"Your business is really extensive."
The girl looked somewhat dazed.
I took out my phone and showed her the photos.
"Absolutely legitimate, absolutely professional, officially certified!"
Fortunately, I took two photos while helping out at the police station today.
Seeing this, the girl lowered her guard and put my business card into her bag.
"Okay, I'll call you if I need anything."
After saying that, she turned and left.
I turned my head and looked at Luo Tianhe and the other person who were chatting happily.
"She'll call me soon, you believe me?"
"I believe you, but how did you know?"
Li Huai nodded and asked.
"The effects of the arrangements the master made on her are waning, which means she will soon be like us, frequently encountering ghosts."
I explained casually.
"I didn't get to eat, and I'm still fuming. Let's go to a bar to relax."
Luo Tianhe reached out to flag down a taxi on the roadside.
"A bar, do they have anything to eat there?"
Li Huai rubbed his stomach and muttered to himself that he was really hungry and felt like he could eat a whole cow.
"There are some snacks and fruit platters, but no proper meals, just enough to tide you over."
Luo Tianhe answered casually, then turned his head and revealed a lewd smile.
"But there's something even more delicious there."
"Something even more delicious? What is it? It's all so mysterious."
Li Huai's curiosity was piqued.
"Haha, beautiful lady's tart, wanna have some?"
"What are you talking about? Do you think I'm that kind of person?"
Li Huai understood immediately and put on a righteous and awe-inspiring appearance.
"Chen Yan, stop pretending to be serious. You're just killing time anyway, go have some fun."
I thought about it for a moment, and since I had nothing else to do, I simply agreed.
Soon, a car arrived, and the three of us got in. Luo Tianhe waved his hand dismissively:
"Let's go to the [Drunken Night Stars] bar."
"Okay."
The driver responded and sped off without turning on the navigation. I didn't think much of it; the "Drunken Night Stars" bar was quite famous, so it was normal for him to know the way.
Soon, Luo Tianhe, sitting in the passenger seat, noticed something was wrong:
"Master, are you sure you're not mistaken? Is this the direction to [Drunken Night Stars]?"
“That’s right, it’s a shortcut that very few people know about.”
The driver remained unfazed.
"Okay, fine."
Luo Tianhe sat back down, as if nothing had happened.
I found it a bit strange. Luo Tianhe frequents bars, and there are shortcuts he doesn't know about?
Just then, I received a text message on my phone. The sender was Luo Tianhe.
"This driver is suspicious; we need to find a way to escape."
I immediately frowned and began to think.
Who sent this driver? Was it Wu Zhiguo or Wu Heng's father-in-law?
If it's Wu Heng's father-in-law, that's fine; it's probably because of his daughter. We don't have any deep-seated hatred for him. But I'm afraid it's Wu Zhiguo who sent them. That old bastard is here to kill us.
Direct threats of force are definitely not an option. What if the driver veers off course during a fight, causing the car to crash and the driver to die?
Thinking of this, I edited a text message and replied:
"I'll control him in a bit, you keep the car steady."
"good."
Delay could lead to complications. After making the arrangements, I acted swiftly, striking the driver's carotid sinus. He groaned and fainted.
The instant I made my move, Luo Tianhe gripped the steering wheel and shifted into park.
The car came to a smooth and slow stop.
This scene left Li Huai, who was standing nearby, stunned.
"Holy crap, what are you guys doing? This is like a real-life GTA!"
He thought we were going to steal the car.
"Hey, this driver's acting strangely. He's taking a shortcut, but this is the opposite direction from the [Drunken Night Stars] bar!"
Luo Tianhe was cursing and swearing. I explained that someone was probably trying to get back at us.
We stopped the car, tore the driver's clothes into pieces to use as rope, tied them up, and threw them into the trunk. Then we drove to a secluded riverside.
"Holy crap, are you guys trying to kill me to cover your tracks?"
Li Huai immediately realized that this was an excellent location to dispose of the body.
"That depends on whether he cooperates or not."
Luo Tianhe's voice was icy.
After parking the car, Luo Tianhe went up and slapped people a few times, a move that was incredibly easy for him to make them wake up.
“Hmm,”
The driver slowly woke up and, seeing us staring at him menacingly, immediately realized he had been exposed.
Seeing that he wasn't going to yell or scream, I pulled the clothes out of his mouth and questioned him in an icy tone:
"Speak, who sent you?"
"Don't be impulsive, our boss just wants to have a talk with you."
The driver sounded a little flustered, as if he was afraid we would harm him.
"Your boss? Wu Heng's father-in-law?"
"Yes! But you'd better not mention his name in front of our boss. You know our boss, he hates him."
The driver smiled wryly.
Luo Tianhe and I exchanged a glance. The driver didn't seem to be lying. And if it was Wu Zhiguo's doing, he might have directly hired a suicide squad to lead us to confront the Hundred-Ton King head-on!
“He wants to talk to us about why he hasn’t contacted us and is resorting to such tactics. We find it hard to believe that he doesn’t intend to harm us.”
Luo Tianhe pulled out a sharp dagger and toyed with it in his hand, his expression full of threat.
"Let's talk this out, please don't resort to violence. I'm just a driver, how would I know what the boss is thinking? I have elderly parents and young children to support, my whole family depends on me to live."
The driver begged for mercy without any backbone.
"Besides, isn't that how important people on TV always do things? Invite them over first. Maybe our boss watches too many movies."
It seems they really weren't sent by Wu Zhiguo, so there's no problem.
"Get lost. If you're asking for a favor, you should have the right attitude. If he needs anything, he should come to Yanhehuai Funeral Home to find us himself."
I kicked the driver without hesitation, and instead of complaining, he nodded repeatedly, his eyes filled with gratitude.
Seeing that Luo Tianhe was about to say something, I waved my hand:
"He's just a nobody, there's no need to make things too difficult for him. And don't offend the person behind him, because if necessary, that person might become our help in dealing with Wu Zhiguo."
"At least let him take us to the city center. It's the middle of nowhere here, and we can't get a taxi. I don't want to walk back!"
Seeing us walk towards him, the driver's eyes flashed with panic, afraid that we would change our minds.
I knocked on the car window.
"Unlock the door and take us back to the city first."
Upon hearing this, the driver felt a great sense of relief.
When we got back to the city, it was already dark. Luo Tianhe was too tired to bother anymore, so we bought some bread and water at a convenience store because we were starving.
Just then, my phone rang. When I opened it, I saw it was an unknown number.
Who called?
Is Wu Heng's father-in-law or that girl?
That's when it dawned on me that I forgot to ask their names!
Click to answer, and a girl's voice comes from the other end of the phone:
"Aren't you guys supposed to catch ghosts? I... I think I've encountered a ghost!"
