Chapter 182 Where is the Green Light?
Upon hearing this, both Zhong Chengfa and Li Hongjuan were stunned.
"Where's Mom?" Zhong Chengfa thought for a moment, then shook his head repeatedly. "Hongqing doesn't know where Mom lives."
"Don't even mention Hongqing, I didn't know him either!"
Zhong Chengyi thought about it and agreed.
However, to her surprise, Li Hongjuan's eyes darted away: "Hongqing... Hongqing might know..."
Zhong Chengfa was taken aback again: "How did Hongqing know?"
Li Hongjuan's expression was somewhat unnatural: "One day...one day I saw Director Song coming home from the brigade headquarters, so I...I secretly followed him with Hongqing, and that's how I found out where they lived..."
Upon hearing this, Zhong Chengfa immediately flew into a rage: "Are you fucking crazy?! What are you doing following Director Song?"
"If anyone sees this, they'll think you have ulterior motives towards Director Song!"
Li Hongjuan immediately turned red with embarrassment: "I... I just want to know where they live..."
"Unlike you, you don't even know where your own mother's house is!"
Zhong Chengfa was even more embarrassed and angry: "I..."
Zhong Chengyi interrupted him directly: "Alright, brother, stop arguing for now, you should hurry up and go find Hongqing!"
"Whether Hongqing is with Mom or not, we can just go ask her and we'll find out."
Zhong Chengfa thought it made sense, so with a mix of trepidation and excitement, he had Zhong Chengyi lead the way, and the three of them braved the heavy rain to go to Zhang Chunxue's house.
Zhang Chun's family was already having dinner.
She wasn't cruel enough to deny Zhong Hongqing food, but she didn't treat him well either, a stark contrast to how she treated Zhong Yuanyuan.
But I have to say, the food at Zhang Chunxue's house is really good!
Zhong Hongqing held the bowl and finished the bowl of rice in no time.
He clutched the empty bowl in both hands, looking at Zhang Chunxue hesitantly.
Zhou Mingli noticed that she had finished eating and asked gently, "Hongqing, are you done eating? Are you still hungry? Would you like another bowl?"
Zhong Hongqing looked timidly at Zhang Chunxue: "Can I...can I have another bowl?"
Zhang Chunxue did notice that this kid was indeed quite clever.
He knew all too well who was truly in charge of this household.
"Mingli, give him another bowl!" Zhang Chunxue said calmly. "I'm not that awful. Since we've already invited him to eat, we shouldn't starve him."
Zhou Mingli immediately took Zhong Hongqing's bowl and filled it with rice for him.
Zhong Hongqing looked at Zhang Chunxue expectantly: "Grandma... can I... can I stay with you?"
He clutched his overly long clothes under his chin, his voice filled with apprehension: "I...I don't want to go back to Dad's house..."
Zhang Chunxue raised an eyebrow.
Oh ho, so you're sticking to me now?
She let out a soft snort: "Zhong Hongqing, this world isn't something you can just do as you please! Why do you think I should let you stay?"
Zhong Hongqing's eyes immediately filled with tears: "Grandma, I... I'm your own grandson! You used to love me the most!"
Zhang Chunxue didn't speak, she just stared at him intently.
But then, scenes from her past life flashed before her eyes.
Zhong Hongqing stood at the door of her room with his son, who was arm in arm with a young and beautiful woman. They looked at her, who was lying in bed, with disdain in their eyes.
"This smell is awful, it's disgusting! I'm not going in!"
"Honey, I'll take you to a bar later..."
"It's all because of that old hag, insisting on seeing my girlfriend... Honestly, what's so interesting about her!"
Zhong Hongqing not only didn't stop his son, but instead shrugged and said, "Hey, let her watch if she wants to! She doesn't have many days left to live anyway..."
"You only came to take a look, but I'm the unlucky one! I have to come and serve you all the time..."
"She said I was raised by her with painstaking care... and that she loved me the most... Who cares about being raised with painstaking care! Who cares about her love for me?"
"I was raised by my parents!"
That face full of disgust overlapped with the pitiful little face in front of Zhang Chunxue's eyes.
The three Zhong brothers are ingrates, and Zhong Hongqing is an even bigger ingrate.
A cold glint flashed in Zhang Chunxue's eyes: "You said it yourself, that was before! I will never let you stay here."
The expectant light in Zhong Hongqing's eyes dimmed instantly.
He glanced at Zhong Yuanyuan sitting in the baby chair, and his heart was instantly filled with jealousy.
Why is Zhong Yuanyuan so loved by her grandmother?
If it weren't for Zhong Yuanyuan, would Grandma only be able to dote on him?
Zhou Mingli served the rice and handed it to Zhong Hongqing: "Eat up, Hongqing."
Zhong Hongqing responded softly, looking at Zhou Mingli, another thought flashing through his mind.
My aunt is so kind, I wish I could be her son...
If it weren't for Zhong Yuanyuan, could I be my second aunt's son?
Just as Zhong Hongqing was still thinking, there was a sudden, loud knocking on the door.
Although the sound was not very clear in the heavy rain, the people in the kitchen still heard it.
"Mom! Mom! Open the door! It's Chengfa!" Zhong Chengfa's voice was full of anxiety. "Has Hongqing come here yet?"
Song Xingzhi frowned: "I'll go open the door."
He walked out of the kitchen, holding an umbrella, to the gate of the yard. As soon as he opened the gate, three people rushed in.
Li Hongjuan rushed to the front, and then reached out to grab Song Xingzhi's hand: "Director Song, has Hongqing arrived?"
Song Xingzhi quickly shrank back, frowning, "Just talk, don't get physical!"
Li Hongjuan's expression froze instantly.
Zhong Chengfa glared at her with a dark expression, then pushed her away before looking at Song Xingzhi.
"Director Song... Dad! My son, is my son home?"
Has he arrived?
Song Xingzhi glanced at him before speaking calmly, "Yes."
That one word instantly put Zhong Chengfa's heart, which had been hanging in suspense, back down to where it was.
He felt his body go limp, and if Zhong Chengyi hadn't caught him, he would have fallen to the ground.
Song Xingzhi walked back with an umbrella: "He's eating, you guys wait a bit!"
Zhong Chengfa nodded repeatedly: "Okay, okay! We'll wait!"
He didn't forget to turn to Zhong Chengyi and boast, "My son is so smart! He remembered the route after only walking it once!"
But then he remembered that Li Hongjuan had led him to follow Song Xingzhi, and that Li Hongjuan had just held Song Xingzhi's hand in front of him...
Zhong Chengfa felt a slight chill on his forehead, as if he was missing a green hat.
Song Xingzhi walked under the eaves, closed his umbrella, and stepped into the kitchen.
"Zhong Chengfa and Zhong Chengyi are here; they're looking for their child!"
