This thing is so mysterious! I stared wide-eyed in surprise.
Luo Tianhe and Li Huai, who were standing to the side, were also somewhat surprised, as they had thought the ceremony was not too complicated.
After all, it was just a mouthful of blood from the tip of the tongue and a piece of white silk.
They seemed to have noticed our confusion.
Master Zhang Qingxiao explained, "That white silk is not so simple. It is sewn from mulberry and hemp that grow in the place with the heaviest yin energy in the world."
“In such an extremely yin place, the growth of mulberry and hemp is particularly difficult. In the past hundred years, we have only harvested enough to weave seven or eight white silk ribbons.”
So this thing is so precious!
My eyes were filled with gratitude as I looked at the Taoist priest. He had given me such a precious item without hesitation.
"Alright, let's go in."
The Taoist priest pushed open the door of the Seeking Knowledge Building. The once bright and shiny door was now covered with deep red rust, or rather, it looked more like dried, congealed bloodstains.
Pushing open the door revealed a dark corridor filled with a strong smell of mildew and decay.
I swallowed hard. If the bruises on my face hadn't gotten worse, I would have turned around and left immediately.
But the die was cast. I walked up the steps and followed the Taoist priest into the Building of Seeking Knowledge.
As soon as I entered, a chilling, biting wind immediately hit me, and I felt a chill run through my body, unable to help but shiver.
I took out a flashlight from my backpack. We hadn't been idle all afternoon; we had prepared some things.
Under the flashlight beam, the stairwell was covered with a thick layer of dust, the walls were covered with mold, and in some places the paint had peeled off, revealing the dark interior.
Most of the classroom doors on both sides were closed, and the room numbers were illegible.
A dark shadow would occasionally flash by at the end of the corridor ahead. When I walked past the classroom, I would feel that someone was watching me from inside. But when I turned my head suddenly, I couldn't see anything. The classroom was empty.
Luo Tianhe turned his head and looked into the classroom several times. Suddenly, as if he had discovered something terrifying, he lowered his head, his face turning pale, and stopped looking inside.
Seeing this, Li Huai nudged his arm.
"What's wrong, Brother Luo?"
"What else could it be? He saw a ghost. Don't look around, Luo Tianhe, be careful you don't see something you shouldn't."
I know without even guessing.
This place is filled with naked, undisguised resentment and malice.
It's the place with the heaviest yin energy I've ever been, and also the place with the most ghosts.
I hesitated for a moment, but still couldn't help asking:
"Master, is this the legendary corpse-raising ground?"
Master Zhang Qingxiao flicked his sleeves.
"You've finally figured it out. This school was definitely a mass grave before. Over the years, the yin energy has accumulated, making it an extremely ominous place! Someone has taken advantage of this location to set up an extremely malevolent formation."
"However, he didn't expect that there was a cemetery here, where soldiers who died defending the country were buried. That became a loophole in the formation, allowing Anning Girls' School to remain peaceful during the day. Otherwise, this place would probably have been completely transformed into a true ghost town long ago!"
Upon hearing this, a thought immediately struck me.
"Is it the area we passed by earlier?"
"That's right."
Hearing the Taoist priest's affirmation, I suddenly felt a little guilty.
I never imagined that the cemetery had such a history; no wonder they made us pass through there.
However, we were incredibly disrespectful and stepped on their graves, but thankfully they didn't hold it against us.
As we moved forward, the surrounding shadows grew thicker, and the beam of our flashlight seemed to sink into the mud, only able to illuminate an area of less than a meter in front of us.
Master Zhang Qingxiao took out an old bronze oil lamp, flicked his finger, and the wick automatically lit up with a cluster of pale blue flame.
A bluish light shone down, dispelling the heavy shadows within a four- or five-meter radius.
I breathed a sigh of relief, and the resentment emanating from the surroundings seemed to lessen.
"Taoist Master, the white silk ribbon that led the way broke off in front of this building. How do you know that if you keep going straight, you will find Baiyin?"
"This building isn't that big. If we head towards the places with more yin energy, we'll find her sooner or later."
The Taoist priest gave a casual explanation, and soon we reached the end of the corridor. Next, it was time to go upstairs.
The stairs were an old-fashioned wooden structure, and they creaked and groaned when you stepped on them, like a groan of extreme pain.
Suddenly, sounds came from the classrooms on both sides, the most jarring being the sound of a sharp object scraping against the blackboard.
"Damn it, this place is really good at making noise."
Li Huai cursed angrily, feeling extremely agitated. I took out a talisman and stuck it on his back, and a wisp of black smoke immediately rose up. Li Huai looked bewildered.
He scratched his head. "What happened to me just now?"
"We're affected by the resentment. We need to find Baiyin as soon as possible and leave this place. This place is really evil."
I scratched the goosebumps on my body and answered casually.
If it weren't for the Taoist priest, we would probably have been eaten by ghosts, leaving not even a trace.
When we reached the corner between the third and fourth floors, we all involuntarily stopped.
A huge group photo hangs on the wall at the corner.
The faded lettering above indicates that this is a group photo of female students from an outstanding graduating class.
Dozens of girls in old school uniforms stood in rows according to their height, with standard but stiff smiles on their faces.
As we watched, the photos began to play like a video.
First, there was the girl. She seemed to be walking on the road when a speeding heavy truck suddenly ran her over, turning her into a bloody mess.
Next was the second girl. She was sitting properly in the taxi, dressed neatly and formally, as if she was going to a job interview.
Suddenly, she heard a commotion and screams outside. Curious, she peeked out and saw a steel bar falling straight down on her. In the nick of time, she ducked back into the taxi, but before she could even feel relieved, four or five steel bars pierced through the taxi and turned her into a pincushion.
Then there's the third one. When she was visiting a chemical plant, the platform she was standing on suddenly broke, and she fell into a highly corrosive chemical solvent. To make matters worse, there was a huge stirring device in the solvent, which tore her apart alive, dissolved her flesh and blood, and turned her into bones!
The fourth, the fifth, and so on until the last one.
Their deaths were increasingly gruesome, and eventually the photograph returned to its original form, only this time, they were either minced flesh, skeletons, or rotting corpses...
Luo Tianhe's teeth chattered, and his voice trembled slightly:
"This is fucking outrageous, even more so than Death Note! More than fifty people, all of them died unexpectedly!"
Li Huai retreated repeatedly until he crashed into the wall and stopped.
Just then, the photo changed again.
To our utter horror, four figures slowly appeared in the back row of the photo—none other than ourselves, with stiff, standard smiles on our faces!
