Chapter 112: Stealing

"All the cloth coupons were given by your sister. Why don't you make them for her but for you?" Song's mother raised her eyebrows.

Wang Shuyi was speechless and said slowly: "There is no need to do so much. It would be enough to have a new set of clothes for the New Year. I haven't worn new clothes for two years."

While speaking, she also looked at Wang Shuning.

Wang Shuning lowered his head, took the sketchbook from the side, opened it and pretended not to see it. This matter should be handled by our mother.

"Xiao Ning has to leave after the Lantern Festival. I made her two sets of spring and summer clothes to take with her. Transportation on the island is not convenient, and she can't go to the city to buy clothes often. Besides, the clothes she buys are not as sturdy as those made at home."

Wang Shuyi rolled his eyes and sat down beside Wang Shuning's legs. "Little sister, how is the salary as a teacher in Jinshan Island? You gave mom so many cloth coupons, so the salary should be quite high."

"It's OK, I can barely support myself."

The salary is indeed not low, but it is not for you.

Wang Shuyi frowned, "It's not easy to support yourself. I heard that typhoons often hit the island, and the weather is particularly bad. Will you get a subsidy if you go to support it?"

Wang Shuning nodded perfunctorily, "A little bit."

I have money, but I don't want to be taken advantage of.

"Come to my house during the Chinese New Year. Tuantuan and Yuanyuan always mention aunt to me. Remember to go see them."

Wang Shuning looked up at Wang Shuyi. "When I was at home before, Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan only came over once or twice a year. They didn't pay much attention to me. They probably didn't miss me that much."

Zhang Xiuzhen walked out of the room after putting the cloth away and said with a smile: "I don't miss my grandparents, so how could I miss my aunt?"

Wang Shuyi glared at her, "Why don't you miss your parents? If I hadn't stopped them today, they would have come here."

Zhang Xiuzhen curled her lips and said it was better for her to come here and have a free meal.

But she didn't dare to say much. After all, she didn't have any children yet, and the twins born to her eldest sister-in-law could be considered grandchildren.

Song's mother was so annoyed by what she heard that she couldn't even continue making the clothes and almost cut them crookedly.

"Why don't you go back after dinner? Aren't you afraid that your mother-in-law will scare you?"

Wang Shuyi glanced out the window. It was still early, but she had children and housework to do at home. If she didn't go back for a long time, her mother-in-law would definitely give her a cold shoulder. But if she didn't bring anything back, she would definitely be criticized.

His eyes fell on the books in the corner, and he was moved, with a smile on his face, "Little sister, are these books yours?"

Wang Shuning nodded, "I just bought it from the used bookstall this morning, and I haven't even read it yet."

"You won't be able to finish reading it in a short time anyway, so I'll take two copies back for the two kids to read."

Wang Shuning frowned slightly and said in confusion: "Sister, Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan seem to be not in elementary school yet. They probably can't understand these books."

Wang Shuyi reached out and took the two thickest books. "They can't read, so I can read to them. In two years they will be able to go to elementary school. This will serve as an enlightenment for them, and their academic performance will improve in the future."

After receiving the book, Wang Shuyi stood up and greeted Song's mother, "Mom, I'll go back first. I'll bring the kids back to see you another day."

Then he walked to the door and stuck his head into the inner room and shouted, "Dad, brother, I'm leaving."

After everyone left, Song's mother looked at Wang Shuning and said, "I guess you won't get that book back."

Zhang Xiuzhen nodded in agreement and said, "Yes, I won't return it unless you come to ask for it in person."

Wang Shuning blinked. "The book has no other use after I finish reading it. It doesn't matter if I don't return it. At worst, I can buy two more copies at the used bookstall."

The two books that were taken away were thick, but old.

I don’t know whether Wang Shuyi thought the comic book was too thin or he had some sense of propriety, so he didn’t move the new book on the top.

Song's mother warned Wang Shuning: "Don't go to your sister's house. Her mother-in-law is not easy to get along with."

The eldest daughter didn't really want the younger daughter to go to her house to look after the children. She was clearly thinking that the younger daughter wouldn't come empty-handed and she just wanted to take advantage of her.

Wang Shuning: “Originally I had no intention of going.”

My parents and elder brother are still alive, so there is no need for me, a younger sister, to visit my sister's in-laws' home.

I was eating melon seeds and reading at the same time, and soon my mouth became very dry. "Mom, do you have any sugar at home? I want to make some fruit tea to moisten my throat."

Song's mother put down the cloth in her hand and said, "You are becoming more and more picky. You even put sugar in the water you drink."

Even though she was harsh in her words, she still got off the bed to get some sugar for Wang Shuning.

Wang Shuning put down the book, put on his cotton shoes, and went to the kitchen to get some dried fruits.

Pineapple is both sweet and sour. There is no special tea kettle at home, so Wang Shuning can only put the dried pineapple in a cup, add sugar and fill it with boiling water.

The 100-degree boiling water soon brings out the sweet and sour flavor of the dried pineapple. Take a sip and it tastes sweet and sour.

Zhang Xiuzhen reached out to take the dried mango and eat it. Although it was not a fresh fruit, the dried ones were not cheap.

My sister-in-law went to Jinshan Island to be a teacher, so at least there will be no shortage of dried fruits and seafood at home.

Song's mother and Zhang Xiuzhen sat there for the entire afternoon, busy with their scissors and needles, wishing they could make the clothes today.

When Wang Shuning got tired of reading, she would stare at the two of them in a daze. The stitches were so dense that she could thread the needle without looking at the back, and she wouldn't prick her fingers. She was an experienced master. If she had a sewing machine at home, she would definitely do it faster and save trouble.

I have the ticket for the sewing machine, but I can't buy it. I've only been on the island for four months. Even if I say the salary is high, I certainly can't afford a sewing machine.

"If you find it interesting, just follow me and learn. Otherwise, just throw it away if it has a hole. I don't have so many clothes for you to throw away." Seeing Wang Shuning staring at her hands, Song's mother couldn't help but give a hint.

If you didn’t learn it before, maybe you want to learn it now.

As children grow up, their ideas may change.

Wang Shuning waved his hands and smiled, "Forget about making clothes. I can barely sew a quilt cover and it will be a little too long and a little too short. My hands are not born to be tailors."

Zhang Xiuzhen joked, "She is not a tailor, but a natural teacher."

Wang Shuning opened his hands. He was not holding chalk specifically. There were so many things in the space waiting for him to pick. To be honest, he was more like the owner of a vegetable and orchard.

Thinking of this, it’s time to find a way to get rid of all the vegetables and fruits in the space.

Many people in the surrounding compounds know me, so if I want to sell something, I have to go far away.

On the third day after returning, it finally stopped snowing outside, but the roads were frozen. Early in the morning, Wang Shuning's father slipped in the yard.

There was a row of icicles hanging on the eaves. After breakfast, Wang Jianjun used a bamboo pole to knock them all down for fear that they would fall and hit someone.

All the snow on the roof was pushed down to prevent it from collapsing or suddenly falling on people.

Out of boredom, Wang Shuning put on gloves and built a snowman half a person's height in the yard, using a broom as hands and a bucket as a hat.

It really looks like the vivid snowman in the textbook, except that it can run and jump.

When the snow was being piled, Wang Jianguo stood at the door and said, "If you are afraid of the cold and still play in the snow, be careful of frostbite."
