Chapter 208 Is this child too dependent on him?

After arriving in J City with his people and goods, Luo Qingming went to meet with the head of the J City black market.

J City's market is no smaller than Beijing's. Song Shaohua had long had the idea and plan to expand here, but when he actually took action, he found that J City had already been occupied.

He's a troublemaker who's not to be trifled with.

At first, Luo Qingming did not know that the boss of the black market was Huo Jing. He would send letters to Peach Blossom Village every once in a while and always received a reply. He always thought that Huo Jing was still in Peach Blossom Village.

He tried to persuade Huo Jing to come to Beijing to see him, but Huo Jing said he had other plans.

Luo Qingming felt very disappointed.

He originally planned to earn enough money and gain some ability before returning to Peach Blossom Village to find him.

Unexpectedly, he saw Huo Jing during a transaction.

Huo Jing has changed a lot. He is more silent than before, and his demeanor is calm and composed. Even in a chaotic situation, he remains calm and collected.

He's become so different that Luo Qingming hardly recognizes him anymore.

Upon arriving in J City again, in the same small courtyard, Huo Jing stood up the moment Luo Qingming stepped inside.

"Boss, the person has been brought in." The tall man who brought Luo Qingming in bowed to Huo Jing.

Huo Jing waved his hand, "Take Xiao Ba to check the quality of that batch of goods."

"yes."

When the man left the yard, he also closed the door behind him.

Luo Qingming stood a meter away from Huo Jing, her face smooth and fair, her slightly red eyes particularly noticeable, and her tightly pursed lips revealing a hint of stubbornness.

Huo Jing looked at him calmly for a while, then suddenly reached out and touched his head. "Why are you here?"

“If you don’t want to see me, I can leave right now.” With her sensitive mind, how could Luo Qingming not notice that his attitude towards her was different from before? Her lips turned white from being bitten, and her eyes dimmed.

"That's not what I meant." Huo Jing twitched the corner of his mouth.

Under the current policy environment, doing business on the black market is like walking a tightrope; a slight misstep could lead to certain doom.

He works in this industry himself, so he understands the dangers better than anyone else.

Huo Jing looked at Luo Qingming, whose face was pale but healthy, and felt a little relieved. He smiled slightly and said, "Listen to your brother. Once Xiao Ba and the others have finished counting the goods, you should hurry back to Beijing."

"Stop doing business on the black market."

Looking at the man's consistently tolerant gaze, Luo Qingming felt a surge of anger welling up inside her.

"Smack!"

He slapped his hand away forcefully.

A tingling sensation simultaneously spread through both of their hands, much like the inexplicable emotions lingering in their hearts.

Huo Jing stared at him blankly.

Luo Qingming's body trembled uncontrollably as she said in a trembling voice, "Huo Jing, why didn't you tell me when you left Peach Blossom Village? Why didn't you tell me when you came to J City? Why didn't you come to see me? J City is so close to Beijing, you...you, have you ever come to see me even once?"

Huo Jing stepped forward, wanting to explain something, but when he saw the tears in Luo Qingming's eyes, he couldn't say anything.

Luo Qingming took a step back, gritting her teeth, "If I hadn't seen you first, would you have planned to never appear in front of me again?"

"You're telling me to go back to Beijing and stop doing black market business, are you trying to tell me not to come to J City?"

"Are you planning to cut ties with me?"

The last sentence, though phrased as a rhetorical question, conveys an affirmative attitude.

Huo Jing lowered his eyelids slightly, casting a shadow. He didn't say a word, but his silence was the most powerful answer.

A bitter feeling welled up in Luo Qingming's heart, and she took a few steps back.

He asked softly, "Why?"

He didn't understand, he didn't know why Huo Jing had chosen to never speak to him again.

The two had relied on each other for so many years, each being the other's only support and comfort in the darkness of their lives.

When he left Peach Blossom Village, he always thought that he was just using Huo Jing, but the dense pain in his heart told him the answer.

He had nightmares every day, dreaming of Huo Jing lying alone on the crooked tree by the river, dreaming of the mountain opening its blood-red maw and swallowing Huo Jing whole, dreaming of many scenes that made it hard for him to breathe.

So he desperately wanted to grow up, return to Peach Blossom Village, go back to find Huo Jing, and find the older brother who had raised him little by little.

He wanted a bright and promising future, and he also wanted Huo Jing to always be by his side.

Their fates became completely intertwined the moment Huo Jing took pity on him and gave him a chicken leg.

No one can separate them.

Luo Qingming's eyes flashed with an unusual persistence, yet also carried a strange, morbid quality.

Huo Jing sighed inwardly, his eyes filled with struggle. "Ah Ming, now that you've found your family, live a good life and stop doing risky things. I'm not looking for you because I don't want to cause you any trouble."

"No." Luo Qingming did not accept his explanation.

When he heard these words, his brain automatically filtered them out, and only one thought remained in his mind.

That is to pester him, just like when you were a child and wanted food, begging for his pity and compassion, in order to achieve your own goals.

Luo Qingming clung tightly to Huo Jing's sleeve, "Brother, I'll do whatever you do, please don't abandon me."

Huo Jing's jaw tightened, his expression serious. He pulled his hand away and said, "Don't be willful, A-Ming. Go back to Beijing and live a good life. I'll come to see you when I have the chance."

Seeing that Luo Qingming is doing well now, he is relieved.

He didn't want to get him involved in trouble; staying with him meant facing many dangers.

He was all alone, with no ties to anyone, so even if he died, it wouldn't be a big deal.

But Ah Ming is different. He yearns for freedom and longs for brilliance. Now, with a family connected by blood, his future is destined to be bright and full of hope.

Huo Jing's requirements were simple: he just wanted Luo Qingming to be happy.

In his view, all good things must come to an end. Luo Qingming had relied on him since childhood, so it was normal for her to be unable to accept it when she first found out.

Huo Jing had no ambitions in life, and now that Luo Qingming had a family, his only wish was to find his mother.

He wanted to know how she was doing and whether she had been bullied.

If she is happy, he will secretly glance at her, leave her enough money to ensure her a comfortable life in her later years.

If she is unhappy in life, he will do everything he can to take her away and take care of her in her old age.

The reason he came to Beijing was twofold: firstly, because it was close to the city, so he could help Luo Qingming if he needed anything.

Secondly, it was because he had heard when he was a child that his mother's home was in a small town in J City.

Luo Qingming gave him a deep look. "If you don't want me anymore, then don't worry about what I do."

He left after saying just one sentence.

"Ah Ming..." Huo Jing followed for a distance, and the slender figure in his sight gradually shrank and disappeared.

"Sigh." He sighed, took out a cigarette, lit it, and carefully recalled Luo Qingming's emotional changes as he exhaled smoke.

Is this child too dependent on him?
