Chapter 50 Heading to Rabbit Ear Village

As soon as I saw the dense purplish-red spots on that skinny bamboo pole's neck and the back of his hands, I knew it was all over.

I was acting, but the other person was really there!

Giving me a bite by random means is no different than being bitten by a zombie.

Being haunted by a ghost can still be cured, but getting this stuff is truly hopeless.

As the skinny guy approached me, I turned around and pressed the syringe against the neck of the old man in the bed next to Jinye's.

I don't know who this old man is, but seeing that Luo Tianhe refused help from others and personally helped him lie down on the bed, I know that this old man is very important to Luo Tianhe.

He might be Luo Tianhe's boss, or an important figure in the gang.

Sure enough, Luo Tianhe became nervous as soon as he saw me holding the old man hostage.

"Kid, you'd better put down that thing in your hand, or I guarantee you'll regret ever being born! Release the person, and we'll call it even!"

Luo Tianhe stared intently at me, his gaze seeming as if he wanted to devour me alive.

"Do you think I'm a fool? If I release them, do you think I'll survive? All of you, get out of here, or we'll fight to the death!"

As I spoke, I moved the syringe in my hand forward another half step.

Luo Tianhe gritted his teeth, trying hard to control his temper: "In all these years, you are the first person who has dared to threaten me."

I sneered: "Don't flatter yourself. The first threat to you will be your billions of brothers and sisters!"

Luo Tianhe's face instantly turned so dark it looked like it could drip water.

He glared at me fiercely, then turned to his brothers and squeaked out a single word through gritted teeth: "Let's go!"

After saying that, he turned and left the ward with everyone.

Only after I was sure their footsteps had completely disappeared at the end of the corridor did I slowly release the syringe from the old man's neck.

The old man remained calm and composed, showing no fear whatsoever. Instead, he smiled and looked at Master Jin.

He said with a chuckle, "You two little brothers are really bold, daring to threaten even Xiao Luo."

I apologized to him, feeling embarrassed: "Sir, I'm really sorry. I was forced into this situation and had no other choice."

The old man waved his hand dismissively: "It's only because you ran into Xiao Luo. If it were anyone else, you two would be dead for sure."

Su Mingyang asked with a puzzled look, "Aren't you his boss? Does he not care about your safety? Is he trying to take over?"

The old man burst into laughter after hearing this: "You've been watching too many movies, haven't you? What boss? I'm just an ordinary old man. This is the first time I've met Xiao Luo."

"First time meeting?" Su Mingyang and I looked at each other in bewilderment.

The old man sighed softly: "I've never met Xiao Luo before, but my son used to hang out with him. Later, my son was in a car accident and unfortunately passed away."

“In the past two years, Xiao Luo has been sending me money and has often asked about my life. Today, when he heard that I was hospitalized, he rushed over to see me.”

After saying that, the old man couldn't help but sigh, "What a pity, such a good person, yet he chose this path."

After listening to the old man's words, I couldn't help but have a new opinion of Luo Tianhe.

This is a real man!

At the same time, I was secretly relieved. If Luo Tianhe had really insisted on attacking us regardless of the consequences, Su Mingyang and I would have been in grave danger.

Because the old man next door was there, we couldn't discuss Bai Su's matter with Grandpa Jin. We just agreed to go to Rabbit Ear Village tomorrow.

That night, Su Mingyang and I didn't dare go home to sleep, so we found a large bathhouse to spend the night in.

I don't know if it was because there were many people and the yang energy was strong, but I slept soundly until dawn without encountering anything strange.

However, the lividity on my body and Su Mingyang's body had expanded considerably, even appearing on our necks.

We had no choice but to buy a turtleneck sweater to wear, otherwise we really wouldn't know how to face people.

At noon, Jin sent the address of Rabbit Ear Village to my phone, saying that the doctor wouldn't let me leave the hospital.

He also said that if they went together, the richest man in the country would be suspicious. He would stay behind and send a message if anything happened, and he would provide remote assistance.

Enraged, Su Mingyang cursed Jin Ye for being untrustworthy and cowardly.

Before he could finish yelling, his phone rang.

It was a call from the hospital saying that his mother was critically ill and had been admitted to the ICU.

Seeing that he was sweating profusely, I told him to go to the hospital while I went to Rabbit Ear Village alone.

Su Mingyang was a little worried and asked me if I could manage alone, or if I should wait a couple of days.

I patted him on the shoulder and said that time waits for no one, and we can't afford to waste any more time.

Rabbit Ear Village is very remote. The first two trips were okay, but from the third trip onwards, I felt like I wanted to die.

Except for the first hour or so on the highway, the rest of the time we drove on national highways. Whenever someone flagged us down, the driver would stop.

Some villagers even brought live poultry onto the truck, filling the truck with the smells of feet, sweat, and live chickens and ducks.

The taste wasn't bad, but the road was so winding that I almost threw up my bile as soon as I got out of the car.

By the time we arrived, the sun was almost setting.

If you stand here and look ahead, you can see a small mountain village.

The houses in the village are mostly two- or three-story buildings, which is much better than the dilapidated and backward mountain village I had imagined before I came.

As I was wondering where to stay for the night, a stone suddenly flew over and hit me squarely on the shoulder, making me gasp in pain.

I turned around and saw a ragged beggar standing not far away.

His hair was so long that it almost completely covered his face, leaving only one eye visible.

His clothes were tattered and covered in mud and unknown yellow stains, and you could smell a nauseating sour stench from a distance.

Seeing me looking at him, he bent down, picked up an even bigger rock, and threw it at me forcefully.

However, I was prepared this time and dodged it with a simple turn of my head.

To everyone's surprise, he became even more enthusiastic, laughing loudly as he bent down to pick up stones.

Is this never going to end?!

I had just picked up a stone to throw when I saw the beggar, as if he had seen something terrifying, kneel down and kowtow hard. Soon his head was bleeding profusely.

Then he raised his hand and waved it around incessantly, as if he were hitting something.

He screamed at the top of his lungs, "It wasn't me! I didn't kill you! It's a ghost... there's a ghost!"

He shouted and staggered back a few steps, accidentally tripping over a stone on the ground, but immediately scrambled to his feet and ran into the woods.

madman!

I cursed my bad luck, threw down the stone in my hand, and turned around.

As soon as I turned around, I saw an old woman wearing a black cotton-padded coat and carrying a bamboo basket standing behind me.

His face was wrinkled like old tree bark, covered with crisscrossing scars, and his eyes were wide open, staring intently at me!

I took two steps back and called out, "Grandma."

She didn't say anything, but kept staring straight at me.

I raised my voice: "Grandma, is this Rabbit Ear Village?"

She narrowed her eyes slightly, remaining silent.

Just when I thought she couldn't understand what I was saying, the old lady grinned and pointed to her mouth.

She only has half a tongue.
