Chapter Ninety-Three: Not Second Aunt, But Eldest Aunt
"Wait a minute!" Zhang Chunxue called out to him.
Zhong Chengfa was secretly delighted.
His mother still thinks about him.
He turned around impatiently, about to say something, when Zhang Chunxue dropped another sentence.
“Take your son away.”
Zhong Cheng was stunned for a moment, then looked at Zhang Chunxue in disbelief: "Mom! This is your own grandson!"
"So what?" Zhang Chunxue's tone remained calm. "The food rations have already been distributed, and you and your son were assigned together. Shouldn't you know that?"
Zhong Chengfa looked very aggrieved: "I know, but I didn't expect that you wouldn't even give your grandson a bite to eat, Mom!"
Zhang Chunxue scoffed: "They've already separated their households, yet they're still eating together. What difference does it make whether the household is separated or not?"
She raised her head and looked directly into Zhong Chengfa's eyes: "When you agreed to separate the family, shouldn't you have been prepared for this?"
Zhong Chengfa was somewhat dazed. He felt like he was caught in a dilemma: his wife hadn't come back, and his mother didn't want him anymore.
In the end, he could only walk over and take Zhong Hongqing's hand, saying, "Let's go! Let's go back to our room!"
Unexpectedly, Zhong Hongqing refused to leave and just looked at him pitifully.
"Dad, I'm hungry."
Zhong Chengfa: "..."
Oh, it is indeed time to finish eating now. An adult can get hungry, but a child can't stand it.
Zhong Chengfa scratched his head in annoyance: "I'll cook for you right now!"
Zhang Chunxue and the others had already started eating, and the aroma of the food wafted straight into Zhong Chengfa and Zhong Hongqing's noses.
However, Zhong Chengfa was still somewhat unconvinced when he saw Zhou Mingli sitting at the dinner table: "Mom, since you said you've separated the family, why can the second son's wife go with you?"
Zhang Chunxue said slowly, "Mingli is no longer the second son's wife; they're divorced..."
"It was you three brothers who separated from me, what does it have to do with Mingli?"
"She's my goddaughter now, so what's so strange about us eating together?"
Zhong Chengfa was dumbfounded: "Does Mom think that I, her own son, am not as good as a goddaughter?"
Zhang Chunxue tilted her head: "Indeed, it can't compare."
Zhong Chengfa was dumbfounded.
He glanced at Song Xingzhi, who hadn't said a word, then his eyes lit up again: "Secretary Song is here too. If you have guests, you need a man to entertain them! I can even have a couple of drinks with Secretary Song!"
Zhang Chunxue smiled sarcastically: "I will take care of my own guests."
Song Xingzhi also spoke up at the opportune moment: "I don't want to drink today either."
Zhong Chengfa was completely speechless and could only dejectedly go to cook for Zhong Hongqing.
Zhong Chengfa, who had never cooked before, produced something that was, unsurprisingly, utterly unappetizing.
Zhong Hongqing took a bite and burst into tears, feeling wronged.
"Dad! I don't want to eat..."
Zhong Chengfa himself felt a little nauseous, but since he had already done it, he couldn't just not eat it!
He sternly retorted, "Stop fooling around! Eat up!"
Tears streamed down Zhong Hongqing's face. "I don't want to eat... Dad's cooking... I want to eat Grandma's cooking..."
Zhong Cheng's face darkened.
He didn't want to eat the food he cooked; he wanted to eat his mother's cooking too!
He glanced at Zhang Chunxue and the others, but they all remained calm and ignored them completely.
Zhong Chengfa's face darkened further, and he deliberately raised his voice: "No matter how much you cry and scream, your grandma won't give you any food! Don't even think about it!"
"Hurry up and eat!"
Zhang Chunxue pretended not to hear.
After dinner, Zhong Xiaoxiao cleaned up the kitchen and washed the dishes, while Zhang Chunxue took out the watermelon, cut it up, and shared it with everyone.
Zhong Hongqing saw the bright red watermelon and kept swallowing hard.
I couldn't eat any food to begin with, and now I can't eat any more.
Zhong Chengfa was also furious. He quickly finished the food in his mouth, stuffed a few more pieces into Zhong Hongqing's mouth, and then started cleaning up.
Song Xingzhi ate two slices of watermelon, chatted with them for a while, and then, seeing that it was getting late, prepared to say goodbye.
Zhang Chunxue immediately got up to see him off.
Seeing that Zhang Chunxue had left the kitchen, Zhou Mingli went back to the room to breastfeed Zhong Yuanyuan. Zhong Xiaoxiao immediately grabbed a piece of watermelon and dashed out.
She walked to the door of Zhong Chengfa's house: "Hongqing!"
A moment later, Zhong Hongqing's wrinkled little face appeared at the door.
Zhong Xiaoxiao handed him the watermelon and whispered, "Eat it quickly! Don't let your dad see!"
Zhong Hongqing's eyes lit up when he saw the bright red watermelon, and he took it and devoured it clean.
After he finished eating, Zhong Xiaoxiao immediately took the watermelon rind away as well.
Back in the kitchen, she mixed the watermelon rind with the other watermelon rinds.
When Zhou Mingli returned after feeding the baby, she saw the watermelon rind on the table and her eyes flickered.
"Xiaoxiao, take all these watermelon rinds to the backyard to feed the chickens!"
"Okay!" Zhou Xiaoxiao obediently went.
Zhou Mingli quickly grabbed a slice of watermelon and went to Zhong Chengfa's house.
"Hongqing?"
Zhong Hongqing popped his head out again.
Zhou Mingli beckoned him over and quickly handed him the watermelon: "Eat up!"
Zhong Hongqing was overjoyed by this unexpected surprise, and his eyes welled up with tears: "Second Aunt, you're so kind..."
"I really want to be your son!"
Zhou Mingli patted his head: "From now on, you can't call me Second Aunt, you have to call me Big Aunt."
Zhong Hongqing was confused but obediently changed his address: "Okay, Auntie, thank you, Auntie!"
Hearing Zhong Xiaoxiao's voice as she returned, Zhou Mingli quickly instructed Zhong Hongqing, "Go back to your room to eat! After you're done, secretly throw the watermelon rinds to feed the chickens, understand?"
Zhong Hongqing nodded vigorously.
Zhou Mingli then hurriedly returned to the kitchen.
Zhong Hongqing quickly returned to his room.
Zhong Chengfa lay on the bed, seething with anger, when he saw Zhong Hongqing holding a watermelon. His eyes lit up and he immediately snatched the watermelon from Zhong Hongqing's hand and took a couple of bites himself.
"Who gave you this? This watermelon is so sweet!"
Seeing that Zhong Chengfa had taken a few bites and there wasn't much watermelon left, Zhong Hongqing burst into tears.
Zhong Hongqing quickly returned the watermelon to him, his face full of disgust: "Isn't it natural for a son to be filial to his father? What's there to cry about?"
Looking at the little bit of melon pulp left stuck to the rind in his hand, Zhong Hongqing felt even more aggrieved and answered with sobs, "Second Aunt... no, it was given to me by my eldest aunt."
Zhong Chengfa paused for a moment to realize who his aunt was.
Realizing it was Zhou Mingli, he immediately pursed his lips and remained silent, feeling somewhat uneasy.
Although Zhou Mingli only gave birth to a daughter, her temperament and personality are much better than Li Hongjuan's, and she now has a job.
It's a pity that the second son, that idiot, insisted on divorcing her.
