Chapter 2 Go find Aunt Li yourself

In the evening, Wang Shuning's sister-in-law Zhang Xiuzhen came home from get off work at the factory. She came to the kitchen and saw that only her mother-in-law was busy in it. She hurriedly helped to bring the prepared dishes to the dining table.

Zhang Xiuzhen asked curiously, "Mom, where is Xiaoning?" Usually every day when she came home from get off work, her sister-in-law would help her mother-in-law cook.

Song Guiying put the cooked radish into a large soup bowl with such force that the soup almost splashed out. "Why call her? She just wants to cause trouble all day long. It's only been a few days since graduation, and she has already spent dozens of dollars just on medicine."

Zhang Xiuzhen was silent immediately. Her mother-in-law could scold her sister-in-law without restraint, but if she dared to say anything bad about her sister-in-law, her mother-in-law would immediately look at her.

When the elder sister-in-law was discovered to have secretly married on her own initiative in order to avoid going to the countryside, Song's mother kept saying that she would publish an advertisement in the newspaper to sever ties with her.

But what happened later? They still kept on going, and they just kept on cursing for a month.

After Wang Jianguo and Wang Jianjun came back, they sat directly at the dining table and prepared to eat.

When everyone sat down, Wang Shuning had not arrived yet.

Wang Jianguo stared at the steaming spareribs, turned his head and said to his son Wang Jianjun, "Go and ask your little sister to come over for dinner."

Zhang Xiuzhen saw that her mother-in-law didn't say anything, and it was true. No matter how harshly her own daughter scolded her, she was really hurt in her heart.

Forget it, forget it. Anyway, my sister-in-law will go to the countryside in a few days. I don’t know how her small arms and legs will be wasted.

Wang Jianjun stood at the door of Wang Shuning's room and knocked on the door, "Little sister, it's time for dinner."

In the space, Wang Shuning, who was holding a red apple and chewing it, was standing in the wooden house thinking about various equipment. Hearing the sound, he quickly finished eating the apple in his hand and swallowed it, then hurriedly left the space and opened the door.

Wang Jianjun looked inside with some confusion, "Little sister, why did you lock the door in broad daylight?"

Wang Shuning made up an excuse, "I was just trying on clothes."

Since Wang Shuning’s stomach was a little bloated due to eating too many fruits in the space, he ate a little slowly, one grain at a time, like a chicken pecking at rice.

Wang Jianguo and Song Guiying were the first to notice that something was wrong with their youngest daughter.

It was not until Wang Shuning put the dishes in the kitchen and returned to the room that Wang Jianguo asked his wife, "What happened to Xiaoning?"

Song Guiying curled her lips, "After she came back from buying soy sauce at noon today, she suddenly said she didn't want to go to City B, and asked me to ask the street office to find her a place to work in the countryside. She made a fuss for the whole afternoon but I didn't agree."

Wang Jianguo frowned, "Didn't she just want to go to City B? You even spent two kilograms of brown sugar for this."

"That's right. This child has a different idea every day and is now on a hunger strike. I must have sinned in my previous life to have given birth to these two daughters."

Thinking back to what happened to her eldest daughter, she was so scared that she didn't sleep well for a month or two.

Wang Jianjun held his bowl and asked hesitantly, "Little sister, don't you want to go to the countryside?"

The other three people sitting around the table fell silent, and daughter-in-law Zhang Xiuzhen didn't even dare to chew her rice.

Song Guiying said dejectedly: "There's nothing we can do about it. It's all flesh that has fallen off my body. I feel bad for her. She's so skinny and short. How can she endure the hardship of working in the fields?"

As she was talking, Song Guiying lost her appetite.

Zhang Xiuzhen really wanted to slap her husband in the face, wondering if he would read her expression when speaking. If her younger sister didn't go to the countryside, the whole family would really be left to starve.

At night, Wang Shuning lay in bed, tossing and turning but couldn't fall asleep.

She opened the window and looked at the moon hanging in the sky. She couldn't give up. She had to stay away from the hero and the heroine. She didn't want to be cannon fodder and die inexplicably.

As long as I stay away from them and have my own space, I won’t starve to death even in the countryside. At least I won’t have to worry about food and drink.

The next day, everyone in the family except Wang Shuning went to work in the factory.

After Song's mother got up, she saw that her little daughter's room door was still closed. She walked to the door and listened closely, and she could hear some noise.

It's obvious that he has woken up, but is still making a fuss.

Not wanting to spoil her, she slammed the door with her palm, "Hurry up and make breakfast. The family is waiting for you to finish eating and go to work. How dare you stay in bed and not get up when you're just sitting around eating for free? Don't even bother?"

Wang Shuning, who was meditating under the quilt, was startled by Song's mother's loud voice. Hearing the continuous knocking on the door, he quickly got out of the quilt and shouted, "I know, I'll get up right away."

By the time she got dressed and came to the kitchen, the water in the pot was already boiling.

"Mom, why are we eating glutinous rice porridge again? We've been eating it for a month straight." He has been eating the same porridge since the day he came here. He puts a lot of water in it and I'm hungry before lunch.

Song's mother poked her head out from behind the stove with a pair of fire tongs in her hand. "It's good to have something to eat. Hurry up and knead the dough and fry the dough sticks."

Wang Shuning washed her hands and prepared to knead the dough. During the first three days after she came to the book, she didn't know how to fry dough sticks and was splashed with hot oil several times. The traces of blisters on her hands have not disappeared yet.

"Mom, I had a nightmare last night. I dreamed that not long after I went to City B, I was pushed into the river and drowned. Look at my dark circles. I was so scared that I couldn't sleep all night." Wang Shuning held the dough in his hand and approached Song's mother to let her see his dark circles.

Song's mother glared at him, "What do you mean by dying or not? It's so unlucky. I think you are just looking for a fight and you woke up from hunger."

The fried dough sticks were put into the oil pan and soon expanded.

Oil is expensive nowadays, and every household in Beijing often eats fried dough sticks for breakfast, so the oil used to fry the dough sticks is usually reused.

After the whole family had gone out and only Wang Shuning was left, she immediately returned to her room and got into the space, carrying a basket of red apples and went out. However, she ran into her elder sister Wang Shuyi who was returning to her parents' home just as she left the house. She then stopped her and said, "Little sister, where are you going so early in the morning? Are your parents home?"

Wang Shuning had nothing to say to her elder sister, who was so smart that she didn't care about anything. She hurriedly found a classmate to marry before graduating from high school in order to avoid going to the countryside.

But my brother-in-law's family is not well off, even worse than the Wang family.

In addition, Wang Shuyi gave birth to twins, which made life even more difficult, so she went back to her parents' home every few days to beg for money.

Wang Shuning hid the basket of fruit behind her and hurriedly shook them off. "Mom and Dad, my brother and sister-in-law went to work at the factory half an hour ago. I have something urgent to go out for. Sister, please come back later."

Wang Shuyi looked at Wang Shuning's back as he hurried away. The basket in his hand seemed to be filled with apples.

Is there any money left at home to buy fruit? Where is she going with all that stuff?

Wang Shuyi hesitated for a moment, then hurriedly followed.

When she caught up, she saw her younger sister holding the hand of Aunt Li from the Street Office. The two of them were standing in a corner, talking about something.

Wang Shuning even tried his best to stuff the apples in the basket into Aunt Li's pocket.

What is this doing?
