Chapter 1585 Giving someone face but not daring to retaliate

I looked in the direction he pointed.

Sure enough, the cracks in the wall were a dark black color, and seemed to be filled with some dark red, fluffy substance, like remnants of blood and flesh.

But my heart sank suddenly.

There was indeed a lot of yin energy there, but it was definitely not the most yin-heavy place in the room. Professor Tan was indeed suspicious!

I activated my third eye and found the place with the heaviest yin energy in the house, which was right under the altar!

I looked at Luo Tianhe and said in a low voice, "Luo Tianhe, smash under the offering table, use a baton, smash it like crazy!"

A hint of doubt flashed across Luo Tianhe's face. He had thought I would let him smash the place Professor Tan pointed out.

Without asking any questions, he darted forward, swung his arm, and slammed it hard onto the ground beneath the offering table.

"Bang!"

The sound was frighteningly dull, as if it had hit a thick piece of water-soaked leather rather than the floor.

But the effect was immediate. The moment the floor was hit, a strong, fishy stench suddenly gushed out from the cracks in the bricks!

Luo Tianhe gagged and desperately tried to dodge backward.

"Damn it, Chen Yan, what did you make me smash? It stinks!"

I ignored him and instead looked at the wooden door, which had been sealed shut before, but now had a crack.

"Walk!"

I made a snap decision and rushed towards the wooden door.

Luo Tianhe, no longer able to bear the nausea, grabbed Li Huai and ran wildly towards that place.

As Li Huai ran, he glanced at me and muttered, "Aren't you going to pick up Professor Tan's ghost money? Isn't that thing very important to him?!"

Luo Tianhe slapped him on the head. "Why do you care so much? Just listen to Chen Yan. Even Professor Tan didn't say anything."

At this moment, Luo Tianhe had already realized that something was wrong, but he was still not sure.

We ran for our lives until we reached the tunnel and saw the moonlight outside, then collapsed to the ground.

At this moment, I was drenched in cold sweat, panting heavily, and my throat felt like it was on fire.

After a while, I looked at Professor Tan, who forced a smile upon seeing me.

To be honest, the wrinkles on his old face were piled up like chrysanthemums, making his smile look uglier than a cry.

Before I could even speak, Professor Tan said, "Hehe, my old eyes are failing me, I looked in the wrong place. Luckily you have good eyesight, otherwise you would have been in big trouble."

"Heh, Professor Tan, don't be so modest. I think your judgment is better than the three of us combined. After all, you haven't been wasting your years!" I sneered, my tone sarcastic.

Professor Tan seemed not to have noticed, and gave a wry smile: "How could that be? If my eyesight were really good, I wouldn't have made a mistake. I'm truly ashamed."

"At this point, you're still pretending to be a mother!" I couldn't hold back and blurted it out.

That old bastard is shameless. He was given a chance to admit it, but he didn't take it seriously at all.

"No, young man, what do you mean by this? Why are you suddenly cursing me?" Professor Tan looked completely bewildered.

Li Huai's eyes widened in astonishment; he had never seen such a rude attitude towards an elderly person before.

"Heh, still won't admit it, huh? Luo Tianhe, go up there and beat him up, give him a piece of your mind!"

I was too lazy to play along with him any longer, so I simply let Luo Tianhe take action.

Luo Tianhe took two steps forward, cracked his wrists, and said leisurely:

"When I, Luo Tianhe, travel the world, I value morality above all else. I never harm the old or the young."

Upon hearing this, Professor Tan seemed to breathe a sigh of relief.

But I laughed when I heard that.

As a gang leader, Luo Tianhe has done a lot of despicable things. If he says something like this now, he's probably just joking with him.

"But you old codger aren't exactly young, so hitting you wouldn't break the rules."

Sure enough, Professor Tan's expression changed instantly when Luo Tianhe uttered the second half of his sentence.

"I'll talk, I'll talk!" Professor Tan gave a wry smile and stopped pretending. "I'm a man of the former richest man."

Upon hearing this, Li Huai's mouth dropped open wide enough to fit an egg.

"No, did I miss something in the plot? What's going on, or am I dreaming?" Li Huai patted his face, and only after feeling the pain did he realize that he wasn't dreaming.

"Are you stupid, Li Huai? That old man lit incense to attract souls in that room before, and almost killed us."

Later, they led us into the ancestral hall.

To be honest, that dog hole was so well hidden that if we were looking for it, we probably would have missed it.

Even though his eyesight was failing, he could tell at a glance.

The most outrageous thing was my probing earlier; such an important task, and he pointed me to such a ridiculous place.

Luo Tianhe suddenly realized what was going on.

He said he always felt like that damn richest man Zeng was keeping track of their every move. We were constantly walking into traps.

It turns out there really was a traitor among us.

“But he helped us before, back when the case was underway…” Li Huai was about to explain further, but I waved him off.

“We’re not so bad that we can’t even hold out for a little while. Even if he doesn’t crawl under the table, I can find a place that can be used as a hiding place if I observe for a little longer.”

"Professor Tan, things have come to this point, there's no need for you to keep pretending. Just tell us how to get out. You can't be the kind of person who would risk their life for money, can you?"

I looked at Professor Tan and threatened him.

"I..." Professor Tan hesitated, unable to finish his sentence.

Before I could even speak, Luo Tianhe had already lost his patience, crossed his arms, and said sternly:

"Don't spout nonsense like you don't know how to get out. I don't believe you wouldn't have a dog hole to escape through!"

Professor Tan's face flushed red and then turned pale, after all, the two of us had said some very harsh things and hadn't given him any face at all.

However, he was quite old after all, and his judgment of people was indeed accurate. He knew that Luo Tianhe was the kind of person who would definitely take action against him.

At this point, he dared not harbor any illusions.

"I, I'll take you out!"

We breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this.

This old man was willing to go against us for money, and he's certainly capable of betraying the richest man in China just to save his own life.

Moreover, this old man must have been a key figure in the former richest man's business, as he actually knew the layout of the manor like the back of his hand.

After many twists and turns, we ended up on a small path and actually left the botanical garden.

"Now can you let me go?" Professor Tan smiled obsequiously, after all, his life was now entirely in our hands.

Luo Tianhe didn't answer, but looked at me instead.

His folding stick was currently resting across Professor Tan's shoulder, ready to smash his head open at any moment.

I fell into deep thought; it would be too easy on him to just let him go.
