Gu Changzheng spoke in a calm tone, with even a faint smile on his face as he looked at the three women who were speaking.
That smile didn't feel warm; it was like a cold laugh floating on the surface, making people feel even colder than not smiling at all.
The three women were astonished that Gu Changzheng, a man from the village, would dare to speak to them like that. Furthermore, what did it matter to him whether their husbands liked them or not?
One of them looked at Gu Changzheng suspiciously and asked, "What do you mean by that? What do you want to do by asking about our family?"
This person didn't understand Gu Changzheng's meaning at all.
To be honest, Lu Huaijiao also looked up at the man beside her with some confusion, not quite understanding what he wanted to express.
Gu Changzheng gently squeezed her hand, then looked up at the three people opposite him with a half-smile.
"How pitiful, auntie. At her age, she has never experienced being loved by her husband. Tsk tsk tsk, how pitiful."
His serious tone made the three men feel embarrassed.
Although they were reluctant to admit it, what Gu Changzheng said seemed to make some sense. Their husbands all disliked them to some extent, and even in bed, things seemed to be done as usual.
But this is a private matter, and they certainly wouldn't admit it to Gu Changzheng.
In public, they still need to maintain the appearance of a loving couple.
"What nonsense are you talking about? My wife and I have a deep revolutionary friendship, which is something that newlyweds like you can't possibly understand."
"Yeah, me too. How can you, a mere young punk, meddle in other people's family affairs?"
Because Gu Changzheng was a man, the women were more careful when they spoke.
There was no direct use of profanity.
Gu Changzheng chuckled coldly.
"Really? Your husbands love you? Don't you know that no matter what, your husbands will always stand by their wives' side, respect them, protect them, and cherish them?"
The three women were taken aback.
It seems like Gu Changzheng's words implied something else.
As expected, Gu Changzheng put on a cold smile, glanced at the three women with a chilling expression, and spoke slowly, word by word.
“Jiaojiao is my wife, and I will cherish her with my life. With me, she doesn’t need to make any changes, nor does she need to behave like you imagine, keeping a low profile.”
“With me, even if she wanted to pluck the moon from the sky, I would go with her to do it.”
Gu Changzheng spoke softly, but every word he uttered was resounding and thought-provoking.
None of the three women expected that this country bumpkin would defend Lu Huaijiao, an orphan with no manners, in such a way.
They looked at each other, their expressions not very pleasant.
But considering their age and their city background, one of them replied.
"That sounds nice, but everyone knows you're after the house that Old Mrs. Qiao left her."
"Exactly. If she had nothing, would you still be interested in her? Don't fool yourself."
These women are quite shrewd; they even know how to say things that are self-deceptive.
However, as soon as they finished speaking, Lu Huaijiao, who had been silent all along, grabbed a stone from the ground and threw it at them.
The stone landed at the feet of the three people, startling them so much that they took several steps back and looked up to glare at Lu Huaijiao.
"Lu Huaijiao, have you gone mad?"
"You three are the crazy ones! You three are like mad dogs who bite anyone you see! Who do you think you are? Who gave you the right to talk about my husband?"
Lu Huaijiao glared at the three people in front of her and spoke loudly.
Three women: ...
Is Lu Huaijiao out of her mind? How can she talk to them like that? Does she have no regard for her reputation?
“Lu Huaijiao…”
"You, fat and smelly, all you do is gossip. No wonder your man doesn't like you."
"You're so sarcastic, mean, and nasty. Your man must keep his distance from you, right?"
"And you..."
Lu Huaijiao pointed at the three women opposite her, her little mouth chattering away as if it were coated with honey, greeting each of them in turn.
"You are old, smelly, sour, and stinky. You are jealous of my young, beautiful, and handsome husband. You are disrespectful and want to break us up. You shameless old things. I feel ashamed for your parents and children. Oh, and I feel sorry for you as husbands. How could I have married such good-for-nothing women who only know how to cause trouble?"
"No wonder they don't like you. If it were me, I'd probably wake up in the middle of the night and see all your sharp and mean faces. I wouldn't even know if I was with a human or a ghost!"
"People like you don't even deserve to be called human. You're like stinking rats in a sewer, only fit to stay in groups of three or five in the sewers, envying and being jealous of other people's happiness."
The three people opposite: ...
They have absolutely no ability to talk back!
No, those three women were capable of talking back, but they didn't get a chance to speak! Lu Huaijiao's mouth was like a machine gun, it just wouldn't shut up!
Damn it, how can there be a girl like Lu Huaijiao in this world who is even more eloquent than a woman or a busybody!
Is she really a young girl, or a woman?
The three women were so overwhelmed by Lu Huaijiao's relentless barrage of questions that they became dizzy and stumbled backward.
Zheng Shujuan, Aunt Pang, and her daughter walked over from a distance and happened to hear Lu Huaijiao's words. They saw that the three most notorious gossips on the street were rendered speechless by Lu Huaijiao alone.
