Chapter 172 Zhong Chengren's Story of Buying Braised Food
Meng Wanshu was in the grain and oil station, watching Zhang Chunxue's stall being surrounded by people again, and she was filled with rage.
She had also heard about the poisoning of Zhang Chunxue's family and knew that the poisoner was Zhang Dashun, who had already been arrested.
She thought to herself, "This Zhang Dashun is utterly useless; he can't even poison someone properly."
If he really had the ability to poison Zhang Chunxue and her family to death, that would be truly impressive.
Seeing Zhang Chunxue setting up her stall outside the grain and oil station again, Meng Wanshu felt an urge to rush over and overturn it.
But she didn't dare.
She didn't even dare to appear in front of Zhang Chunxue.
Zhong Chengren, for some unknown reason, probably because he won some money playing cards last night, came out with great enthusiasm to pick up Meng Wanshu from get off work.
Upon arriving at the grain and oil station, he saw a crowd gathered in front of him and randomly pulled one of them aside to ask a question.
"What are they selling here? Why are there so many people?"
The man casually replied, "I sell braised food and braised pork offal!"
His eyes lit up: "That taste, it was so delicious!"
Upon hearing this, Zhong Chengren immediately became interested: "Then I'll buy some too!"
He figured Meng Wanshu seemed to really like braised food, so he bought some to take back for her; she'd definitely be happy.
I just don't know, Zhang Dashun didn't used to have a stall here, so why is he here today...?
No wonder he didn't see Zhang Dashun's stall when he passed by over there; it turns out he came over here.
So Zhong Chengren moved closer and started squeezing into the crowd.
Those who were pushed aside by him couldn't help but curse.
"Why are you pushing and shoving? Are you in a hurry to be reborn or to see your mother?"
As Zhong Chengren squeezed in, he turned his head and cursed, "I'm fucking squeezing in, so what? There's no one in line anyway!"
After he finished cursing, he turned around and prepared to ask Zhang Dashun, who was running a stall, to quickly give him some braised dishes.
But when he looked up and saw the expressionless person in front of him, Zhong Chengren's legs trembled.
How the hell is this his mother?
Zhang Chunxue stared coldly at Zhong Chengren and roared, "Get the hell out of here and line up!"
Zhong Chengren dared not refute, and immediately pushed through the crowd to sit at the back and join the queue.
The others were also taken aback, exchanged glances, and quickly and quietly lined up in queue.
Zhang Chunxue never expected such a pleasant surprise.
Of course, she also hoped that these guests would line up, but these days, it's impossible to expect these people to have high standards of manners. So, Zhang Chunxue usually tries to remember who is in front and who is behind, and manually puts them in line in her mind.
However, in order to maintain her image and fear that customers might think she was too fierce and be too scared to come back to buy things, Zhang Chunxue added, "That brat is my son."
They exchanged glances again.
A middle-aged man quickly spoke up: "Sister Zhang, if even your son has to wait in line, then it would be unreasonable for us not to."
Everyone thought it made sense, so the line became even more orderly.
Zhong Chengren was now stuck in the middle of the line.
He wanted to leave, but now it's not easy for him to leave.
After all, Zhang Chunxue's shout had made everyone aware that he was her son. If he slipped away now, he would probably be discovered immediately, and then people would start making a fuss, and his mother would find out again.
He'll get what's coming to him then.
Therefore, he could only continue queuing with a distressed expression.
The thought of facing Zhang Chunxue later made Zhong Chengren feel a little timid.
In the midst of this tension, it was finally Zhong Chengren's turn.
Zhang Chunxue looked at him with a half-smile: "Oh, Zhong Chengren, what made you decide to buy braised food?"
Zhong Chengren forced himself to speak: "Mom, I really didn't know you were setting up a stall here... I saw so many people when I came over... so I didn't look closely..."
He shrank back: "If I had known it was you, Mom, setting up a stall here..."
Zhang Chunxue looked at him calmly: "If you had known it was me, what would you have done?"
Zhong Chengren thought to himself, "Then I'll definitely run as far away as possible."
But he dared not say it out loud, and could only chuckle awkwardly: "If I had known it would be like this, I would have just shamelessly asked Mom to get me some."
Zhang Chunxue snorted coldly, "You really are shameless!"
She said impatiently, "What do you want to buy? Just tell me!"
Zhong Chengren immediately put on a fawning smile: "Mom, I'll take anything... How about you just give me some of the least popular items from your stall?"
Upon hearing this, Zhang Chunxue replied calmly, "No, because all of my varieties sell quite well."
Zhong Chengren was speechless. Zhang Chunxue, however, was even more impatient: "Just tell me what you want to eat, don't waste time!"
"Didn't you see there's a line behind you?"
Zhong Chengren, with a bitter face, quickly pointed to a few random ones.
Zhang Chunxue gave each of them some, cut them up, and weighed them.
"Two dollars and thirty-seven cents!" She wrapped it up for him in oil paper.
Zhong Chengren immediately took out ten yuan and handed it over, his face beaming with a fawning smile: "Mom, keep the change, keep the change... consider the extra as my way of showing my respect to you."
Zhang Chunxue handed the money to Zhong Xiaoxiao and retorted, "Do you think I need a few dollars from you?"
Zhong Xiaoxiao readily took some money from the money box and stuffed it into her second brother's hand: "These few dollars...tsk tsk!"
Zhong Chengren immediately glared at her.
Zhong Xiaoxiao, however, was not afraid of him and even made a face at him, which infuriated Zhong Chengren.
Zhang Chunxue tapped on the counter again, her tone full of impatience: "Get out of here after you've bought everything! Don't delay my business!"
Zhong Chengren immediately slunk away.
He rushed straight into the grain and oil station to find Meng Wanshu.
Zhang Chunxue watched his retreating figure and couldn't help but let out a heavy snort.
As expected, he went to find Meng Wanshu. Those two should be locked up.
When Zhong Chengren arrived at the grain and oil station, he saw Meng Wanshu and exclaimed with lingering fear, "Oh my god, that scared me to death!"
"I just saw a braised food stall there, and since you like it, I was going to buy some... but I didn't expect to find out that the person selling braised food was actually my mom!"
"I was so scared I almost jumped out of my skin! My legs were shaking!"
He rambled on and on, only to see Meng Wanshu staring at him with a gloomy face.
Her gaze then fell on the oil paper package containing the braised food in his hand: "So you bought all this stuff from your mom?"
Zhong Chengren looked completely bewildered: "Otherwise what? Aren't I talking about this right now?"
He was still muttering to himself, "Isn't that Zhang Dashun selling braised food? How come it's turned into my mom?"
