Chapter 422 Preparing to Invite the Chu Family to Dinner: Pay Attention to Huang Jian

Wen Mo exhaled a breath of stale air, casting aside his mixed emotions.

"That's for sure, let's do it tomorrow. Ask them if they have time."

Regardless of the circumstances, Chu Weinian was still his daughter's official godfather, so even if he felt a pang of jealousy, he still had to do what he was supposed to do.

"Okay, I'll make a call."

Time was a bit tight, so Lin Xiaoxiao didn't waste any time. She picked up the phone and dialed a string of numbers.

"Hello." It was Chu Wuyan's voice that came from the other end.

"It's me, Third Brother."

"Sister Lin, you're back in the capital?" Chu Wuyan, who had just finished packing and was about to leave, answered the phone when it rang. He was surprised to hear it was Lin Xiaoxiao.

He put down what he was holding and asked, "Are Uncle Wen and Aunt Wen here too?"

"Yes, they're all here." Lin Xiaoxiao glanced at her parents. "My parents want to invite Grandpa Chu and the others over for dinner. Could you ask them if they have time?"

Just then, Grandpa Chu returned from a walk with Chu Xiaobao.

"Grandpa, Xiaoxiao is asking if you have time. Uncle Wen and the others are treating us to dinner tomorrow." Chu Wuyan looked at Grandpa Chu.

When Chu Wuyan returned to Beijing, he immediately told his family the news that Lin Xiaoxiao had found her biological parents.

"Auntie?" Chu Xiaobao let go of Grandpa Chu's hand, ran over and hugged Chu Wuyan's leg, tilting his head up.

Chu Wuyan rubbed his head. "Yes, your aunt. Come on, say a few words to your aunt."

Next, Lin Xiaoxiao heard Chu Xiaobao's childish voice coming from the phone, "Auntie, Xiaobao hasn't seen you in so long..."

I don't know how that little guy can talk so well.

Her little mouth was chattering away.

Lin Xiaoxiao didn't find it annoying at all, and chatted with him for a while with great interest. After that, it was Grandpa Chu who answered the phone.

He said he would come tomorrow if he had time.

“Great! Grandpa likes playing chess, and my great-uncle is also a chess master. You two can have a match tomorrow.”

"That's great! I'll bring my treasured white jade chess set with me tomorrow." Old Master Chu laughed heartily.

Lin Xiaoxiao didn't forget the others either, "Please inform my godfather, godmother, second uncle, second aunt, and second brother."

She didn't know the phone number for Chu Xiaonian's military region office, so she could only ask Old Master Chu to contact him.

"It's nothing, Grandpa will make sure to let you know."

After hanging up the phone, everyone knew that the Chu family was coming tomorrow.

Neither Wen Mo nor Wen Shiyu can cook, but they brought a chef with them—the same chef Wen Mo hired for Lin Xiaoxiao in Nancheng who was very skilled at cooking Jiangcheng cuisine.

The Chu family are natives of Beijing and prefer northern cuisine.

Wen Mo asked him if he could cook Northern cuisine, and the chef patted his chest and assured him, "Sir, don't worry, I can cook all eight major cuisines, not just Northern cuisine."

"Excellent, the banquet tomorrow is in your hands." Wen Mo felt that he had made the right choice in hiring this chef.

My daughter is pregnant and my son-in-law is away on a mission. Having a chef to prepare three meals a day will make things easier for my daughter.

Things that can be solved with money aren't really problems.

The chef was happy to work at this place, mainly because the owners were generous. In addition to the regular three meals a day, Wen Mo and Wen Shiyu would give him extra money if there were many people and they needed to treat guests.

He calculated that he earned more in a month at this company than an average worker earned in a year.

The task of grocery shopping has also been handed over to the chef.

He knows exactly what ingredients to buy if he wants to cook a particular dish.

Lin Xiaoxiao lay sprawled on the bed, sighing repeatedly. Having someone cook and clean for her, and not having to do anything, was indeed corrupting to her mind.

No wonder everyone opposes the petty-bourgeois lifestyle.

Hard work and perseverance are the only true path.

"Xiaoxiao, get up and have breakfast." Wen Shiyu gently knocked on Lin Xiaoxiao's door.

"Okay," Lin Xiaoxiao replied, then lay down for another minute before getting up, putting on her clothes, and going out.

The round table in the restaurant was already full of breakfast.

Three different fillings of steamed buns, shumai, fried bread slices, pork liver porridge, bird's nest porridge, soy milk, and some side dishes to accompany the porridge.

Although there are many varieties, the quantity is well controlled. With Wenmo around, there is absolutely no chance of waste.

"This is such a feast!" Lin Xiaoxiao washed her face and brushed her teeth, then came over and sat down.

After looking around, he said with some surprise.

Good heavens! Who eats such a lavish breakfast? Did the chef get up at 3 a.m. to prepare it?

"Your mother's nutritionist in Gangcheng said that you should try to have a diverse diet every day." Wen Mo was also a rough man; he could get by on just steamed buns for a meal.

But Wen Shiyu has always been particular about food, and has been so since she was a child.

Wen Mo couldn't possibly allow his wife's life to be worse than before after marrying him.

Wen Shiyu sipped her bird's nest porridge slowly, then picked up the serving chopsticks and put a small steamed bun on Lin Xiaoxiao's plate.

How small are the steamed buns? Lin Xiaoxiao can finish one in one bite.

Wen Shiyu, however, needed five or six bites to finish her meal.

Lin Xiaoxiao slurped her porridge, watching her mother eat with a smile. It was quite a sight to behold.

After dinner, Wen Mo went out. Wen Shiyu wanted to visit the department stores and Friendship Store in Beijing to buy some things, and Lin Xiaoxiao naturally went with her.

Uncle stayed home to rest.

"Xiaoxiao, come and give Mommy some advice on which outfit to wear." Wen Shiyu likes to share her clothes and jewelry with her daughter, and she also likes to help Lin Xiaoxiao put together outfits.

But Lin Xiaoxiao was already six months pregnant and couldn't wear many of her clothes anymore.

So she wanted to buy some clothes for her daughter.
