"Do you remember what we talked about before, about how a mass grave was unearthed when this hotel was being built?"
"I remember, Uncle Wang. We have something to do right now, so please keep it brief."
I spoke urgently, after all, we were standing in this elevator right now.
"That's right. After the master performed the ritual, several people still died. One of them was a contractor. The elevator had just been built. When he was using it, it didn't come up, so he didn't pay attention and walked directly into the elevator shaft. He then lost his footing and fell from the 20th floor directly onto the elevator. It is said that he was smashed into a pulp, with flesh and bones embedded in the steel plate!"
"After that, all sorts of strange things happened in that elevator, and several more people died, so people basically stopped using it."
Wang Lin finished speaking at an extremely fast pace, and a fine layer of cold sweat immediately broke out on my forehead.
"Damn it, things are already like this, why not just turn the elevator off? Why leave it open? Isn't that just endangering people?!"
Hearing the seriousness in my tone, Wang Lin immediately realized what was going on.
"You guys, you didn't take that elevator, did you?"
“That’s right, Uncle Wang, why didn’t you say so earlier?”
"Well, I didn't expect you guys to act so quickly. Besides, this elevator isn't 100% haunted. After all, it was used for a while before. Only two or three people died."
"Brother, it's not just a matter of life and death!"
Li Huai, who was in the corner, roared and then frantically pressed the elevator floor and open door buttons.
However, the elevator did not respond at all and continued to rise at a constant rate, as if there were no other floors to choose from.
When we reached the 14th floor, the elevator lights flickered on and off, and then with a snap, it plunged into complete darkness.
Holy crap!
Li Huai shouted.
"Stop yelling, turn on your phone's flashlight!"
When Luo Tianhe's voice rang out, he remained relatively calm, at least knowing to turn on the lights immediately.
Although Li Huai screamed pitifully, he was the quickest to react, being the first to pull out his phone and turn on the flashlight.
The flashlight beam dispelled the darkness, and we were able to see our surroundings with a glimpse.
Li Huai, panting heavily, raised his phone as high as possible to get more light.
The light swept across the wall of the compartment opposite me, and my heart skipped a beat.
Right behind Li Huai, pressed against the metal wall behind him, another "person" had appeared out of nowhere!
It was a blurry, distorted black figure!
It seemed to blend completely into the shadows, with no clear facial features; it was more like a group of people than a single person!
Suddenly I remembered what Uncle Wang had just told me, and I immediately realized what I had encountered.
For a moment, I felt like crying. Weren't they supposed to have very few accidents? How come we only used it once, and it just so happened that we ran into this guy?
And there he was, right next to Li Huai, as if he had always been a part of Li Huai's shadow!
Luo Tianhe also witnessed this scene, his face turned deathly pale, and he didn't dare to breathe.
Seeing the two of us, Li Huai was initially puzzled, then realized that something seemed off about his back.
He didn't turn around directly, but first looked down at his feet, glancing between his legs, and saw the blurry shadow of flesh and blood.
Li Huai's body stiffened instantly, his neck like a rusty gear, slowly, bit by bit, trying to turn around to look.
"Don't turn around!" I shouted sharply, simultaneously forming a talisman with my left hand and pointing my right hand like a sword.
However, it was still too late!
Out of the corner of Li Huai's eye, he seemed to have caught a glimpse of the terrifying dark figure clinging to his back!
His eyes widened in shock, revealing an indescribable fear, and then a hoarse sound came from his neck, as if he couldn't breathe.
That bloody, mangled black figure actually walked down from the wall!
He pressed himself against Li Huai's back, his two hands, which were severely deformed from being squeezed, gripped Li Huai's neck, and pulled him toward the inside of the room.
"roll!"
I roared, and the yellow talisman in my hand transformed into a streak of light, igniting the bloodied and mangled shadow with lightning speed.
His dragging of Li Huai suddenly froze, then he twisted in pain, letting out a miserable scream.
A dense, dark aura of resentment surged forth like a tide, quickly extinguishing the flames.
He turned his head abruptly, his face, flat as paper, staring at me with a venomous, resentful gaze.
"Damn it, just because I'm not showing my teeth doesn't mean I'm a pushover!"
I was furious. No matter what, he was just a little devil who hadn't been practicing for many years. He wasn't a real ghost at all, yet he dared to be so arrogant when he saw me.
I quickly took out another talisman, pricked my fingertip, squeezed out a drop of blood, and covered the center of the talisman.
At the same time, I was muttering to myself.
"The profound origin of Heaven and Earth, the root of all Qi! Through countless eons of cultivation, I have attained divine powers! Within and beyond the Three Realms, only the Dao is supreme! My body is enveloped in golden light!"
As I chanted, a thin layer of golden light appeared around me, completely enveloping me and the other two, including Luo Tianhe.
This is a simplified application of the Golden Light Mantra. Although it cannot be maintained for a long time, it is enough to protect you for a moment!
"break!"
I pointed my fingers like a sword, and the talisman ignited without fire. I then pointed it at the twisted, roaring black shadow once more!
However, the vengeful ghost seemed to realize the danger, letting out a resentful roar. The entire black shadow suddenly retreated, as if merging into water, instantly disappearing into the metal wall behind it!
The piercing screams, the biting cold, and the intense resentment receded as quickly as the tide.
"Snap!"
The lights came back on, the elevator resumed operation, and the numbers on the control panel started flashing again, indicating that we were approaching the top floor.
Everything seemed to have returned to normal.
Only Li Huai's legs went weak, and he actually sat down on the ground with a thud.
"Holy crap, Li Huai, are you alright?"
Luo Tianhe was startled and went over to check on the boy. He found that the boy was not seriously injured, but was just too frightened. He then rolled his eyes in annoyance.
"You good-for-nothing, it's not like you've never seen a ghost before, why are you so scared like this?"
Li Huai, panting heavily, retorted angrily:
"The ghost wasn't behind you, so of course you weren't scared. Damn, when I turned around, I was almost face to face with it, I nearly peed my pants!"
"That guy is really in a bad state. His face is completely flattened from the fall. No wonder he's so resentful; he's even disfigured."
"Get lost, you idiot! You're still in the mood for nonsense at a time like this? Is it about disfigurement?"
I glared at Li Huai and pulled him up.
"bite--"
Just then, we arrived at the top floor. The elevator doors slowly opened, revealing a dimly lit, quiet corridor leading to the viewing fish pond.
