Oh no, the underworld messengers have discovered us!
Before I could react, everything suddenly went black, and I lost consciousness again.
When I opened my eyes again, I found myself lying in complete darkness.
Only the green light in front of me was flashing.
I struggled to sit up and, in the dim light, saw Yuan Ying sitting quietly in front of an incense burner.
The green emergency light beside her emitted an eerie glow, making her face appear greenish.
In front of her was a small incense burner with a paper figure bearing my birth date and time inserted into it.
Just as I was about to speak, the paper figure suddenly burst into flames, the flames shooting high and emitting a pungent odor.
At the same time, I felt a chill run through my body, and a cold air suddenly attacked me from behind.
I instinctively turned my head to look behind me and found that there was another shadow next to my shadow.
The shadow, holding an iron chain, was slowly receding.
I was startled. Wasn't this the shadow of the underworld messenger from earlier?
"I'm finally back!"
Yuan Ying let out a long sigh, wiped the sweat from her forehead, picked up three yellow talismans, lit them on the fire, and muttered incantations.
After the yellow talisman burned to ashes, she picked up something wrapped in red cloth from the side and gestured for me to eat it.
I took it with a puzzled look and took a bite.
I only felt a bitter taste spreading in my mouth.
"Have I returned to my physical body?" I asked.
Yuan Ying nodded and said, "That's right, you're back."
After she finished speaking, she handed the incense burner to me and instructed me: "After you leave the hospital with this, find a place to take out the incense ash, bury it under a tree, and then go to the shop to get three stacks of paper money, two bundles of incense and candles, a pair of paper effigies of a boy and a girl, a money tree, and a yacht. Go to the crossroads and burn them."
I couldn't help but ask, "Who are you burning it for?"
Yuan Ying glanced at the wall behind me: "Burn it for that underworld official who tried to capture you just now."
Seeing my blank expression, Yuan Ying continued to explain, "When you came back to life, you happened to run into the underworld officials who came to take people away. They almost took you with them, but I have already made a deal with them. However, I need to burn some things to appease them."
My lips twitched as I listened.
I never expected the underworld to play this game too.
However, after seeing that they all needed clearance documents, I realized that the people below would indeed need these things as well.
I carried the incense burner and walked out of the stairwell with Yuan Ying.
Just as I reached the door, I heard a woman's heart-wrenching sobs.
I turned my head and saw the woman in the plaid skirt slumped on the ground.
A doctor in a white coat was standing in front of her.
"We've done everything we can, but the patient's injuries are too severe; there's simply nothing we can do..."
Upon hearing this, the woman's legs went weak, and she collapsed to the ground, her cries growing even more piercing.
My heart skipped a beat. Was the man who was taken away by the underworld officials already dead?
Seeing this, Yuan Ying gently patted my shoulder and said, "Stop looking, let's go."
I followed Yuan Ying out of the hospital, found a quiet corner, and carefully buried the ashes from the incense burner under the roots of a large tree.
After doing all this, Yuan Ying turned to me and asked.
"Have you found Liu Sandao's spirit?"
I hummed in agreement and said I saw it; it was in Fenglinyuan residential area.
Upon hearing this, Yuan Ying's face turned deathly pale, and she exclaimed, "How could she have run off there!"
I said I was puzzled too, but when I followed the soul-guiding candle to Fenglinyuan Community, Brother Liu's soul was standing at the entrance.
"That shouldn't be the case!"
Yuan Ying's brows furrowed into a deep frown, and she remained silent for a long time with her head down, seemingly lost in thought.
I didn't dare disturb her, so I stood quietly to the side.
After a long silence, Yuan Yingcai sighed softly, "This is his fate!"
Upon hearing this, a sense of foreboding immediately rose in my heart.
Does this mean Yuan Ying is planning to give up?
"It's not that I want to give up!"
Yuan Ying sighed, "I'm not capable enough to rescue him from Fenglinyuan Community. I'm sure you've heard about the tragedy that happened there. That's not a place I can go."
I said, are we just going to let it go like this?
"Tube?"
Yuan Ying sneered, "How can you expect me to manage this? Going there would be no different than sending ourselves to our deaths. Have you ever heard of the [Seven Deadly Formations of the Netherworld]?"

I was immediately stunned.

Yuan Ying didn't answer me immediately; she waved and hailed a taxi.
However, when the taxi stopped in front of her, she pulled me to the other side and hailed another one.
This action left me somewhat bewildered.
Seeing that we hadn't gotten in the car, the driver didn't say anything and slowly started the car and drove forward.
Surprisingly, the driver had a good temper; he wasn't angry at all for being stopped and teased.
Soon, a second taxi stopped, but Yuan Ying turned around and beckoned me to walk forward.
"Let's go, we'll walk back!"
I glanced back at the taxi and asked her why she wasn't taking it.
"Do you think I wanted to walk? Once I got on those two cars, I couldn't get off."
Yuan Ying sighed helplessly: "There's simply no way to hail a normal taxi next to you!"
