"It won't go out!"
Professor Tan frantically tried to blow out the candle, but the green flame just shook violently.
Luo Tianhe snatched the candle and poked the flame against the wall, but it was no use; the flame seemed to be stuck to the wick.
"roar."
We don’t know which head let out a low growl that didn’t sound like a human voice, and then all the movable pieces of corpse rushed toward us frantically, several times faster than before.
Holy crap!
Luo Tianhe's eyes turned red, and he swung his baton in a blur, like hitting a baseball, sending several heads flying back with a series of crackling sounds.
The sounds of bones cracking and splattering fluid were deafening, but he alone was no match for the limbs and severed bodies that were pouring in from all directions!
A swollen, bluish-black hand suddenly sprang up from the ground, its five fingers like hooks, and grabbed directly at Li Huai's face!
Li Huai screamed in terror and instinctively raised his arm to block, but the hand grabbed his forearm directly, and the dark nail instantly pierced the skin and dug into the flesh!
Damn it, these things have been enhanced; these candles have really driven us to a dead end.
I couldn't help but curse inwardly. Before, these severed limbs could only crawl on the ground, but now they were bouncing up and rolling around rapidly!
And when they grabbed my ankle, they just squeezed it tightly, making me feel a sharp pain, and that was it.
But now their fingernails are growing rapidly, easily penetrating flesh and injecting corpse poison. Getting caught like that is no joke!
Li Huai is a bloody example.
I was right next to him when I saw this, so I swung my Thunder Strike Sword and slammed the blade into his severed hand!
With a muffled crack, the severed hand was deformed from the impact and released Li Huai, but the Thunder Strike Sword also sent a shockwave that made my hand go numb.
More body parts surged up, and our back-to-back circle was instantly torn apart!
Suddenly I felt my foot trip. I looked down and saw a head with long, flowing hair biting my trouser leg with its white teeth.
Half of his spine was still attached to his head, writhing on the ground, looking incredibly creepy.
I felt a chill run down my spine. I tried to push him away with my right foot, but he almost knocked me down!
Next to me, a hand with only a bony palm grabbed my ankle; it was icy cold and caused a sharp pain.
Fortunately, since he no longer had any flesh or nails, Professor Tan's situation was much more dangerous, with two or three heads and several writhing entrails lunging at him.
If this continues, we'll be buried alive by these bits and pieces!
"We can't stay here like turtles in a jar! Break out, rush towards the back door!"
I roared hoarsely, no longer caring about any rules or regulations.
This is the storage room. The way I came is from the previous room. I followed the opposite direction from my memory and went through that side door.
After all, I don't want to go through all that trouble only to end up back where I started; wouldn't that be a waste of time?!
I wielded the Thunderstrike Sword in my left hand and kicked fiercely with my right foot, forcefully pushing my way through the side door!
Upon hearing this, Luo Tianhe also became ruthless, swinging his baton recklessly at the body parts blocking his path, smashing a sticky, foul-smelling path through them.
If it weren't for his incredible power, Li Huai and Professor Tan would have been in big trouble!
The four of us were walking among the writhing, broken limbs, each step landing on a cold, slippery liquid that made a sickening squelching sound.
His clothes were torn to shreds, and his body was covered in scratches and slime, emitting a pungent stench.
Finally, we arrived at the wooden door. Luo Tianhe grabbed the doorknob and pushed it with all his might!
"Creak!"
The door opened, but only a crack, before something blocked it from the outside.
"Damn it, something's blocking the door!"
Luo Tianhe's expression changed, and he pushed against the door with all his might. Li Huai and I quickly stepped forward to help. The door groaned under the strain, and the resistance from the outside was immense.
"On my command, 1, 2, 3, crash!"
Luo Tianhe roared, and the three of us slammed our shoulders hard against the door.
With a loud crash, a large part of the obstruction blocking the door was knocked away, and the door finally opened.
By this time, our eyes had adjusted to the darkness, and we could see what was blocking the door: a large pile of vines and branches tied together, covered in mud, as if they had been dug up from somewhere and piled up here.
Before we could even think about who was behind this, we scrambled through the crack in the door and tried to close it, but the writhing pieces of flesh behind it had already chased us inside.
Several severed hands and a head were stuck in the crack of the door, desperately trying to squeeze out.
"Fuck you!"
Luo Tianhe raised his foot and kicked the head hard, sending it and the severed hands flying back into the doorway. He then slammed the door shut with a bang and used a large rock to prop up the hinges.
Immediately, a series of loud banging and chilling thuds came from inside the door.
But the door was temporarily blocked.
"Holy crap, these are even scarier than the zombies in those American movies I've seen before!"
Luo Tianhe gasped for breath, cursed, and sat down against the door. He was exhausted.
I wasn't much better off; I was filthy and smelly, and covered in wounds.
However, Luo Tianhe and I were in the best condition among the four of us. Li Huai and Professor Tan were in a much worse state; they were not only injured but also infected with corpse poison.
Fortunately, he shouldn't die anytime soon.
After resting for a while, I looked up and found that we were in an even narrower and more dilapidated corridor. The walls were still made of rough earth, and most of the plaster had already peeled off, revealing the inner walls mixed with straw and adobe bricks, just like the buildings from decades ago.
I feel like we've traveled through time. These mud-brick walls mixed with straw are rarely seen in the countryside nowadays!
"Where the hell is this?!"
Li Huai clutched his bleeding arm, his face pale.
"It resembled servants' quarters or back alleyways where miscellaneous items were stored."
Professor Tan was panting, it was hard on him, at his age, and he had suffered so many injuries. Luo Tianhe checked his baton, which was covered in blood.
He plucked a few straws from the wall to wipe himself, then looked at my and Li Huai's injuries, his brow furrowing: "Can you still move? We can't stay here any longer, we need to find a way out quickly!"
I tried moving my right arm; the numbness persisted, but the tingling pain lessened somewhat.
Although his left hand was somewhat weak, it could still move. The wound on Li Huai's arm was not deep, but the edges were black and the blood that flowed out was dark in color.
Professor Tan is in a similar situation; he can still walk.
"Let's go, follow this passage forward and see if we can get out."
I gritted my teeth and stood up.
