Chapter 116: The Liao Family

After dinner, the family of five took their small stools and went to the big square to watch a movie.

Maybe it was because Aunt Li and others from the street office had done a good job in lobbying, and even though the movie had just been shown, quite a few people still came to the square.

The Liao family members, who were standing in a far corner with stools in their hands, stared at the square intently, fearing that they would not be able to see anyone because it was too dark.

He Cimian's eyes lit up. "Here she is. The one wearing light yellow clothes and the most eye-catching one is Wang Shuning."

Against the backdrop of gray, black and red clothes, Wang Shuning's light yellow cotton coat becomes particularly eye-catching.

Liao's mother rubbed her eyes and said, "Yes, yes, let's sit over there quickly, or someone else will take the seat next to us."

Liao's mother took a step forward, and the others followed closely behind.

The Wang family member who had just put down the bench and sat down turned around and found someone next to him.

It was too dark, and the lights at the edge of the square couldn't illuminate the center, so Wang Shuning couldn't see the person's face clearly.

There were still more than ten minutes before six o'clock. Liao Tingjue reached out and poked Liao's mother, then turned his head to signal her to hurry up.

Mother Liao took a deep breath, and with a smile on her face, she suddenly put her hand on Wang Shuning's arm, "Xiaoning, what a coincidence that you also came to watch the movie, are these your parents?"

Wang Shuning was stunned when his hand was suddenly touched and his name was called. He stretched his head and squinted, "Aunt Liao, why are you here?"

Nanyuan is quite far from my home, so even if I want to watch a movie, I wouldn’t go to such a far place.

When Song's mother saw someone talking to her little daughter and even mentioned herself, she looked to the right involuntarily, "Xiao Ning, who are they?"

Liao's mother immediately came over and said, "I am Liao Tingming's mother. My son is a soldier in the Jinshan Island Army. He and Xiaoning are good friends. Xiaoning came to our house yesterday to help him deliver a watch."

Mother Song opened her eyes wide and looked at her little daughter.

He began to question: “Didn’t you say she was a woman, your colleague, and also a teacher at school?”

Wang Shuning dodged his gaze and lowered his eyes to defend himself: "I did say she was a woman, but I didn't say she was a teacher at the school."

Song's mother frowned and recalled that when she was leaving the house, she asked her little daughter whether it was a boy or a girl, and her little daughter answered that it was a female friend.

I naturally thought you were a school teacher, but when I asked about your salary later, you didn't deny it!

He Cimian saw that something was not right and quickly interrupted: "Jinshan Island is so far away, it's just a coincidence that these two fellow villagers can meet on the island."

Liao's mother moved the bench next to Song's mother. "What a coincidence! If we count upwards, maybe our two families are actually one family."

Wang Shuning was dumbfounded. Were they one family during the ape-man era?

The corners of Liao's father, Liao Tingjue and He Cimian's mouth twitched. What did they mean? One was surnamed Wang and the other was surnamed Liao. How many years ago did they become a family?

He Cimian clenched his back teeth, this relationship was really a bit forced.

The Wang family members sitting aside looked at the Liao family.

The younger daughter doesn’t seem to be very familiar with them?

My little sister seems to be stunned?

Song's mother shifted her attention from her younger daughter to Liao's mother and figured it out.

The man who asked her to bring the watch back was a local from Beijing.

And the younger daughter didn't want to know.

Mother Song looked at Mother Liao and said with a smile, "It's quite a coincidence. She works alone on Jinshan Island. I heard that the conditions there are a bit bad. I was very worried when I first went there. I was relieved when I saw that she looked good after the New Year."

Liao's mother sighed, "My son only came back in the first half of the year. If there were no holidays, maybe the two of them could have come back together by train."

Two middle-aged women in their forties couldn't stop chatting until the movie started, and they just lowered their voices and talked quietly in the background.

Wang Shuning sat aside like an ostrich. The two mothers talked about everything from when their children wore open-crotch pants to when they grew up and left home, and finally to finding a partner and getting married.

Looking at the other side, my sister-in-law had already started talking about the movie that was being shown with Liao Tingming's sister-in-law.

Wang Shuning had never seen the movie "Carrying a Gun", and she couldn't bear to watch it anymore.

More than an hour later, the movie ended and Song's mother and Liao's mother had already made an appointment to meet next time.

Before leaving, Liao's mother praised Wang Shuning, "This dress is so beautiful."

The other three members of the Liao family nodded in agreement, "It looks best on Xiao Ning."

Wang Shuning nodded stiffly and watched the person leave.

As soon as she got home, Song's mother sat down on the kang and snorted heavily at Wang Shuning.

"You dared to lie to me that you are a woman. You are obviously a soldier, and a company commander at that."

Wang Shuning stood aside with his hands down, "I'm afraid you'll ask me all kinds of questions."

"I'm your mother, what's wrong?"

"What did I tell you at the beginning? It would be best to find a soldier on Jinshan Island whose hometown is in Jing City. When he comes back during the holidays, the two families can look after him together. You still said there is no one. Isn't this ready-made?"

"You are a 24-year-old company commander. You come from a well-off family. I think the four of you are good. Are you afraid that I will break you up, or are you just not interested in him at all?"

Wang Shuning took a breath. If he had known this would happen, he should not have agreed to give him the watch, and he should not have asked Liao Tingming to help buy the sleeper ticket. He could have asked the crew to queue for a few more days and maybe he could have bought it.

"I don't fancy him."

Zhang Xiuzhen muttered, "It's hard to find a man with such good conditions, you can try to date him."

Song's mother raised her eyes, "Yes, give it a try. I see his family is so welcoming. They came so far to watch a movie at night. They are probably interested in you. Go back and spend two days with him. If it's not suitable, break up."

Wang Shuning suppressed his anger and said, "I really don't have any interest in him. Maybe Nanyuan doesn't show movies, and they heard that we do, so they came to watch it. It's just a coincidence."

Wang Jianjun opened his mouth, "Little sister, do you believe it yourself?"

Wang Jianguo nodded. "The Liao family didn't watch the movie from the beginning to the end. They came here 100% specifically to target us."

Wang Shuning sighed, covered his head with his hands and squinted his eyes, yawning, "I'm so sleepy, I'll quickly wash up and go to bed, Dad, please help me warm up the kang, okay."

Wang Shuning's father, Wang Jianguo, stood up and said, "You should talk to your mother for a few more words. You will be twenty years old after the Chinese New Year, and you are not young anymore."

"I'm twenty years old in real age, but only nineteen in lunar age. My birthday isn't even here yet." This is considered misrepresenting one's age and making the person sound old.

Song's mother was angry. "When your sister-in-law was 20 years old, she married into our family. When your sister was 20 years old, Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan were already 2 years old."

Wang Shuning shrank his neck. Being urged to get married was really scary. It looked like a trial between three judges.

After Wang Jianguo came out of Wang Shuning's room, Wang Shuning immediately ran to the kitchen to brush his teeth and wash his face, then went to bed to avoid the incident.

Seeing that Song's mother's face was red with anger, Zhang Xiuzhen comforted her, "Mom, my little sister is just too playful and hasn't thought about settling down yet."

"When she wants to settle down, she won't choose others, but others will choose her!" Song's mother looked at the uncut cloth placed beside the kang and no longer had the heart to make clothes.

It must be because of the sins he committed in his previous life that neither of his two daughters has ever been at peace.
