Chapter 22 Points Will Come Sooner or Later

Gu Changzheng picked up his things and took Lu Huaijiao's hand.

Once the car came to a stop, the two of them got out.

The car door closed, and the middle-aged woman spat through the window, "What the hell? I curse you and your boyfriend to break up in three days."

Hearing the woman's words, the ticket seller's eyelids twitched incessantly: "Ma'am, do you know who you just talked about?"

The woman snapped out of her daze and glared at the ticket seller: "What? What do they have to do with you? Are you related to them?"

The ticket seller didn't really want to deal with this unreasonable old lady, but remembering Gu Changzheng's reputation, she added, "Auntie, he's Gu Laosi from Dawan Village."

"I don't care if he's Gu Laosi or Gu Laosan. He's got that fierce look on his face..."

Before the old lady could finish speaking, someone else chimed in: "Hey, Sister-in-law Xu, calm down. Don't you know who Gu Laosi is? A few years ago, Dawan Village and Geda Village were fighting over farmland water, and Gu Laosi beat those thugs from Geda Village to the ground with a brick."

"By the way, I remember your nephew who works at the commune is from Geda Village, right? If you don't know who Gu Laosi is, you can go ask him."

"Yeah, yeah, this Gu Laosi is a real troublemaker. Everyone avoids him like the plague. Aren't you afraid of provoking him?"

The passengers on the bus were talking amongst themselves, and the older woman looked extremely uncomfortable.

………

Gu Changzheng pulled Lu Huaijiao toward the Gu family home. On the way, they encountered He Meizhu, who was returning home for dinner and preparing to go back to work in the fields. He Meizhu saw the large sack of food her fourth son was carrying on his shoulder, but she said nothing.

When his gaze fell on the dejected Lu Huaijiao, he couldn't help but speak.

"Fourth brother, what's wrong with Jiaojiao? Is she tired from going to the county town? Or did you not let her buy something? Did you bully her?" Both Gu Jianhua and He Meizhu unconditionally favored Lu Huaijiao.

Hearing He Meizhu's voice, Lu Huaijiao looked up and blinked. The tears she had been holding back all the way finally streamed down her face. Despite this, she bravely sniffed, wiped her tears with the back of her hand, and called out "Mom" in a thick, nasal voice.

"mom……"

"Hey, who's bullying our Jiaojiao?"

He Meizhu was heartbroken. She walked over in a few steps, rolling her eyes at her son as she took Lu Huaijiao's hand and said, "Jiaojiao, we won't cry, we won't cry. Fourth brother is disobedient, we won't talk to him."

Gu Changzheng, who was shot for no reason: ...

Seeing Lu Huaijiao cry hurt him more than anyone else, but what could he do? If it were anyone else, he could have beaten them up. But the one who upset Lu Huaijiao was his father-in-law.

Is he going to point his finger at his father-in-law and berate him for having affairs and having a child?

Gu Changzheng couldn't say anything, so faced with his mother's accusations, he could only silently admit it.

Lu Huaijiao wiped away her tears and shook her head: "It wasn't him, he didn't make me angry."

"Who is that? Is it that Li Zhiqing?" He Meizhu had heard about what happened that morning when she went to work. Knowing that Li Xiaoya had cheated her naive daughter-in-law out of so much money, He Meizhu was furious.

She personally went to the educated youth settlement and asked Li Xiaoya to repay the money.

Under her relentless pressure, Li Xiaoya could only tearfully promise to repay the money as soon as possible.

He Meizhu originally wanted to come back and talk to Lu Huaijiao to cheer her up. Who knew that before she could even say anything, Lu Huaijiao came back crying, so heartbroken and aggrieved.

She had even more complaints about Li Xiaoya.

"Mom, it's not what you think." Gu Changzheng, who was watching from the side, felt extremely distressed and could only speak with a stern face, telling He Meizhu to go to work quickly. "You go to work first, I'll take care of Jiaojiao here."

He Meizhu was definitely not very at ease with her unreliable youngest son, but considering that she wanted to improve the relationship between the young couple, she had no other choice.

Before leaving, she didn't forget to remind her, "You must comfort Jiaojiao properly. If you dare to bully her again, your father and I will not forgive you."

"mom……"

Gu Changzheng sometimes seriously doubts whether he or the little troublemaker is the real biological child of the Gu family.

He Meizhu ignored Gu Changzheng.

She patted Lu Huaijiao's hand: "Jiaojiao, if Lao Si bullies you, don't be afraid. When Mom and Dad come back, we'll beat him up together."

"..."

Gu Changzheng was speechless.

Lu Huaijiao nodded with tears in her eyes.

He Meizhu reluctantly left to go to work, and Gu Changzheng then took the girl, whose cheeks were still wet with tears, and led her into the courtyard towards their house.

During the day, the Gu family is empty; the adults are at work, the children are at school, and the house is eerily quiet.

Gu Changzheng pulled her back to the room, made her sit on the bed, and went to fetch water for her to wash her face.

"Don't cry. If you don't want to go back to that home anymore, then don't. You have your own home now." Gu Changzheng took a towel, wet it with warm water, wrung it out, and handed it to Lu Huaijiao.

Lu Huaijiao snorted and didn't answer.

Gu Changzheng ground his back teeth. Fine, he'd spoil the princess he married.

The tall man standing in front of the bed bent down and wiped her face with a towel.

His gentle movements were completely out of character for his burly, rough-looking appearance, yet they didn't seem out of place at all. It was as if he was born to be this gentle with her.

Just as Gu Changzheng was about to withdraw his hand, Lu Huaijiao grumbled something.

"My eyes hurt."

Gu Changzheng said helplessly, "You shed so many tears, how could your eyes not hurt?"

"He wasn't crying, he was angry."

Lu Huaijiao offered a righteous and righteous excuse.
