Lin Xiaoxiao looked up at him with her big eyes, "How did you know I was doing something dangerous?"
What she really wanted to ask was, "Do you know something?"
Wen Mo put down his chopsticks, his expression perfectly composed. "Little guy, you don't think I don't know you're from the mainland, do you?"
Lin Xiaoxiao glanced at him a few times, trying to determine whether he was an enemy or a friend.
Seeing her wary expression, Wen Mo found it amusing but remained serious on the surface. "I don't care what you want to do, but if it threatens the safety of the people, I cannot stand idly by."
As the Chief Superintendent of Police of Hong Kong, there was absolutely nothing wrong with what he said.
He doesn't care about other things, as long as they don't endanger the public or public safety.
Lin Xiaoxiao looked away, a seed of doubt planted in her heart.
This guy surnamed Wen seems to have a rather unusual background.
"Why are you talking about the baby?" Wen Shiyu looked at Wen Mo unhappily.
Wen Mo: "..."
"I was wrong." He apologized quickly.
Then he picked up the serving chopsticks and put a piece of spare rib on Lin Xiaoxiao's plate. "I really don't know whether to say you're brave or ignorant. You dare to come to Hong Kong with a baby in your belly."
Seeing Lin Xiaoxiao looking at him in surprise, he awkwardly said, "Eat more."
Lin Xiaoxiao lowered her eyes and said, "Thank you."
Then I ate the ribs.
Seeing this, Wen Shiyu gave Wen Mo a satisfied look.
After finishing his meal, Wen Mo had someone take Lin Xiaoxiao home, intending to rest for a bit before heading to the police station.
Wen Shiyu pulled him back to the room expressionlessly, and closed the door tightly after they entered.
"What's wrong, Madam?" Wen Mo didn't understand her meaning.
Wen Shiyu sat next to him, quietly flipping through photos of herself when she was young. Pointing to one of them, she asked, "Don't you think... Xiaoxiao looks a bit like me?"
Wen Mo looked down and saw a black and white profile photo. The background was slightly blurry, but upon closer inspection, it did indeed resemble Lin Xiaoxiao by about 50%.
His pupils contracted as he looked at Wen Shiyu, "Madam, back then, you and I witnessed it ourselves..."
“I don’t believe it.” Wen Shiyu interrupted him, her face cold. “They say that mothers and children are connected by heart. Over the years, I’ve always had a feeling that our child is not dead.”
"Do you know..."
She paused halfway through her sentence, grabbed Wen Mo's hand, and trembled with excitement. "At first, I couldn't believe it either, but when I thought about it carefully, it was too much of a coincidence."
