Chapter 392 School Explosion

Lu Zhengde has disappeared without a trace.

There are still quite a few workers at the construction site.

Lu Huaijiao glanced at Gu Changzheng suspiciously.

Gu Changzheng reassured her with his eyes not to worry. He went up to a bricklayer and asked where the middle-aged man who had just come in was.

"A middle-aged man? The one from just now?"

The bricklayer looked confused: "I was working the whole time and didn't really notice anyone coming in."

His position was such that his back was to the entrance. If he was bent over working the whole time and the person coming in didn't make a sound, it would be normal that he didn't notice.

Gu Changzheng nodded slightly. He glanced around, trying to figure out where Lu Zhengde would go based on the surroundings.

Lu Huaijiao was also watching.

Her gaze fell on a long corridor.

Gu Changzheng asked the bricklayer, "Where does that corridor lead?" The bricklayer replied, "It leads to the newly built auditorium. The school's expansion has received attention from higher-level leaders, who have specially approved the construction of an auditorium that can accommodate two thousand people at the same time."

The document also stated that once the auditorium is completed, city leaders and provincial leaders will personally come to cut the ribbon.

"It's over there."

Lu Huaijiao gripped Gu Changzheng's hand tightly, her tone full of certainty.

Gu Changzheng nodded, thanked the bricklayer, and followed him.

The two walked through the long, unfinished corridor and arrived at the entrance of the auditorium, which was also only half-built.

Just as they were about to go inside, a loud bang came from within.

Something exploded.

Gu Changzheng immediately hugged Lu Huaijiao and used his body to shield her as they hid behind the wall.

After a loud bang, a large crater was blasted into the side of the half-built auditorium.

The explosion kicked up smoke and dust, along with other debris, which flew up and the white smoke obscured people's eyes.

Lu Huaijiao's ears were ringing, with constant sounds inside.

She looked up somewhat blankly and saw Gu Changzheng urgently opening his mouth to say something to her. Judging from the shape of his lips, he was calling her.

"Wife...wife?"

Lu Huaijiao rubbed her ears and waited a while before she heard Gu Changzheng's voice.

Seeing his anxious expression, a feeling of relief washed over her, and Lu Huaijiao reached out and hugged Gu Changzheng tightly.

"Gu Changzheng, sob sob sob..."

She's really terrified now.

If Gu Changzheng hadn't come with her, if she had come alone and hadn't spoken to the bricklayers, would she have walked right into the auditorium and been blown to pieces by the explosion?

The thought that she might be blown to pieces and never see Gu Changzheng, Sanbao, and her parents again filled Lu Huaijiao with fear.

I was terrified.

The hand that was wrapped around Gu Changzheng's neck was still trembling slightly.

Gu Changzheng reached out and hugged her back. He was also trembling with fear, but fortunately, he was a man and was able to remain somewhat composed.

"It's okay, baby, it's okay, your husband is here."

"Um……"

Lu Huaijiao choked back tears, sniffed, wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes with the back of her hand, and stepped out of his embrace.

"Shall we go take a look? This explosion is definitely unusual."

She had just seen Lu Zhengde coming this way when the explosion occurred, which makes one wonder.

Is Lu Zhengde involved in this explosion?

Or, to put it another way, did Lu Zhengde know the person who bombed the auditorium?

It had only been less than half a month since the incident of several reservoirs in the city being bombed during the Chinese New Year.

The explosion at the reservoir caused damage to more than ten villages, resulting in the loss of 80 lives.

The police are investigating the situation at the reservoir, saying they cannot rule out the possibility that enemy agents from across the sea have infiltrated their city to sabotage civilian facilities.

Their goal was to disrupt the city, create chaos, and give them an opportunity to exploit the situation...

Although the investigation above has not yet yielded any results, Lu Huaijiao had never doubted Lu Zhengde before today.

However, after personally witnessing the explosion of the unfinished auditorium, Lu Huaijiao began to suspect Lu Zhengde.

Once suspicion arises about someone, the seed of doubt will take root and sprout in one's heart, and before long, that sapling will grow into a towering tree.

After suspecting Lu Zhengde, Lu Huaijiao seemed to have found an explanation for all the unsolved mysteries surrounding everything before.

"No wonder, no wonder I said how could he have gotten out of the farm so easily? He's a traitor, he must be a traitor."

Lu Huaijiao grabbed Gu Changzheng's arm, her voice trembling with excitement.

The "he" she was referring to was Lu Zhengde.

Gu Changzheng hadn't thought of this, but when Lu Huaijiao said it, he finally connected Lu Zhengde with the villainous forces, and found that it didn't seem out of place at all.

He took a deep breath.

They held back Lu Huaijiao, who wanted to go inside and explore.

"Wife, listen to me..."

If Lu Zhengde is just an ordinary scumbag and hypocrite, then he agrees that Lu Huaijiao should go to him.

But now that we know Lu Zhengde may be connected with the villainous forces, or even be one of them, Gu Changzheng can no longer let Lu Huaijiao take the risk.

Matters involving traitors are not trivial matters; they are matters of life and death.
