Old Dao was a little surprised, wondering why I wanted to investigate further.
Do you think this matter is over now?
I pursed my lips. Old Dao has been with me for so long, yet he hasn't made much progress.
Can't you see through such an obvious tactic?
"You mean, this female ghost is lying!"
Old Dao suddenly realized what was going on and began pointing at the female ghost.
The female ghost was so frightened that she repeatedly told me, "Master, everything Hua Hua said is true, there's not a single lie!"
At this point, the female ghost immediately knelt down before me, her respectful demeanor making me too embarrassed to say anything.
"Alright, get up. I didn't say you were lying; you just told me what you saw!"
But then again, what makes you so sure that what you see is necessarily true?
I stared at the female ghost and asked a question with a half-smile.
Hua Hua was not lying; she only said what she actually saw.
But here's the problem!
She couldn't be sure if what she saw was real.
"But these are my memories of devouring that orb of light!"
The female ghost was baffled and, up until now, had not realized the seriousness of the problem.
"Besides, those are the memories of that demon before he died. No matter the reason, he has no reason to lie to me!"
The female ghost continued to add.
"That's right, Brother Chen, what this female ghost said makes sense. As the saying goes, a dying person's words are kind. Besides, this demon probably doesn't know that we have the means to devour memories!"
Old Dao, like a troublemaker, started trying to persuade me again.
I maintained my nonchalant demeanor: "That demon, I truly don't know, but is it possible that the alteration of memories was to conceal something even bigger!"
After hearing this, all three were shocked.
"What! Brother Chen, you mean there's something even more powerful than this demon?"
Old Dao could hardly believe his ears; this news was truly a bombshell for him.
We were exhausted after finally defeating one of the demons.
Now I tell them there's an even more powerful one. Anyone would be devastated by that!
"Yes, Hua Hua's message just now sounded fine, but it was just too bland!"
It's as if the story ends here.
My feeling is that there's only one demon in this house!
The problem is, this is a thousand-year-old clan! How could they have only one member after suppressing them for so long?
I pointed to the base of the golem and said softly.
"I'm afraid there's an even more powerful demon that's been using that inner demon all along, and has altered its memories beforehand to avoid being exposed!"
Therefore, even if we were able to absorb memories, the conclusions we draw would almost certainly be wrong!
My voice grew louder and louder because I felt I was very close to the truth.
"So that's how it is! Master, you're amazing! No wonder I could always see some blank spaces; these things were probably deliberately hidden!"
The female ghost admired me immensely.
The female ghost's words completely confirmed my guess.
I suddenly felt that there seemed to be two forces at play in this situation.
One force is guiding me to investigate, while another is preventing me from doing so.
The more I thought about it, the more my head ached, so I covered my head and squatted down on the ground.
"Brother Chen!"
"uncle!"
"Older brother!"
"master!"
The three of them, plus the female ghost, all looked at me with concern.
We're all in this together now. If something happens to me, the others won't fare any better!
"It's nothing, I just thought of some bad things. You guys should rest and get some rest."
"Hey girl, share some of your rations. Let's replenish our strength. I have a feeling a tough battle is coming!"
I looked at the older woman next to me and asked her to share some of her food.
After such a long period of exploration, our physical strength has long been exhausted.
"Alright, Huahua, you can stay inside for now. I'll call you when I need you!"
I took out the bronze mirror and used it to capture the female ghost inside.
Although there isn't as much evil energy in the altar now, the female ghost's body will still suffer some damage from being exposed to the outside for a long time.
After a short rest, I set off.
The fat man's body is indeed special. Even after I stabbed him like this with my lightning sword, he still acts like nothing happened.
I checked my wound before I left, and wow, it's completely healed.
"Xiao He, are you really alright?"
I looked at the fat man and asked him with concern.
"It's alright, sir. This is just how my body is. Didn't you say that I'm just like a dead person?"
The fat man gave a bitter smile, a very unpleasant one, even more so than Old Dao's smile.
"That's true. It's good that you're alright. If you can't handle it, just tell me and you can take a break!"
"Don't worry, sir, I'm in pretty good shape. Anyway, I'm basically a dead man!"
The fat man laughed heartily, much more cheerful than before.
"Yes, let's go. The altar is located here! So if there's an even more powerful demon, it should be here!"
I pointed to the northwest corner on the map.
This is positioned in a triangular formation with the altar.
Moreover, in the middle of them was the ancestral hall.
I have a feeling that something is wrong with this place.
