Chapter 261 Many Little Thoughts

Let's start with the eldest son's side.

The two sisters, Daya and Erya, are now almost ten years old, but due to long-term malnutrition, their hair is dry and yellow, and they are short and thin.

He looks almost like a five or six-year-old child.

They separated their family two and a half years ago. Back then, Da Ya and Er Ya were much prettier and had more flesh than they do now.

Of course, things weren't easy for them when they separated from the family, but it was still better than now! Unlike now, they're like leaves in the wind. The two sisters both caught a cold a while ago, and although several days have passed, they haven't fully recovered.

I cough at the slightest sound or movement.

But when they cough, Liu Chun will find it annoying.

They said the two girls only knew how to eat and couldn't help with anything.

As she said this, she completely ignored the two sisters who were working hard in front of the earthen stove.

Perhaps in her eyes, whatever her two daughters do is wrong. Right now, she only thinks about them not eating anything, preferably just drinking water all day, and giving the leftover food to her precious son so that he becomes fat and chubby, even fatter than Gu Jindan and Gu Baodan next door used to be.

This way, the villagers can see that Liu Chun is also capable of giving birth to a big, healthy son.

Having such a mother must have been tough on Daya and Erya.

The two sisters are currently cooking in the kitchen. They're barely tall enough to reach the stove, so they've placed a stool under their feet as they wash the pots and pans in preparation for cooking.

Liu Chun and Gu Changshan were whispering to each other in the courtyard.

Specifically, Gu Changshan was holding his chubby baby son and kissing him, while Liu Chun whispered in his ear.

“Changshan, I have no objection to the elderly living with Lao Si and his family, but what about his grandfather’s salary? It’s more than twenty yuan a month, we can’t let it all go to support Lao Si’s family!”

Previously, they were busy shirking responsibility, and no one wanted to support the two elderly people.

Now that they see the two elderly people living with Lu Huaijiao and the others, they've started eyeing Gu Jianhua's salary again.

He Meizhu used to be the women's director, but she was dismissed last year and is no longer receiving a salary.

Gu Jianhua was still the brigade leader.

You still receive a salary.

In Liu Chun's view, this salary should not be allowed to be enjoyed by Gu Changzheng and the others alone.

“Everyone knows that the fourth brother’s family is well-off. He married a woman from the city and doesn’t have to worry about money. But our family is different. We have three children.”

Liu Chun had been laying the groundwork, and Gu Changshan hadn't said a word, spending the whole time amusing his son.

I wonder how much of what she said actually came to her attention?

But Liu Chun remembered what her mother had said, so she tentatively spoke up again.

"Dad, the New Year is just around the corner. His grandfather lives with the fourth son and the others, so it doesn't cost them much money. Why don't you go and borrow some money from his grandfather so we can buy some things and let the kids have a good New Year?"

In short, they were after Gu Jianhua's salary.

Gu Changshan raised his head and glanced at Liu Chun.

“Dad is living with the fourth brother now, how can I possibly ask him for money?”

"It's not asking, it's borrowing. Go borrow a hundred yuan from Dad to celebrate the New Year. Surely he can't be without it, right?"

This idea was actually given to her by Liu Chun's mother.

Otherwise, she wouldn't have thought of it.

Gu Jianhua and He Meizhu have salaries, don't have to support children, and receive regular gifts from Lu Huaijiao. They certainly don't lack money or good things.

They are all their sons and daughters-in-law; there is absolutely no one who would allow Gu Changzheng, their only son, to enjoy the benefits of being an elder.

Liu Chun thought this way, but she never considered that Gu Jianhua and He Meizhu were now living with Gu Changzheng and the others, and that Gu Changzheng and the others were taking care of them in their old age.

She only saw the potential benefits that Gu Jianhua might bring to Gu Changzheng and his group, but she didn't see their filial piety towards their parents.

Such a person is extremely selfish.

But it's not surprising, after all, they're poor. When people are poor, they lose their ambition. When they're too poor, they become stingy and turn their attention to their parents.

Gu Changshan remained silent.

Liu Chun was about to say something when a cry of pain came from the kitchen. The couple looked up and saw Daya hurriedly getting up from the ground.

She slipped on the stool she was standing on and fell off, landing on the muddy ground.

She also knocked over the basin of water that was placed to the side, spilling all the water inside.

It was hot water that had just been ladled from the pot. Luckily, the basin fell to the ground first, and then the girl hit the ground. Otherwise, if she had fallen first and then been scalded by the water from the basin, she would have been burned.

Even so, Daya was still scalded by the hot water that the mud hadn't had time to absorb.

"elder sister."

Er Ya quickly helped Da Ya up.

Liu Chun's roar could already be heard outside the door.

"What's wrong with you, you brat? You can't even cook a proper meal, and you've made the kitchen all wet. Aren't you going to clean it up right now? Don't you want to eat tonight?"

Liu Chun is very fierce.

Before she had a son, she would secretly beat and scold her two daughters.

Now that I have a son, I feel much more confident. I can hit or scold my two daughters whenever I want without any restraint.

Gu Changshan was holding his son when he heard Liu Chun's voice. He frowned, glanced at the two sisters huddled in the kitchen, trembling, and pursed his lips without saying a word.

Liu Chun's arrogance grew even stronger.

"Aren't you going to get to work?"

He's such a grown man, yet he seems to have no eyes. He didn't see that his eldest daughter's tattered cotton-padded jacket was soaking wet, nor did he see that his youngest daughter was standing to the side shivering like a leaf.
