While I don't think Jin Ye's words can be taken entirely at face value, there is some truth to them.
I turned to look at Luo Tianhe and gave him a wink.
Luo Tianhe understood immediately. He walked to the door, opened it, and called out, "Da Xiong, A Biao, come in and keep an eye on this old man."
A moment later, Da Xiong and A Biao strode in and stood beside Jin Ye.
Luo Tianhe handed the pliers to Da Xiong and glanced at Jin Ye: "If this old geezer doesn't behave, you know what to do."
Big Bear chuckled: "Don't worry, boss, this is my specialty. My family used to repair donkey hooves, so I'm very good with pliers."
I noticed that when Jin Ye heard this, his face contorted in shock.
Luo Tianhe and I walked out of the room and came to the end of the corridor.
He took out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, pulled out two, handed one to Luo Tianhe, and then lit them for both of us with a lighter.
Amidst the swirling smoke, I took a deep drag and asked him.
"Brother Luo, what do you think of what Boss Jin said? He suggested we join the Bureau of Paranormal Investigations. Is that a reliable idea?"
Luo Tianhe frowned and took a deep drag on his cigarette.
"That old fox is full of tricks and schemes. He's definitely up to no good. He's so eager to get us to join the Bureau of Extraordinary Investigations. Maybe he's hiding some ulterior motive. Maybe he wants to use the Bureau to deal with us, or maybe he wants to use us to cause some trouble in the Bureau so he can fish in troubled waters."
He paused, then continued his analysis: "But then again, it's possible that what he said about joining the Bureau of Investigation making us stronger is true."
"You know what we've been through lately. The ghosts and supernatural methods are endless, and our current abilities are indeed struggling to cope."
"Since the Bureau of Extraordinary Events Investigation specializes in handling these matters, it must possess a lot of resources and methods. If we can get in, we might actually learn some amazing skills that will help us deal with the Mysterious Female Furnace in the future."
I scratched my head in distress: "Yeah, given our current situation, we've been weakened and aged by Master Jin. If we don't take the risk, we have no other choice. Although we know this might be a trap, we have no choice but to bite the bullet and jump in."
"If we can learn real skills in the Bureau of Paranormal Investigation, we'll have the confidence to deal with even if Boss Jin uses tricks."
Luo Tianhe took another drag of his cigarette and stubbed it out against the wall.
"Alright, let's trust him for now, but we need to be careful. Once we're in the investigation bureau, we need to observe and pay close attention. We must not let Master Jin lead us by the nose. If we find anything amiss, we need to find a way to get out immediately."
I stubbed out my cigarette and nodded vigorously: "Okay, let's do it this way. Hopefully, this time we can turn misfortune into blessing and find a way to restore our youth and destroy the Mysterious Female Furnace."
