty clothes! And you didn't change him into clean ones!"
"What are you yelling about so early in the morning! Hurry up and make breakfast!"
He glanced at his pitiful son again, and became even more irritated.
"What kind of old woman dresses her son like a little beggar?!"
