Chapter 1363 Ghost Marriage

How could it be Lao Dao?

For a moment, my mind went blank.

At this moment, Lao Dao's face turned ashen, and he grinned at me, forcing out an extremely eerie smile.

"Holy crap, what is that?"

At that moment, Luo Tianhe's voice rang in my ears.

He also saw the wedding procession outside the window, but he didn't see Lao Dao at the end of the procession.

At this moment, Luo Tianhe also couldn't help but shiver, but he quickly calmed down and revealed a fierce expression.

Then he grabbed the fire axe from the corner of the wall and walked over to his side.

"Bai Su? She's come looking for you again, but isn't she already..."

Luo Tianhe's tone was full of doubt, and before he could finish speaking, I interrupted him:

"It's not Bai Su, it's the ghost bride from that mass grave."

"That ghost bride? She can come out?!"

Luo Tianhe's eyes widened in surprise.

He truly hadn't expected that thing could actually track him from the mass grave to the city.

Why did this thing have to come at this particular time of year?

My heart sank, and after a moment's thought, I roughly understood the reason.

The resentment in that human skin sachet was already full, and this ghost bride wanted me to go back.

But with that evil Taoist priest around, I didn't dare go to that mass grave for the time being.

Upon hearing that it was that thing, Luo Tianhe also felt a little scared.

He scratched the goosebumps on his hands and muttered:

"How did you know it was the one from the mass grave?"

I pointed to the end of the welcoming line, gesturing for him to look.

"Old Dao!"

Immediately, Luo Tianhe's face was filled with joy.

He leaned out of the window to greet Lao Dao, but I grabbed him.

"Look at him, are you sure he's the same Lao Dao you know?"

Luo Tianhe was stunned.

Upon closer inspection, he realized that the old knife looked as if he had been dead for an unknown period of time, his body covered in lividity.

As they were talking, the strange wedding procession stopped outside the funeral home.

The sounds of the suona and bells abruptly stopped.

A deathly silence descended, even more suffocating than the eerie music from before.

Suddenly, with a creak, I heard the sound of the funeral home door being pushed open.

Luo Tianhe suddenly looked towards the door, his lips trembling as he asked me:

"I remember you should have locked the door already."

"Nonsense, it's already midnight. If we're still keeping the door open at this hour, are we waiting for ghosts to come and do business with us?"

I answered in a slightly trembling voice, hoping I had misheard.

But soon I found out that the funeral home doors really were open.

A gust of cold wind blew in, making both Luo Tianhe and me feel a chill.

I swallowed hard. We were standing by the window, and we couldn't see the front door at all.

"No, don't stay here, go see what's going on."

I stammered as I finished speaking, then led Luo Tianhe to the center of the main hall, staring intently at the open door.

Upon seeing this, my heart sank completely.

The wedding procession had completely blocked the entrance to the funeral home!

Now there's no way to escape, my funeral home doesn't have a back door.

The four men in red carrying the sedan chair stiffly adjusted the direction, positioning the sedan chair door directly opposite the entrance of the funeral home.

Then, everyone froze.

Like exquisitely crafted but lifeless paper figures, only the candlelight inside the white lanterns flickers uneasily.

Luo Tianhe stood on tiptoe and looked back, trying to find Lao Dao's whereabouts.

But after looking around, Old Knife had disappeared.

Suddenly, I noticed that the sedan curtain moved on its own without any wind, slowly lifting up a corner.

My heart started pounding like a drum, incredibly fast.

A slender, pale blue hand, adorned with a jade bracelet, slowly emerged from the sedan chair and gently rested on the door.

I could clearly see her nails, painted with bright red nail polish, as red as blood.

Immediately afterwards, a figure dressed in a phoenix coronet and embroidered robe, with a bright red veil covering her head, slowly stepped out of the sedan chair, bending over.

The moment that figure appeared, I could feel the surrounding temperature plummet, as if it were an ice cellar.

The bright red veil completely obscured her face, and the veil rose and fell slightly, as if this ghost bride were a living person, breathing.

My breathing became rapid, and a strong desire compelled me to lift her veil.

Something's not right!

I bit my tongue hard, and the sharp pain brought me back to my senses, causing me to stumble back several steps.

A cold wind blew, carrying a strange stench mixed with the smells of earth, old cosmetics, and rotting corpses.

I quickly held my breath; I had only taken a sniff, and my stomach was already churning.

Luo Tianhe's face was also deathly pale as he struggled to suppress the urge to vomit.

We both agreed that if we vomited in front of this ghost bride, we'd probably die a horrible death.

The funeral home was deathly silent.

After waiting for a long time, seeing that the ghost bride did not make any move, I mustered up my courage and looked at her closely.

She was slender and graceful, dressed in an exquisite phoenix coronet and embroidered robe, clearly from a wealthy family.

But the red color, which should have been festive, was now incredibly glaring!

Like dried blood, it carried an ominous premonition.

The auspicious patterns of mandarin ducks and peonies embroidered on the embroidered robe were distorted and deformed in the dim light, making my scalp tingle.

For some reason, I felt a faint, lingering gaze fixed on me from beneath her red veil.

Luo Tianhe's hands, gripping the fire axe tightly, had turned white at the knuckles due to excessive force.

But he was completely unaware, gripping the fire axe tightly in his hand.

I could tell that the ghost bride didn't seem to have any ill intentions.

After all, it was she who saw Luo Tianhe and me out of the manor; otherwise, we probably would have died there.

In a way, we owe her a life.

Thinking of this, I couldn't bear the awkward atmosphere any longer, and forced myself to say:

"Young lady, is there something you need from me?"

Upon hearing my words, the ghost bride finally made a move and nodded slightly.

I hesitated for a moment, then took out the human skin sachet and handed it to her.

But she hesitated to take it.

I was immediately puzzled. Had I guessed wrong?

Suddenly, she raised the hand that was wearing a jade bracelet.

The ghost bride moved extremely slowly, with an inhuman stiffness, as if her joints had not been used for a long time.

I thought she was going to retrieve the human skin sachet, and I immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

But soon I realized I was overthinking it.

She seemed oblivious to the human skin sachet in front of her, now brimming with resentment; with a slight flick of her wrist, something appeared in her hand.

It was a yellowed and charred post, but you could still vaguely make out the red color.

And I happened to be able to see what was written on it, and my heart started pounding.

"We respectfully invite Mr. Yan of the Chen family to our home for a private meeting through this posthumous marriage."

"The betrothal gifts have been prepared; I hope you will accept them with a smile."
